We need a Sadie Hawkins. [ seemingly unprompted, but it's been on her mind for a while now. something wholesome and fun that everyone can participate in without pesky age requirements or being weary of stepping foot in a bar or a vampire-owned establishment. ] It's a dance - not as formal as prom, but there's usually a theme of some kind involved. For example, my sorority at Yale was planning on holding a Phantom themed Sadie Hawkins towards the end of the fall semester. Our theme will definitely not be anything involving Andrew Lloyd Webber. Rebekah and I will be working out those details - theme, where, when...

[ because her original vampire bestie is the obvious choice for partner in dance planning crime. ]

Another thing: the girls usually do the asking for a Sadie Hawkins. None of this misogynistic nonsense of waiting for a guy who's never going to notice you to ask you to go to the dance with him. You get to make him sweat and worry that no-one's going to ask him and he'll be forced to go stag. But, since I know not everyone is of the heterosexual persuasion here, I say interpret the tradition as it applies to you. If you're a boy who likes boys, ask a boy. You don't have to go with a girl if that's not who you are. This should be something fun for us, not anything that makes people feel uncomfortable.

[ kol hears everything quinn has stated, to the women asking the men, to the acceptance of every colour, shape, and sound, to the fact that this will be fun. while dancing isn't exactly his style, it's something. ]

[ but he's frowning as he turns on his communicator device. ] Who is Sadie Hawkins?

[ it's a small, minor moment of vulnerability, allowing himself to show he's not in the know, but, seriously, a dance where the women ask the men to a dance named after some broad is a situation that calls for kol to ask dumb questions. ]

She was originally this character in a 1930s comic. Sadie had no suitors, so her father set up this day for her where she could have her pick of the men without having to wait for one of them to choose her. In the 40s and 50s, the day became a dance and the tradition's carried on since then. Sadie was sort of the anti-Atalanta.

[ of course an ex-cheerleader with a background in dance planning would know the origins of the sadie hawkins off the top of her head. and a girl who was taking a greek mythology course at yale prior to being brought here would compare sadie to the arcadian princess, atalanta. ]

[ ding, ding, ding. kol tries not to feel disgruntled when he hears the number 1930. that's one of the many decades he'll never be able to experience. and while he doesn't know the things that came about from that decade, those around him do; it places him at a disadvantage. ]

How is it people who are not real are granted days that span decades over those who are? [ where is the kol mikaelson appreciation day? his brows are still furrowed, but rather than asking a question more to himself than to quinn, he addresses her with a smirk. ] I think I'd much prefer a spar with Atalanta. Dancing doesn't quite get the blood pumping in the same way.

I'm starting to believe I have these wardens all wrong. [ since their punishments seem like rewards, kol very much prefers the dome's ways of life than niklaus'. ]

[ it's a throwaway comment as kol's face softens slightly. prying information out of quinn about this sadie hawkins is much more interesting than compelling her to jump up and down. it's amazing how compliant one can be when they merely like you. ]

Why the sudden desire for a Sadie Hawkins?

They aren't always as bad as everyone says they are. They seem more... misguided to me than anything else. Good intentions, poor execution... [ a shrug. quinn's warden opinions are unpopular opinions. she resents them for bringing her here, but at the same time is willing to play nice in order to gain rehabilitation points and hopefully get the hell out of here one day. hopefully.

as for his question, she shrugs. ] I don't know. Boredom, I guess. Wanting something to do that wasn't put together by Caroline Forbes.

Does she put together a lot of things?

[ kol has to admit he's starting to feel the boredom seep into his bones. he's not very good at being bored. what he's good at, however, is spiting people, and if this sadie hawkins dance has been put together in an effort to spite, perhaps he can add this to his list of pros for quinn. ]

[ oh, it most definitely was put together in part to spite caroline. quinn doesn't care for her, and caroline being an enemy of sorts of rebekah's only helps that dislike along. it brings out the mean girl in here and makes her wish santana had stayed after visiting that one day with that huge wave of people so she had someone with more devious, willing claws to take a swipe at vampire barbie, lima heights style. ]

Oh yeah. [ e y e r o l l ] If there's something to be thrown, chances are, Caroline is going to throw it. I swear she does it for the attention. [ quinn used to do it for the attention, too. ]

Ah. [ yeah, kol doesn't understand teenage girls. but he does understand spitefulness. they might not be talking the exact same language here, but there's nothing being lost in translation. ] Attention seekers can be quite a pain.

I'm surprised there hasn't been an announcement of a counter-Sadie Hawkins. The boys ask the girls, instead. [ he shakes his head, as if the thought of a counter-sadie hawkins, especially after quinn's very brief lesson on who she is, is disappointing to him. ] Sounds very boring.

[ caroline is nothing to her. just a girl on a high school pedestal who got chanced with immortality. so what? quinn's a student at yale university, has already joined a sorority there, and mingled with jodie foster at their last party. maybe she hates the way caroline reminds her of her high school self, but whatever the reason, the dislike is strong with this one. strong enough for mean girl politics and spitefulness. ]

Those are usually called prom and every other dance in existence. No, thank you. I'm not doing another prom. I gave up Prom Queen to Rachel Berry once, I'm not doing it again.

[ truth be told, though: the write-in had been worth it. she was happy to do it and she did really miss rachel. ]

	[ kol thinks to ask who is rachel berry? but he's gaining the impression that being a teenage girl is really hard work, so he doesn't. he does frown, though; his moviecation has obviously been failing him if prom isn't the be all and end all of quinn's life. ] Isn't prom the one thing all girls live for? Some girls. This girl actually campaigned and fought for the crown twice, only to give it up and help forge ballots so someone else would win. The crown's nice, but it's not everything. Also, plastic, which isn't very valuable in the end. [ even if she'd really, really wanted it and would've treasured it like it were made of silver and adorned with diamonds if she'd won. ]
