DAY 221 — Morning Greeting
[ Wakey wakey, criminals! You've got a fast-talking, metallic baritone yelling at you over the loudspeakers! ]

Gooooodmorning you little cretins! It's a stormy day here in Squall Asylum so all you happy campers out there better not be scared of lightning.

It's day... eh, who cares. It's a day and we've got a whole buttload of refugees in the house, isn't that exciting? I'm Savvy and I'll be your generous overlord on this fine, fine day. I'd introduce you to my co-pilot Au Courant, but what's the point of spending all the surprises in one go, huh? Exactly.

As you may have noticed, Dorothy, you are no longer in Kansas. Our fellow colleagues over at MarinaNova had some technical difficulties on their hands and asked us to babysit your sorry asses until they've got their shit in order. I know, it sucks for us too but what can you do. If I may direct your attention to the snazzy little headsets you've got, you'll now be able to find a map over Squall Asylum through the menu function. As you may have noticed, we're not quite as posh as your cushiony correctional facility and what you can do about that is sit down, shut up and deal.

Rations will be handed out through the pickup window. Don't try to sneak in for seconds, we know what your DNA looks like. Also, for the sake of everyone's happiness, clean up after yourselves. Your mama doesn't work here.

Oh, and one more thing.... to show our benevolence to you poor, unfortunate souls, there will be no mandatory activities today. Consider it a gift from the bottom of our circuits. You're welcome.

(( OOC: Welcome to Squall Asylum! All Kiosk requests will be handled by Savvy! Event info can be found over here! ))

[ you are one lucky warden, savvy! you're getting a real treat: elena and rebekah. (if that's okay, modly person? rebekah-mun will pop in later?)

the former is approaching the kiosk with purpose. she doesn't know exactly what to expect, but she can guess. elena's long-since learned it's a better idea not to engage with the wardens needlessly. she starts out calm, confident, and assertive.

she gets to the point.
] We want to know what the rules are and if or when the anklets come off.

[ The luckiest of wardens! He always did like a good orgy. The more the merrier, really! ]

Such a good couple of questions! In fact, they're so good you get a package deal of an answer: no.

And before you start wrinkling your nose all indignant — as cute as that is — I'll go ahead and elaborate. No rules and the anklets don't come off.

[Rebekah huffs in annoyance at the second part. No rules she can do -- the anklet? Not so much.]

You have to be kidding me.

[ she's more surprised than indignant - at least at first. she looks back and over to rebekah at her comment, confusion and some alarm etched into her features. ] You're telling me there are no rules? Why aren't there rules? [ keeping the anklets on at least makes sense. ]

What's the point of rules? Seeing as you're criminals, you've already proven yourself perfectly capable of breaking them. Just because those losers over at MarinaNova still believe you can be rehabilitated, that doesn't mean we all share that belief.

So you don't believe in rules but you restrict our abilities.

[Cause that makes sense. Note: This is Rebekah's unimpressed face.]

[ elena's not going to get into the point of rules with an ai. that's a slippery slope into nothing. she and rebekah both know the point of rules, even though they've both broken plenty.

she slides a look over to rebekah at her comment. it's guarded, but it's also knowing. rebekah might be unimpressed, but elena sees the twisted sense in muting power and seemingly allowing bad behavior. it means one thing: this place is dangerous.
] We're allowed to do whatever we want. Break something; hurt or kill each other. There are no punishments?

No punishments. I suppose I could arrange a spanking, if you ask very nicely.

Somehow, I think we'll pass. [Ugh, these AI are even worse than the normal ones. She turns to look back at Elena.]

I don't think we're going to get anything useful from them.
