KARAOKE NIGHT AT THE SHACK

[ The drinks are flowing at the Blook Shack (BLOOD FREE, OKAY?), the bass is pumping with cheesy karaoke songs. Come on in, mingle, drink, and sing a song, any song. And ladiessss it's your perfect chance to ask your dates to the Sadie Hawkins dance! Start a thread and comment here with what song your character is singing for the competition to get a prize!]

[Oz is mostly blending into the atmosphere when Ianto pauses in the general vicinity of where he's standing. But Oz looks over and nods a greeting. And as far as greetings go, it's very simple and very Oz-like.]

Hey.

[Ianto nods in return, throwing in a friendly smile as well.]

Hello. I don't think we've met. Ianto Jones.

Ianto, cool name. I'm Oz.

[He nods toward the stage.] You sing?

Coming from someone named Oz I'll take that as a particularly high compliment.

Not at things like this. Performing in front of crowds is not particularly my thing. How about you?

I don’t sing solo. Only play guitar and sing backup. Front man’s never been my thing. [A pause.] Luckily, I’m a professional listener.

[A soft laugh at the last bit.] You're in a band, then?

I was. A long time ago. Years.

[He smirks a bit sardonically.] Time flies, huh?

I suppose so. You've been here long, then?

Over three months. A hundred and five days. Yeah, seems longer though.

[He pauses.] Nice accent.

My sympathies.

Thanks. I'm from Cardiff. Whales. You?

California. Although more recently... Tibet.

[He arches a brow.] Ever been to Tibet?

[Yes, but that timeline got erased and he has no idea so no, not actually no.] I don't get to travel much with my work, unfortunately. I've heard its lovely. How did you end up there from California? Sounds like quite a trip.

Oh I had a reason. I was looking for answers. I found them with a group of monks in a secluded monastery. I found peace.

[There's so much more to the story but he doesn't like how people look at him differently when they know he's a werewolf.] What kind of work do you do?

I'll admit I'm a bit envious. That sounds nice.

[At this point Ianto could probably take werewolves in stride, as his next answer proves.] I hunt aliens. You?

Aliens.

[Give him a second. He's not shocked by that because aliens isn't too far of a hop skip and a jump from demons. Just... how often do you hear that kind of answer?

Finally, he nods.
] Cool. I teach meditation and control.

There's a rift in time and space running through Cardiff. You'd be surprised how much slips through. Mostly we try and keep it quiet.

[At least he seems to be taking it in stride, which is a nice change. Then again, after this place who wouldn't?]

Never been much good at either, I'm afraid. Maybe you should start giving classes here. I'm sure people could use it.

Understood. With that kind of thing even if people see it they usually try to explain it away as something not supernatural, paranormal or... alien.

[He knows this all too well.] I've thought about it. Wasn't sure how much interest there would be.

Exactly. We spend quite a lot of time erasing memories, to be honest. Its just easier, in the long run.

I'd sign up, but I don't know if I'd be any good at it. I don't really do relaxed. [Said by the man in a perfectly pressed 3 piece suit.]
