Day 219 [video-->Action] Merlotte's Mingle - Open to All!
[What better way to kick off a mingle than to broadcast the invitation to the entire dome?]

Hey ya'll. I know it's kinda outta place t'say Welcome to Marina cause no one really wants t'be here, but it ain't all bad. In any case, I've got a bar an grill here in Sector 4 called Merlotte's, figure th' new arrivals may want to come on down and have a drink or two after a trip like that.

Anyone's welcome of course, we're open from mornin' to night. Come on in an' have a bite to eat or somethin' to ease your troubles.

((ooc: This is an open mingle. Feel free to thread everywhere with anyone. As always, before threadjacking make sure it's okay by the player but otherwise have fun! Sam is available to chat with either by Video or in person and his thread is right Here. There is a full menu of down-home diner/grill sort of foods, so hamburgers, french fries, salads, soups, breakfast items or whatever other comfort food you can think of and a few other things from other worlds. There is a full bar, wine, liquor, beer and even blood or synthetic blood. He also has a pool table and there's plenty of room in booths or tables to play cards or whatever else.))

[ having only been in the dome for a matter of hours, it could be said that helen's working it fast, but honestly this is just a normal day for her. new place, new situation, time for a little reconnaissance.

and of course, she's actually very hungry after everything she's been through, so she'll be heading for the diner very soon.

what's noticeable about her isn't her outfit, though it's a nice change from the orange jumpsuit. what easily stands out is the fact that in the very recent past, she was injured. those sensitive to the smell can likely smell it still lingering on her. her cheeks, neck, and what can be seen of her chest sport cuts, as though she'd been pelted with glass. the suit jacket covers most of the rest of her injuries, but she's moving fairly stiffly and what can be seen of her wrists obviously sport bandages, neatly wrapped to hide the still open gashes on both of her arms.

for the moment, she's watching, trying to memorize faces, but she'll be more or less open to conversation if approached. ]

[rose smells blood from somewhere-fresh blood and it overwhelms her for a few moments before she stops, collecting herself. she had control and lived off blood bags and synthetic blood. but the smell of fresh blood did have its temptations.

she tries to locate the source and it isn't along until she finds it, spotting Helen from across the room. rather than making it obvious, Rose crosses to the other side and comes past her from another direction, stopping by her. ]

You're new, aren't you? I've never seen you around before.

[ one of the things helen hadn't counted on: a healthy vampire population. otherwise she wouldn't have come. as it is, she's oblivious to any ulterior motive rose might have for approaching her and attempts to be as amiable as possible given the circumstances. ]

Is it that obvious? [ it's very obviously a joke, if only by the slight smile on her face. ] First day here and I must admit it's nothing like I would have expected.

It's not your stereotypical prison. [she says with a small laugh.] I'd say welcome but I'm not sure if that's suitable, considering that we're stuck here indefinitely.

Still. Always nice to hear a familiar accent. There's not a lot of British people here.

No, indeed. Can't say I've ever seen much of the inside of a normal one, either. [ she gives an appreciative laugh anyway and smiles. ] I suppose it could be worse. We might not be able to mingle or be forced to drink coffee -- [ ...she's not a coffee person, okay? ] -- or cater to politics. [ oh wait, that sounds like her normal life. ]

Can't decide if that's a good thing or not. [ she's teasing. ] But I'm always glad to meet people who are familiar with my homeland.

This is my first time in prison too. [and her last probably.] I definitely appreciate the amount of space we can move around in and the facilities. But you're right, what you said does sound worse. Except I like coffee.

Likewise. It makes me think of home and all the memories I have of it. [a wistful look.] I'm Rose by the way. What's your name?

If I happen to see a pot of coffee, I'll be certain to give it to you. [ much as she dislikes coffee, she can deal with being around it for the sake of people she likes. her second-in-command drinks almost nothing but coffee, after all. ]

Something like that. Much younger than I am now. [ not that her longevity is too much of a secret, but it'll make living out her days here much longer. hope the wardens are ready for dealing with her for an extended period of time. ] My residence before now was in the States, the Pacific Northwest, to be precise. Have you ever been up there?
