DAY 209 | vi ( audio ) → open.
We need a Sadie Hawkins. [ seemingly unprompted, but it's been on her mind for a while now. something wholesome and fun that everyone can participate in without pesky age requirements or being weary of stepping foot in a bar or a vampire-owned establishment. ] It's a dance - not as formal as prom, but there's usually a theme of some kind involved. For example, my sorority at Yale was planning on holding a Phantom themed Sadie Hawkins towards the end of the fall semester. Our theme will definitely not be anything involving Andrew Lloyd Webber. Rebekah and I will be working out those details - theme, where, when...

[ because her original vampire bestie is the obvious choice for partner in dance planning crime. ]

Another thing: the girls usually do the asking for a Sadie Hawkins. None of this misogynistic nonsense of waiting for a guy who's never going to notice you to ask you to go to the dance with him. You get to make him sweat and worry that no-one's going to ask him and he'll be forced to go stag. But, since I know not everyone is of the heterosexual persuasion here, I say interpret the tradition as it applies to you. If you're a boy who likes boys, ask a boy. You don't have to go with a girl if that's not who you are. This should be something fun for us, not anything that makes people feel uncomfortable.

Yeah. Vampires. Hellmouths. Big bad pure demons. It's a thing. She's probably told you all about the weirdness that is our lives.

Not so much that as... [ she lives with vampires, her best friend here is a vampire. ] As there's a lot of supernaturally inclined people here. Vampires, those who can do magic, people who make a living off of fighting the forces of evil. It's every CW show come to life in this place.

Yeah, this place is like a melting pot for all the supernatural with a few normal people thrown in. I'd think it were a theme except for... normal people. So how do you know my sister? Not that it's uncommon, I mean everyone knows her cause of the whole super hero thing but... you know. How?

You sure you really want to know?

[ because fourth walling. though at least quinn never actually watched the show, so beyond buffy's basic job description and posters of buffy and angel that her sister had on her bedroom wall growing up, she knows nada about the buffyverse. ]

Uhm... that question is not at all creepy. [Except it is.] But... yes? Yes. I wanna know.

There was this TV show on when I was little that my sister was really into. It was called Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I never watched it, so I only know that the main character's name was Buffy and she slayed vampires. [ also something of the angel factor, but that's even awkwarder territory, she senses, that she's not about to venture into. ]

[There's a long moment of silence here. Because, really? And finally, she smirks.]

Of course there is. She gets her own reality show and I'm probably portrayed as background noise to her awesomeness there too. Cause, you know, real life imitating art and all that.

I think it was more of a horror-drama thing. Back with the WB still existed.

You’re… really serious? We’re a TV show. Like… okay but… wow. And cool. Cause you know, maybe there was some cute actress playing me… someone generally less clumsy and with great fashion sense. That would be cool.

I see nothing wrong with your fashion sense, now.

And this is why I like you and we will remain friends forever even in cheesy song form. You just call out my name and all that stuff about being there... in a less creepy, drama-filled way.
