Continuity issues
So, let's talk QaF continuity issues.

I've noticed a bunch of them, but I'm always distracted by Brian's avocado and peanut butter jar juggling act in 202 when Jen's asking him to take Justin. He goes from cutting the avocado to opening the peanut butter jar (without any movement in between) and putting the lid and the jar down, back to cutting the avocado while the jar is magically sitting there closed again, more cutting the avocado while the jar is magically sitting there open again, to opening the peanut butter jar and putting the lid down again.

Is there one that never ceases to amuse or irritate you?

Debbie going to Vic's place and someone shouting off-camera, "Put down the umbrella, Sharon!" lol There's others, but that's the one that comes to mind.

Not quite continuity exactly, but still an editing faux pas. Lol! The first time I noticed that, everyone I was with thought I was insane. I had to give them earphones before they agreed with me that it was really there.

dude, i must live in some sort of blissful la-la land. i have never ever noticed this thing of which you speak in 202. Now i must go find it. and i'm certain it will drive me insane forever.

One of the things i do always notice is suddenly blond gus. i can't remember the episode right now off the top of my head but we have baby gus who is clearly dark haired and toddler gus who is clearly dark haired and then one day in s2 we are sitting at the diner with blond gus. um, weren't there any other dark haired babies available?

Haha, me too! I'm not quite sure if I am just not paying enough attention, or maybe I'm just too distracted by shirtless, sex-haired Brian.

I kinda noticed the Gus thing, though now that you mention it I've hunted down scenes for reference: In the 202 Birthday scene, Gus is pretty dark-haired. Then, at the beginning of episode 203, when Brian is talking to Lindsay and Melanie (when Gus first starts to walk), he is very obviously blond. Umm...Maybe Brian got him highlights?

Sorry hon. Hope it doesn't make you too crazy.

As for Gus, I know! And that kid (those kids) aren't credited in those episodes either. In all fairness though, I've known kids who went from almost no but dark hair as babies, to blond around a year old, then darkening steadily to brown later. But Gus' transformation is a bit too sudden.

The random blond baby Gus drives me nuts as well. I'm also highly amused by the frequent wardrobe reuse.

That scene is 202 has always bothered me. It's such bad editing.

The other one I notice every time I watch it is in episode 308. It's the scene where Justin is at Vanguard with his feet propped up reading a magazine and Brian walks in. Brian writes down notes of what he needs for the Eyeconics presentation and then puts the paper down on the table near Justin. The very next shot focuses on Justin and the paper Brian sat down has mysteriously disappeared.

I *finally* noticed that a while back...you'd mentioned it to me *ages* ago, but you didn't tell me what it was. I couldn't believe I'd never seen it before, because it seems so obvious now.

And yeah, the avocado/peanut butter one pulls me out of that scene EVERY SINGLE TIME.

I cracks me up when I pay attention to it, but I must say, if I let myself just be absorbed by the story and focus on Jen, I don't notice it much.

Hunh. I never noticed that 308 one. Interesting. I'll have to look for it next time I watch that episode.

I'm sorry but nothing comes to mind right now. Maybe I don't pay close enough attention to those details...I'll come back later, if I think of something.

That's totally okay. You're absorbed in the story. Nothing wrong with that. :)

Of course, now that you've read all the examples here, you'll probably start noticing them. Just please don't hate me for ruining the illusion. ;)

I've got two scenes that alway kinda freak me out...

One is the classroom scene in 116 before Justin tells his teacher "fuck you". What is up with his freaking backpack? It's on, it's off, it's on, its off...AARRRGGG!

The other is the Pole!Sex scene 218(I think) and Justin's pants. I don't know maybe the director was doing some kinda visual thingy (kinda like the office scene in 308)but Justin's pants go up and down his ass so much it should make Brian jealous. Really throws me out of the scene.

Lol. I've noticed dozens of these issues, but I've never noticed either of those! I'll have to make a point of looking for them on my next go round.

Pole!sex also has that weird edit in the middle where there is a close-up of Brian's hand on Justin's and it looks like Justin may be wearing Brian's bracelet. It is only for a moment. I've seen conjecture that this may be a private joke of Randy & Gale's, but I've never seen anything confirming this fact.

I never know if they do this in sex scenes just as an editing style thing, because ALL of the undressing sex scenes are edited this way. the long kiss at the end of 219 Brian takes Justin's jacket off twice. In "ready to go" there's undressing things over again, in 308 reunification there's the double take (here it's more obvious and assumed to be a style choice) but it happens ALL the time.

I've rewatched the pole!sex scene 10 times now looking for this -- expected it to be like the reunion!sex scene where they loop the same bit a few times for effect -- but I gotta say, I just don't see it here. We see B pull his pants part way down, then the rest of the way down. I never see them back up. *shrug*

But I totally see the backpack thing! I can't believe I never noticed that before! It's dizzying.

Hmm, perhaps I'm confusing it with another scene then. I'll admit, it's been a while since I've been able to watch some of the later season 2 episodes, so I may have mixed it up a bit. Sorry to have sent you on a wild goose chase. If I track it down and figure it out I'll let you know.

The 202 issue you mentioned is the only one I've ever noticed on my own. I tend to get hung up on the timeline issues. I am conviced there is something messed up with the order of day/night scenes in 206, but I've never quite been able to figure it out.

In s1 there's an episode where Daph and Justin are walking out of St. James when earlier we see them walk in and in-between they cut to Ted, Emmett, Brian, Michael at Babylon.

When Justin is about to get suspended at school by Dickhead Deekins. When Justin and Hobbs are fighting, Justin's backpack is on his left shoulder, then his right, then falls off his left shoulder, then is back on his right should, then is not on, then is on his right shoulder again.
