When I said I wanted to get out of Mystic Falls for a while, this wasn't exactly what I had in mind. Ruins of some ancient prison in Italy or China, maybe, but not underwater and in some alien dimension, or however the hell that's supposed to work. [ if he's getting the gist of this right. he's going by video game logic here. ]

And what happened to a trial by a jury of your peers? Is that not a thing on Planet X? Too human a concept for you? Is throwing eighteen-year-olds in prison for skipping a couple of classes back in high school [ and eradicating an entire vampire bloodline via staking finn mikaelson, but shhhh ] just something you do for fun around here?

[ just when things had calmed down and the world was returning to normal (or as normal as the world was capable of getting after everything that happened back home), this happens. it's just his luck, too. nothing ever stayed good for matt donovan. his life sucked, and it looks like graduating from high school meant it was only going to get suckier from here on out. ]

So much for the world tour.

Long sleeves. [ to make that statement not as random as it must seem, matt sidles up beside her as they walk, tugging a sleeve up high enough to reveal the scars on his arm in the distinct shape of teeth. he could pass it off for a dog bite with people not from mystic falls, but everyone from home would know that's a vampire bite. ]

[It takes her a moment to work it out. Bite marks? Who had fed on him -- Elena. It has to be Elena. Which of course explains why he'd want to hide it.

There's a small flare up of petty jealousy at the idea that Elena got to feed on him but she tries to squash it down.]

I suppose that would involve a lot of explaining, wouldn't it?

[People know about Elena becoming a vampire -- what they don't know about was her difficulty with drinking anything but from the vein -- thanks to her sirebond with Damon.]

You're an incredibly beautiful girl, Rebekah. And you can actually be really nice and funny once you get past the Original Vampire bullshit you keep feeding everyone. You're loyal and trustworthy when you try, when you make it count. There's even a big heart somewhere in there. It's a little out of practice, but it's there. April wouldn't be alive if it wasn't.

So no, it wouldn't be awful. But, it wouldn't be fair to either of us. [ and his friends would flip tables. ]
