day 225 | xiii ❧ potluck mingle!

[ this is her first time doing one of these without gran, and something she thought was going to be difficult for those very reasons is actually rather therapeutic, heartwarming -- a glance back at her roots, back when she was just adele stackhouse's weird granddaughter and not that fae who mingles with vampires. sookie contributes a few dishes from her gran's old recipes, along with something lafayette taught her to make. she's got all the tables in this part of trois park covered with checkered table clothes of varying colors, lots of plastic silverware, paper plates, cups, and napkins at the ready, and a stack of picnic blankets folded up on one of the benches for those who wish to sit on the grass instead of at a table. sookie even brought a long a mesh bag full of sports equipment -- or rather, a couple frisbees, a football, soccer ball, basketball, and even some hacky sacks. (she's not the sports type, but jason would always be off playing something with the other guys.)

hopefully she didn't leave anything out. hopefully this will help cheer everyone up some, both the new arrivals and those still dealing with the days they spent in that other prison. ]

Maybe.

[Yes.]

You?

Well that's an interguing answer.

Nothing besides a can-do attitude and being good at research.

I've always been a big fan of the keep-'em-guessing attitude.

Nothing wrong with that. Some of my best friends are baseline human, even. And they're better crimefighters than half the metas I know.

Do I at least get a hint?

Baseline? Metas?

How's this for a hint: think tophats and rabbits.

Provided your world operates on the same stereotypes as mine I'll go with magician, then. [A smile.] Should I ask if it involves real magic, or would that count as revealing your secrets?

Nice to hear some thing really are multiversal.

[And she grins proudly.]

Both, actually. Real and stage.

Is it a particularly effective way to fight crime? No offense, of course. I just tend to stick with large guns and explosives.

What a coincidence. So do I.

[Its a good thing he's not taking a sip of coffee as she says that, because it gets an appreciative laugh out of it.] After my own heart, then. Are all your fellow world saving magicians as young as you?

I'm the second youngest of the Team, yeah, but not all of them are magicians.

In fact, far as I know, only one other actually knows some form of magic. The others are either human, or have...different powers.

My team is mostly human, which I suppose has its own advantages and disadvantages. What other powers do they have? If you don't mind me asking, of course. I wouldn't want to pry into anything top secret.

No, it should be fine. So long as I don't give away secret identities or anything.

[Not that she was particularly concerned with that sort of thing.]

Kid Flash can run at super speed. Superboy has incredible strength, hearing, and maybe one or two other powers. Miss Martian's a telepath. Aqualad, far as I know, does some form of Atlantean sorcery.

[He lets out a low, impressed whistle.] I can make a good cup of coffee, but that's about it. [He's not sure if Jack wants people here knowing he can't die, so he decides not to mention it. Torchwood is rather unimpressive on the superpowers front.] When you say Atlantean sorcery do you mean Atlantis?

It's just a legend where I'm from. Personally I've always suspected alien involvement.

[This makes her stop for a moment.]

...I don't think it was?

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the aliens didn't show up until longer after Atlantis sank. Then again, history never really was my strong suit.

I just tend to assume most mysteries and unanswered questions have aliens at the bottom of them, thats all.

No, we've had our fair share of those, too. Being nearly eaten by cannibals is one of my least favorite work experiences, I must say. [He suspects some of the things he did as a part of Torchwood London or to save Lisa might land him on that trouble-causing jerks list, as well.]

Well now we can't have that.

[He has to think about that one for a minute.]

I helped catch a pterodactyl once. We kept it as a pet. You?

Pterodactyl, huh? We just have a large wolf and Inter-dimensional Sphere than can transform into one of the cooler motorcycles.

[Conner had a thing with collecting strays]

I'd still have to say Halloween with my best friend, Artemis. We cruised the town and ended up really sticking it to this ulta-baddy who liked to kill his sister and talk in the third person. Seeing him go down was extra satisfying.

Both those sound like excellent conversation starters. Any particular reason why he picks motercycles?

Trick or treating does sound rather dull in comparison.

[She's going to pretend you didn't just ask that question.]

Because who wouldn't pick motorcycle?

[Obviously.]

On the other hand, less free candy.
