[Slightly distracted by ghosts he doesn't notice the scent of a Werewolf nearby until the other draws his attention. He hasn't had much luck with were's so he's somewhat tense as Oz approaches, doing his best NOT to seem on the defensive.]

Yeah. I... [His eyes shift briefly to where Tommy was then back.]

I'm just seeing things. [Yeah that doesn't sound crazy but at least he was pretty sure he wasn't the only one. He's being a little hesitant and cautious about Oz. So far the kid didn't seem like a real threat.]

Today has a theme.

[He looks where Sam looks, still nothing so far, and then back to Sam. Not that Oz is the most reactionary kind of person ever, but nothing in his look says that he thinks Sam is crazy. In fact, he is the most calm.

His nostrils do flare again though, trying to understand exactly what Sam is. Not quite werewolf, but something... different. Something he hasn't encountered yet, which leaves him just a little bit cautious as well.]

I'm Oz.

A... theme?

[As calm as Oz is, it's easy to notice the slight cautious posturing or the safe distance he's keeping. That flare of his nostrils is familiar and coupled with his scent he knows what to look for in a fellow shifter. Sometimes the animal creeps into your being no matter how trained in being casual you are. Though if anyone else had seen them they may not have noticed much at all. Right now, it's all a matter of who budges first and makes themselves known.]

Sam. [This is where he'd normally offer his hand in greeting but he's keeping it to himself as he sort of sizes Oz up a little. Is it safe?]

Ghosts.

[Oz has been the alpha of a rather large pack back home for a long while now. Granted, they focused on controlling the beast rather than giving into it, but still, alpha. And that comes through as he finally steps forward and offers a hand in greeting. Oz is probably the safest Werewolf to know out of all the Werewolves.]

Sam. [A beat, as a discerning glint sparks in his eyes.] Curious.

Ghosts? [Apparently they will just repeat each other. No, wait. Ghosts makes sense. He nods. He's seen a few others floating around he didn't recognize, again, another thing that makes him believe he's at least not going completely crazy. He'd say something about that but right now he's more focused on Oz himself.

He hesitates but takes his hand, noting that sort of alpha presence. It's hard to shake that sort of way about yourself when you've been one for so long. Again, something most humans probably wouldn't readily notice. It would just seem like a calm confidence to anyone else.]

Yeah? Uh, there's another Sam wondering around. I'm Merlotte, Sam Merlotte. [Clearing his throat a little unsteadily. If he hadn't had mostly bad experiences with Werewolves this wouldn't be so awkward. He's a little intimidated even if the kid doesn't seem dangerous in the slightest. Trust issues are hard to ignore.]

I... don't want any trouble. [Voice lowered some, but still carrying a firm seriousness. Not that he thought Oz was looking for some, just getting that out in the open that HE wasn't a threat to Oz.]

Ghosts. [Not that Oz had seen any of his own yet. But he's seen others, people he didn't recognize but that others seemed to know. Personally, he's glad that he hasn't yet and hopefully wont be affected. He's seen a lot of death. He doesn't need to relive it.

The handshake itself is assessing. Firm but quick. A world of conversation going on somewhere beneath the surface of what most would see or understand.]

Sam Merlotte. Not to be confused with Sam Winchester. Got it.

[At the last comment, he takes a step back, more of a gesture to show that he isn't trying to cause any trouble, and wouldn't. But he doesn't step so far back that it opens the door for Sam to cause trouble for him.] I'm not a trouble kind of guy. So... what exactly are you? Not quite werewolf.

[Matching the handshake before the casual release. His eyes do dart around, senses going a little on overdrive to be sure no one was within earshot.]

That's good. [He starts slow, but eventually comes out with it now that it's all on the table..]

Not at all really. We don't exactly like t'lump ourselves in with Were's, no offense. Jus' there's a bad reputation t'go along with your kind that gets ours killed faster than we'kin defend ourselves.

I'm a Shifter. [They're really not that different all things considered though.]

None taken. [He doesn't like to be lumped in with himself either, truth be told. His life is spent trying to not be a werewolf. Especially since his kind of werewolf isn't the kind that's in control of itself in wolf form. When he's a wolf, he's completely a monster, destructive and out of control, looking for food.]

Shifter. [He considers that for a long moment, trying to understand exactly what that is. He's never run into or even heard of shifters.] So you can... anything?

The wolves where I'm from, they just turn into wolves whenever they want unless its a full moon. They generally get together in a pack that night and do it like a ritual. They're like biker gangs with a leader and everythin'

[So he's not really sure what its like for you Oz, even the werewolves in his world have free reign over their shift. Poor guy.]

They also aren't like in the movies with the half man/half wolf thing.

	Heh, well I don't think they're prone to leather. Lots of jeans and ... well, to be frank, plenty of the werewolves I know are kind of trash. I don't think you'd fit inta their lifestyle.
