Doin' some back-tagging~~

So, just as a warning for everyone, I'm going through old starred conversations in gmail and tagging back on things from as long ago as January 1st. I'm doing this because introing Buffy (and then immediately introing Gin) meant I focused a lot on her (and then him) and left a lot of tags for my other boys in the dust. XD

S, so I'm playing catchup. IF YOU DON'T WANNA TAG BACK ON SOMETHING SO OLD, you aren't obligated!! Also, if there's a thread from even like December that you specifically want me to tag, let me know. :3 Links are also helpful. X3

If we had a tag for it, this post would be tagged lose and fail. *cuddles all of you*

1. We are officially phasing out the Ask Sentience post! The links and content pages do not currently reflect this, but we will no longer be answering questions there! Update your brains, and we will update the official info shortly.

If you have a question to ask Sentience, please find the most recent day post (the easiest way to do so is Sentience's tag) and put [kiosk] in the subject line, to differentiate between a network response to the day post, and an in-person question at the kiosk.

As usual, Sentience does not respond to network posts directed at it. ♥

2. There has been an additional rule added to the application page. This rule establishes two things.

First, you cannot apply for a game that isn't released in English. That means that even though Final Fantasy XIII is out in Japan, and everyone is having a great time with it over there, and there's probably content from it all over the internet, you cannot apply for a character from FFXIII until after it has been released in English for one week.

Second, you should try to avoid using untranslated material for characterization. If you read one sentence in a wikipedia article that references a random forum denizen paraphrasing a scene from a Japanese novel that states that a character you like had a secret history working at a strip club, do not app them gushing about their stripper background. For all you know without context or source, that information might be mistranslated (strip club turns out to be one radical away from yacht club in Japanese), or isn't the whole story (your smoking-hot promiscuous female character was actually the bouncer), or just plain wrong (other canon material states she was a nun until the minute your canon started).

Don't let unproven information change your characterization or your way of thinking. Wait until the novel is translated, the interview is scanned and citable, the sequel comes out, etc.

As usual, talk to the mods if you want clarification for your situation, or you really, really want the stripper canon. This rule has been unofficially in practice for a while now, so it's time to make it visible for everyone.

3. What do you guys think about Monday newbie rush?

Two Mondays in a row now we've had about fifteen new intros. We all love feeling like our game is getting popular, but do we all love feeling either chained to our computers every Monday, or like we have to ignore things our characters might otherwise respond to for the sake of our sanity?

There's a few options we can go with to ease the flood. We can stagger the admissions to the community (some Monday, some Tuesday, etc). We can switch to doing apps every other week or hold app periods, where you can only app between a certain time frames, so that at least some Mondays would be free for your plots.

We don't need to do anything right now, but we want your thoughts! What do you think?

Edit: Doing apps more often is not one of the options, so please focus those thoughts on alternative possibilities.

4. Locale page has been updated. Feel free at any time to leave a comment on that page with a short description of any new locations that have been ICly added.
