Day 241 // action - sector 4
[ Haruka has an advantage over the other new arrivals - she's had the good fortune to encounter someone she knows from home. Someone she knows very well, in fact. And whom she's apparently abandoned here for the past three months.

Not that Michiru blames her. They've spoken about the asylum, and even started moving Haruka into Michiru's apartment. (Naiad the Eevee doesn't seem to mind.) But Haruka can't shake her uneasiness. If she'd had to sit here, stewing, away from everything she knows....

Well, she'd probably bear it better than she thinks. So this walk was supposed to clear her head.

Yet here she stands outside a jewelry shop in Sector 4, pondering the wares. In her new slacks and jacket, she looks like a man who's been here forever - unless anybody looks down to notice the new-arrival anklet poking out of her cuff. She's also temporarily taken off her communicator - yeah, she knows she needs it, but wow is it gonna take some getting used to.

And wow, random passerby, is this "gentleman" absorbed in his perusal of the shop window. You could probably cut glass with that stare. ]

[ Haruka's listening, but her apparent attention's on Frederick. She seems quite taken by the little guy. He's definitely preferable to the AI bots. ]

Carrot-and-stick tactics, huh? I've never really liked being handled like a donkey, but it must have its perks.

[ Oh what the heck he's reminding her of a pet anyway. She'll reach out to bop Frederick "hello" on the head. ]

Yeah… pretty much. They seem to do that. I don’t think anyone is really happy about it, but it’s better than never being able to get anything from home. Besides, it’s not like everyone here is constantly picking fights.

[Lyle watches as she bops Frederick hello. Frederick watches her a moment then rolls forward, lifts an ear flap and lightly taps her leg with it. This was a game, yes?]

[ She has a different opinion of the system, though. From where she's standing it sounds like the wardens have achieved their objective just fine - everyone bows to the system because they see it's to their advantage to do so. Clever. Very clever.

Haruka supposes she'll have to make do with extant vehicles. And with flicking Frederick between the eyes. Your move, kid. ]

	What can you do. [Well, she'll eventually see fighting the system doesn't work so well either. Most new arrivals didn't know that. After she flicks him, Frederick looks up at Lyle as though curious what was going on here. When Lyle didn't say anything, Frederick moves forward to tap her on the leg again. 	[Frederick shakes her hand] Well, there's a couple of times where people have arrived in mass for one day and then they are gone. The wardens call this a glitch. There are also these things called 'mistletoe bots' that make appearances periodically. They essentially trap you in a force field until you kiss the person you are stuck with. Just to name a few. [ Haruka nods. Between this conversation - which really just hit on things she didn't know to ask about - and her partner, she does think she knows where she stands now. She's not thrilled about it, but she's not panicking or ready to rip the place down anymore, either. (It'll happen someday, though. She hopes. She can try.) ]
