[Out of the corner of his eye a woman in white appears and moves slowly towards him. The white dress billows as she walks on an invisible breeze. She reaches for him and he twists away, dancing back out of her reach. Her mouth moves, uttering something before she disappears once more.

His heart is racing a mile a minute and he looks pretty spooked at seeing her.]

[ Spike was just about to flip Sam a very incorporeal bird when the woman came floating through, throwing him right off his snarky game. It's an interesting reaction alright, he doesn't know all that much about the other and by the time the woman's disappeared he can barely contain himself, dark eyes locked on the shapeshifter. ]

The missus? [ A shot in the dark, but that was sure a wedding dress she was wearing.]

He does flinch a little, just a healthy amount of attempting to move but that ghostly hand reaches through his chest anyway. He watches it wave through him somewhat dumbfoundedly before growling a little at the blond.]

How would I know? Isn't that the point of a lie? Besides, that doesn't mean you can't lie to me. You're not exactly a nice guy, either.

I find it hard to believe you can keep yourself from being at least a little bit of a prick.

[No real offense meant there Spike, he just thinks its part of your personality, your quirk, your nature to be kind of an ass. Sam's not so sure he wants to see you being all sugary sweet either, might get real uncomfortable fast. He likes that attitude, even if he'll never admit to it.]

[ There's a laugh at that. A full, rich laugh for more reasons than Sam can really ever hope to understand — it's good to hear that there's at least one person here who still believes that he's a no-good asshole. It is part of his image, his persona and perhaps to some degree his demonic nature.

And then there's the other side of the coin. The fact that he's actually never lied to Sam. Omitted the truth or parts of it, perhaps, but never lied. It's not something he does, despite popular belief if only because the truth a much more entertaining weapon and unless the benefits of a lie are much greater, Spike tends to go for the truth. People can't handle that point-blank honesty.

There's a third side. William. The remnants of a soft-spoken, weak-limbed poet that never quite goes away. A nice guy that colors Spike's actions more than he's willing to admit — even more so in the hazy future that the Summers sisters have painted for him. It's a good thing that Sam doesn't believe in it. That means there's still hope.]

[Just sort of furrowing his brow a little bit at that laugh, then the tone? He sighs and just shakes his head here, a little defeated in trying to assume Spike will be tolerable company. He can at least imagine plenty, knowing damn well there was more to Spike's name, even if he never got the details of why (nor did he want to know).

He starts walking without much of a word. He won't--and can't--stop Spike if he follows along. He's sort of just come to grips with the idea the Vamp might hang around. He would prefer to be left alone but he's prepared to handle it regardless. He's had worst ghosts bother him today in any case.]
