day 225 | xiii ❧ potluck mingle!

[ this is her first time doing one of these without gran, and something she thought was going to be difficult for those very reasons is actually rather therapeutic, heartwarming -- a glance back at her roots, back when she was just adele stackhouse's weird granddaughter and not that fae who mingles with vampires. sookie contributes a few dishes from her gran's old recipes, along with something lafayette taught her to make. she's got all the tables in this part of trois park covered with checkered table clothes of varying colors, lots of plastic silverware, paper plates, cups, and napkins at the ready, and a stack of picnic blankets folded up on one of the benches for those who wish to sit on the grass instead of at a table. sookie even brought a long a mesh bag full of sports equipment -- or rather, a couple frisbees, a football, soccer ball, basketball, and even some hacky sacks. (she's not the sports type, but jason would always be off playing something with the other guys.)

hopefully she didn't leave anything out. hopefully this will help cheer everyone up some, both the new arrivals and those still dealing with the days they spent in that other prison. ]

[Tongues most certainly have to be weird here.]

That's rather good advice, actually. Thank you! [But she's going to force herself to finish the cake she cut, because it seems rude to put it back.]

Do you suppose there's jam? I've always wanted to try jam.

[ betty certainly won't stop her. somebody's gotta eat it, enjoyable experience or not. ]

Don't think they have any here, but there's gotta be a good selection at one of these stores. If not, you can always get some fruit and make your own.

[ will she make jam for strange tongue girl in an attempt to make friends and fit in? possibly maybe. gotta put to use the skills you've got, and it's either making jam or teaching her how to make a bomb which seems very misguided and terribly inappropriate. ]

Hmm. [She considers that, blinking a few times.]

I'm perfectly happy eating store jam, but is it terribly difficult to make?

And if it's not, would it be possible to use fruit-flavored candy, instead of actual fruit?

[Because clearly, the one thing her life is missing is Jujube-flavored jams.]

[ that is certainly a question betty has never heard before. ]

I don't-- It's not that hard, I guess, if they have everything for it here. And I don't know about candies... Unless you can make 'em mushed up enough?

[ she sounds very dubious about this potential candy jam, sorry. ]

Couldn't hurt to try, though?
