Day 219 [video-->Action] Merlotte's Mingle - Open to All!
[What better way to kick off a mingle than to broadcast the invitation to the entire dome?]

Hey ya'll. I know it's kinda outta place t'say Welcome to Marina cause no one really wants t'be here, but it ain't all bad. In any case, I've got a bar an grill here in Sector 4 called Merlotte's, figure th' new arrivals may want to come on down and have a drink or two after a trip like that.

Anyone's welcome of course, we're open from mornin' to night. Come on in an' have a bite to eat or somethin' to ease your troubles.

((ooc: This is an open mingle. Feel free to thread everywhere with anyone. As always, before threadjacking make sure it's okay by the player but otherwise have fun! Sam is available to chat with either by Video or in person and his thread is right Here. There is a full menu of down-home diner/grill sort of foods, so hamburgers, french fries, salads, soups, breakfast items or whatever other comfort food you can think of and a few other things from other worlds. There is a full bar, wine, liquor, beer and even blood or synthetic blood. He also has a pool table and there's plenty of room in booths or tables to play cards or whatever else.))

[Technically it was still his turn, but considering the kid is eager to learn he'll let him go and get a feel for it. He watches, trying to stifle a snicker at how he botches. No one ever said Helix was a good teacher, or a nice one for that matter.

He's got pointers for how to aim better and angle a shot for it to bounce just right, but he's kind of trying to win at this, not make the kid better.

See this Aidan? You got in a fight with the kid and instead of pummeling him he's going to beat him in a crafty, if more sportsman-like way.]

Not bad.

[Helix will take his shot and sink one straight in before aiming to sink another, he'll scratch the third on purpose. He'll pull the white ball out and hand it to the kid.]

Okay so, I scratched so you want to put this behind here [pointing out an invisible line behind the dot on the left side of the table.] and make a shot.

[Caliborn looks at the cue ball in his hand. He takes a moment to reflect on how nice and heavy it is as he puts it in place. It would hurt someone pretty good to be hit with it. It's a soothing, comforting thought.]

[The cherub sets up a shot and tries again. Another botch. Frustrating after seeing Helix's little stretch of easy pocketing, but not enough that he feels like making a fuss over it.]

[He steps back and sets the butt of the cue stick on the floor, holding it kind of like a staff.]

You seem. Quite adept. At putting balls in holes.

[If only he knew the sadistic stuff going through the kids head.

He only ruffles a little bit, holding back the fluster if only cause the phrase 'balls in holes' doesn't make as much sense. It still sound dirty though.]

The game is called Pool or Billiards. Trust me, you don't want to go around saying you are good at putting balls in holes.

But thanks, I've been playing for years. [Lining up a shot and putting one in, purposely missing the second to go a little easier on the kid.]

[It is strange seeing a kid, who he's pretty sure is a guy... a skull guy... with big, full, girly eyelashes. What a strange species. It's like whatever created them threw together something ugly and tried to make it pretty somehow and only succeeded in making it ridiculous but said to themselves, "HEY it's good enough. Send the poor things out into the world"

He chuckles at his enthusiasm.]

Go ahead and take another shot wizz-kid.

And putting Balls in Holes sounds sexual, not to mention Gay. Not that gay is a bad thing but if you don't want people to think you like guys I wouldn't run around saying that.

[Caliborn stares at him. Squints slowly. He doesn't understand why that would be sexual, and he doesn't understand what "gay" means, but he does understand what "liking guys" means, of course.]

[But it's one thing among many, and so he just kind of gives Helix that weird look and then turns his focus back on the table.]

[He instead takes another shot. Naturally, nothing falls in, but the billiard balls ricochet around impressively enough. He wasn't exactly focusing his best, though.]

	[Helix clicked his tongue, tsking.] You'll get the hang of it eventually. [A smirk as he lines up a shot, striking the cue ball from the top which he makes it skip over a solid to strike a stripe into a side pocket. He sinks another two before pausing.] I'll pass on this, give you a chance for a comeback. (Reply to this) (Parent)
