KARAOKE NIGHT AT THE SHACK

[ The drinks are flowing at the Blook Shack (BLOOD FREE, OKAY?), the bass is pumping with cheesy karaoke songs. Come on in, mingle, drink, and sing a song, any song. And ladiessss it's your perfect chance to ask your dates to the Sadie Hawkins dance! Start a thread and comment here with what song your character is singing for the competition to get a prize!]

"I do tend to assume you're at the center of most of the scandals I read about in history books at this point," Ianto agrees. "Or at least the sex ones." Which, to be fair, did tend to make reading much more interesting.

"So are you hoping to win some sort of prize for your performance, or is everyone just here for fun?" He asks. He's not here to perform - not really his thing - but the whole karaoke and vampires combination was enough to get him here.

Jack smirks over his whisky glass. "I do enjoy causing a stir," he admits easily, and glances over towards their hostess, whom he rather enjoyed talking to earlier. "Not sure. I'm not bothered about any prizes. It's the getting up and performing that does it for me." Which is totally obvious, of course.

He cocks a teasing eyebrow. "Not planning on getting up there yourself at all? You really should, you know, with all that Welsh vocal heritage behind you!"

"I have noticed its a bit of a hobby of yours, yes." Ianto agrees blandly, somehow managing to keep a straight face. "You seem to be on your best behavior tonight, though. I didn't notice any undergarments being flung up at you on stage after all."

He shudders dramatically at the thought. "I think I'll leave that bit as heritage and nothing more, thank you. Its not really my thing."

Jack just grins, completely at home with the jibe. Being over the top is kind of his trademark, after all. And then he chuckles, and leans over to tease, in a low voice, "Well, maybe next time you should fling your boxers at me! You know, just so we can keep things at the expected level."

He doesn't push about trying to get Ianto up on stage. He does, occasionally, know when to let things go.

"Maybe next time I will," Ianto replies, prim and flirting all at once in that way he does best. Mostly because he would love to see the look on Jack's face if he actually did it.

Taking another sip of his drink and glancing around he adds, "You know it never ceases to amaze me that a prison has bars. This place is very strange."

“Dare you,” Jack teases, because both of them know it would bother Ianto a hell of a lot more than it would bother him!

“Yeah, prisons often have bars but rarely this kind!” he agrees with a grin, though it darkens as it adds, “Mind you, I could do without the bars. There are other things I’d rather have – or be able to do.”

Because it is starting to rankle that he can’t fuck his lover, nor be fucked by him. These things are important to Jack.

Ianto doesn't reply beyond a smirk and a private decision to do just that if Jack does get back up on the stage tonight.

He nods and takes a larger gulp of his drink than he had planned. He knows exactly what Jack would rather have, because he spends most of his free time missing it, too. At least they can touch again, but its still not enough.

"That prison bars joke was terrible," He says, trying for lighthearted and falling a bit short.

"I thought it was rather clever," Jack says, pouting, pretending to be offended. Trying to go along with the lightheartedness, because he feels bad for having reminded Ianto of what they can't have.

And also because he knows there's something they could do that would allow them to fuck; he just doesn't want to bring up the subect of blue bands into the conversation. He's still feeling a little raw from Rose's revelation, which has at once both made him want with Ianto what she has with the Doctor and made him shy away from it even more too.

"In a so bad it's good sort of way," Ianto corrects with a laugh. There's no point in moping over their relationship troubles, at least not out in public at a crowded bar - or so he tells himself a bit unsuccessfully. He's here to enjoy himself and he's taking that very seriously.

He also noticed Rose's wrist band in his earlier conversation with her and it hadn't been hard to guess what it meant. He has no way of knowing Jack's thinking about it too, of course. In his case it just makes him regret not pushing Jack harder for what he had really wanted out of this relationship. He'd been too scared of pushing him away, and he still is.
