day 225 | xiii ❧ potluck mingle!

[ this is her first time doing one of these without gran, and something she thought was going to be difficult for those very reasons is actually rather therapeutic, heartwarming -- a glance back at her roots, back when she was just adele stackhouse's weird granddaughter and not that fae who mingles with vampires. sookie contributes a few dishes from her gran's old recipes, along with something lafayette taught her to make. she's got all the tables in this part of trois park covered with checkered table clothes of varying colors, lots of plastic silverware, paper plates, cups, and napkins at the ready, and a stack of picnic blankets folded up on one of the benches for those who wish to sit on the grass instead of at a table. sookie even brought a long a mesh bag full of sports equipment -- or rather, a couple frisbees, a football, soccer ball, basketball, and even some hacky sacks. (she's not the sports type, but jason would always be off playing something with the other guys.)

hopefully she didn't leave anything out. hopefully this will help cheer everyone up some, both the new arrivals and those still dealing with the days they spent in that other prison. ]

	There's some frisbees and some balls, and darts. Some things I haven't seen before, either, but they look pretty cool. [Like that chest of quidditch balls... A bit of purple light from his horn travels toward her, and settles under her feet, around her waist, and under her arms. He gently lifts her up off the ground a foot or so. [She spares a look back, noting his effort.] That should do it, yes.

[She's bending over, reaching for a branch above the nest to steady her as she makes her attempt. The mission: sneak up on the ball and avoid hurting the eggs. Yvaine dips her fingers under the nest before snatching a wing with two fingers - the other beats furiously, and she's pulling the ball out while catching the nest with her other hand. This means she flails a bit after adjusting the nest.]

I have it! It's slipping.

[But his endurance fails. His magic releases her all at once.

His eyes widen and he darts forward. He's got just enough left.] I've got you! It's okay! I've got you!

[He creates a shield below her, shaped like a big bowl. She enters it at one edge, slides down, and then drops out under her so she lands unceremoniously on her bottom.]

Are you okay?! [He comes over beside her.]

[If this ball had been a bird it'd have pecked it's way free. As it is, she barely has a grip on it after completing that fall with a shout. Yvaine feels her legs with her other hand, and sighs. No sprain at least.] I'm all right.

[For a second she had thought of Tristan and was ready to be snappish. But this fall had been her doing, for convincing Shining Armor to do it.] Are you?
