Day 207 [Video] Early Evening

[The feed opens up with a close up of Helix's face and he's looking past the camera to someone else, who's holding the device.]

Okay, back up. [They comply and the view reveals that the teen is sitting at a piano.]

How's this?

[Some of you might recognize the soft, southern drawl as Aidan behind the communicator.

Helix nods and breaths deep before settling down on the bench, fingers hovering over the keys. He should probably address everyone and tell them what he's doing, but he thinks it's pretty obvious. So instead, he just starts playing this beautiful piece.

A certain Noah broke his wrist the other day but it seems to be working perfectly now. And when he's finished he closes his eyes, breathes out once more as if coming out of a meditative trance and turns to retrieve his communicator from Aidan.
]

That's it. Punishment fulfilled. Carry on.

[And the feed is shut off.]

[Hey, he doesn't deceive people! He just... sometimes doesn't tell the whole truth. And sometimes he phrases things to mean something completely different. And... stuff.]

Is that so? Aren't you a quick study, in that case.

Yeah. Thanks, my people have kind of an edge for learning things.

Mmhmm. Compared to the average human, or something else? [Someone thinks his people have an edge, too.]

Both. Most species are equal or lesser to human intellect, there are very few species that rival that of my people. Humans can reach our level but they are rare.

[Geniuses!]

Well, you never know. Your world could have been crawling with races that all make humans look like amoebae in comparision... in which case I would be impressed. [But outsmarting humans is, for the most part, not that difficult and therefore not particularly awe-inspiring.] But still, good on you for using some your talents on the arts.

Well, I guess world isn't really accurate either. More like Galaxy. We have space travel and lots of commerce or cities on different planets and stations.

When most of the populous of a galaxy is Average one or two species who are naturally above and beyond without any sort of real conditioning to make them that way is impressive. Actually my species is now extinct thanks to how special they were. I'm sorry you don't seem to understand.

Well, I'd argue that would be plain evolution and natural selection at work, but if you want to tack subjective terms such as "impressive" onto that process... [Anyway.] But I'm sorry to hear about your people. That's a poor way to treat any species no matter what the reasons.

[He could stand to sound more sorry, even if he does tone down the cheeriness a notch.]

[He scoffs slightly.]

And that's not even the half of it.

[The killing off of his species was that last horrible thing to befall them. It wasn't just cause they were different after all.]

Are we talking humans here? If so, I'm sure I can fill in at least some of the details well enough on my own. [Seriously, as much as he loves humans, they're a species of bastards. Which might be part of the reason he likes them so much, but still.]

A mostly human faction that wanted to gain military power with advanced star destroying weaponry. They had other species working with them to help enslave my people to build this technology for them since we're naturally gifted with technology.

You know, technological development-wise your world - galaxy, ahem - sounds like a blast. It might even stand to be compared to this one! [Tact, Puck, have you heard of it? Way to focus on the wrong thing.]

But as for your people... it's the curse of being gifted, or special in any way, sadly. ["Or weak and exploitable" he thinks, but wonder of wonders, doesn't say out loud.]

Guess we'll never know that. All we see is what they've accomplished in building this facility. Until we see the surface of the planet or what's beyond it we'll never know if it's the same.

Hell, we could be in my galaxy somewhere for all we know. This sort of thing is easily covered up, why would any outsiders need to know of this prisons existence?

[A shrug. If he were more sensitive about the subject that particular line might have pissed him off, but he's doesn't care as much as he probably should.]

I guess.
