day 225 | xiii ❧ potluck mingle!

[ this is her first time doing one of these without gran, and something she thought was going to be difficult for those very reasons is actually rather therapeutic, heartwarming -- a glance back at her roots, back when she was just adele stackhouse's weird granddaughter and not that fae who mingles with vampires. sookie contributes a few dishes from her gran's old recipes, along with something lafayette taught her to make. she's got all the tables in this part of trois park covered with checkered table clothes of varying colors, lots of plastic silverware, paper plates, cups, and napkins at the ready, and a stack of picnic blankets folded up on one of the benches for those who wish to sit on the grass instead of at a table. sookie even brought a long a mesh bag full of sports equipment -- or rather, a couple frisbees, a football, soccer ball, basketball, and even some hacky sacks. (she's not the sports type, but jason would always be off playing something with the other guys.)

hopefully she didn't leave anything out. hopefully this will help cheer everyone up some, both the new arrivals and those still dealing with the days they spent in that other prison. ]

Oh, the usual. Mourning the sudden loss of my favorite man, blinding and paralyzing fears of losing other people, less than no progress with hacking my way out of his joint.

[She smiles despite it though. She's not thrilled but she looks for the good in things.] But at least now we're back to the place that has bras and free shopping and coffee. So all in all, I'm as okay as I can be.

[ elena expression morphs into one of concern at that description; she remembers talking to penelope about loving a friend once. she didn't know who it was, that it was derek. (she can relate to those blinding and paralyzing fears.)

elena blinks; the smile reminds her of caroline. always smiling through. ] I didn't know. [ how could she, really? still. ] When did he go? [ when did the prison take him, more like. ]

Right before we went to Ye Olde Dome of Suckitide. Like the giant tentacle attack that meant certain doom wasn't sufficient to freak me out, right?

[Still smiling, she goes to pat Elena on the shoulder.] I'm okay, though. Really. I wasn't for a while, but he wouldn't want me to mourn forever.

Besides, it's something we all go through, being here. I had a lot of sympathetic shoulders to sob on. And also a lot of liquor.

[ elena believes garcia's okay. as okay as anyone can be. she understands, losing someone here. she smiles, in reassurance for both of them. (she thinks of damon, at squall, that night they held onto each other after zatanna lost robin and now... instinctively, she looks out to where she saw damon last, but then refocuses on garcia.) ] I usually like beating something up. [ like a sandbag. oh right, she should clarify that - ] Like a sandbag.

[ she sobers. ] He's okay too. He'll be okay. [ wherever he is. elena believes that, has to, of everyone, for everyone. she reaches to touch garcia's arm. ] All of us.
