[ cordelia sits her butt down on a stool, ordering a drink before she even makes it onto the seat. angel is gone again and she's not quite sure she'll be able to cope with yet another loss of him. where she'd usually slip into denial and think everything is fine, that it's better he's not here, she finds that coming to the blood shack allows her to let go and be completely selfish. ]

[ or that's what she hopes. she intentionally sits beside xander, even if she plays it that it wasn't intentional at all. he's someone from home, and she's desperate for something - or someone - who is almost like family to her. ]

[He threatened Angel about that if it helps. He wasn't supposed to hurt Cordelia or Buffy again. And then... Well, it's what the guy does as far as Xander sees it. Also, some people don't seem to take Xander threats that seriously. Sad but true.]

You're safe for now. At least from me. [This look might just translate into "but there is something else, isn't there?" The question is, do you answer questions in the form of a look?]

[ cordelia arches a brow. ] You? Dangerous? I think that's the only time you've ever been genuinely funny. [ it lacks her usual, childish venom; while xander asks her a question with a look, she answers his with a small, kind smile. ]

[ and she might just order him a drink as an act of saying thank you for not being someone who could potentially hurt her, even though xander has, and always will, be quite capable of inflicting the most damage. ]

[ if pressed, she'll merely claim she's drunk and mistook him for someone she genuinely likes. ]
