[ she's caught him in a tight spot; for all of his bullshit, kol hasn't gotten involved because he's not quite sure how. singing is not his thing. quietly watching while the musical festivities is. he enjoys music almost as much as he enjoys the thrill of the kill, and perhaps he doesn't get involved because there's a fear it'll be ripped from him like his chances of living through the decades these songs were introduced to the world. this happy hour is far from his familiar territory that taking a moment to slide onto a stool that feels comfortable with a glass or several of scotch and all of its cousins makes him feel a little better. ]

You may not be aware, but sometimes even us life-of-the-party type need to take a breather every now and then.

[ this is too much living for kol. he's only ever had moments of time, nothing that lasts for too long before he's placed temporarily on ice. to live a life that's his and his alone is going to take some time to get used to, like wearing an old pair of very worn and very loved shoes. ]
