day 225 | xiii ❧ potluck mingle!

[ this is her first time doing one of these without gran, and something she thought was going to be difficult for those very reasons is actually rather therapeutic, heartwarming -- a glance back at her roots, back when she was just adele stackhouse's weird granddaughter and not that fae who mingles with vampires. sookie contributes a few dishes from her gran's old recipes, along with something lafayette taught her to make. she's got all the tables in this part of trois park covered with checkered table clothes of varying colors, lots of plastic silverware, paper plates, cups, and napkins at the ready, and a stack of picnic blankets folded up on one of the benches for those who wish to sit on the grass instead of at a table. sookie even brought a long a mesh bag full of sports equipment -- or rather, a couple frisbees, a football, soccer ball, basketball, and even some hacky sacks. (she's not the sports type, but jason would always be off playing something with the other guys.)

hopefully she didn't leave anything out. hopefully this will help cheer everyone up some, both the new arrivals and those still dealing with the days they spent in that other prison. ]

[ elena's not 100% sure it was either, but sookie wanted to organize this for some togetherness. for everyone in the prison to... find some stability in a place where there is none. to look on the bright side - or at least at your other options.

it's something elena believes in too.

she spots matt while he's approaching, sucks in a breath and straightens. she wants to talk to him, see him, wants to know... (everything.) wants to know he's all right. it's been a day or so since she's been with him in person, and now after their talk about caroline and secrets yesterday...

what is all comes down to, really, is that she cares about him. (and he's keeping something from her.) ] Hey. How are you doing?

I'm doing about as good as anyone who just got here can be. [ it's an honest answer while being evasive all at the same time. he doesn't enjoy having to deploy these sort of shady tactics, but the only other option that leaves him with is one he's not willing to accept. ] Shoulder hurts, but... I'll live.

[ she knows honest and evasive well. she also knows matt well, and this place well. she gets that much, at least. the hard adjustment. her lips form a straight, worried line.

but she blinks at the mention of his shoulder, her eyes both curious and concerned as they drop, look over his chest. she reaches out, places a hand on his arm. evasive or not, keeping so much to himself or not, that feels natural. ] Matt, did something happen?
