Who: EVERYBODY.
What: The TWD crew is hosting a 4th of July celebration. Food, alcohol, fireworks -- come one, come all.
When: Thursday, July 4. All evening.
Where: Down by and around the lake.
Rating/Warnings: Just off the top of my head I'm going to guess language, juvenile delinquents, and possibly some public drunkenness. It is the 4th, after all.
Status: OPEN.

The basic schedule will look like this:

12:00 PM - Those wishing to help setup start arriving.
5:00 PM - Party goers not involved in setup start arriving.
6:30 PM - Grilling starts.
6:45 PM - Plates are being served.
8:00 PM - The Grill is fired down.
9:00 PM - Daryl and Rick shoot off the homemade rockets, six total.
9:45 PM - Hermione's grand finale firework show.
Cleanup and kicking people out will happen whenever people start getting tired. This is a Southern even, after all. They'll let it last high into the morning if that's what people want! No passing out by the lake, though.

NOTE: This is how the group thread is going to go down - Location threads have already been started within the post. The area and time are designated in the subject line. Comment to the areas you want your characters to play at, and put in the subject line of your comment who is participating in the thread or if it is open.

For example, if you decided to comment the GRILLING AREA - 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM thread, you would change the subject line to OPEN TO GRILLERS or DARYL/OPEN TO OTHERS WAITING IN LINE FOR FOOD. Then, as soon as someone joined, you may change the subject line to DARYL/RICK - CLOSED so that everybody would know that it's now become just a one-on-one convo between the two conversations.

Can I be in more than one subthread at once? Yes. Because there are events happening at different times, your character can easily be flitting around from person to person, mingling their lil' butt off. Just remember that it makes sense. You probably can't be standing in line at the same time as you're wandering along the forest edge waiting for everybody else to get their food first as those two events wouldn't work. But you could definitely be waiting in line for food, have a conversation, and then go sit down to eat and have another conversation. It's a party! Mingle!

And if in doubt? Ask! (Oh, and don't forget to tag yourself as you throw your characters in!)

I've added plenty of description for everyone to know what they are looking at, but I am not perfect! If I have forgotten something, feel free to pretend that I didn't and mention that it's there.

Last Note: Snap pops and sparklers are available for everyone.

That he considered her arrival good news made a faint, but genuine, smile flicker briefly across her face. The fact that she felt the loss of his hand from hers so keenly wasn’t something she let herself dwell on; it was simply a reaction to the news he had told her, that was all. “Well, I appreciate you waiting for me,” she replied. There wasn’t as much teasing to her tone as there might have been, had she not just had her feet knocked out from under her, but there was some.

"Nobody enjoys drinking alone," Obi-Wan replied with a wan smile. He glanced at her again. "Have you considered what you're going to do with your second chance?" he asked her. "Not many get a chance to revisit their regrets after they've thought it too late."

Regrets...

Siri met his gaze for a moment, before looking away. Their conversation, one of their last before her death at the hands of Magus was all too fresh in her mind. They’d spoken of regrets, of the past... She shook her head. No. That wasn’t something she should dwell on, either. They hadn’t had that conversation yet, for him. “No. I haven’t. Not yet.” She hadn’t even begun to come to terms with the fact that she wasn’t dead (what was she, anymore), and with the news he’d given her now... she was more lost than ever. “I’ll figure something out.” She always did.

"You know you don't have to do that alone," he reminded her with another sidelong glance.

“I wouldn’t presume. Not here. Not...” There was a difference in not being alone, and not doing something alone. She was all too aware of the first, and the relief familiar faces brought. For the second, he was the one person she would want to have by her side, here. Anywhere, really. And Siri wasn’t sure she had the right to. She wasn’t sure of anything, at the moment.

"It's not a presumption; we've been friends for a long time." Friends. They always called it friendship. It was friendship, of course. That was where they chose to halt things. "Do you think I'd let you do it alone, even if you said you wanted to?" he asked. He looked at her. "Would you let me, if our places were reversed?" Not that they were entirely dissimilar here.

The word was... weighted, for them. Had been for a very long time. But he was one of her closest friends. Having him there with her was something she appreciated. She smiled. “No, I don’t think you would. And no, I wouldn’t. You’re stuck with me.” It would be easier, being there for him than it would be dealing with her own issues. She reached out and touched his arm. “But we’re in similar positions right now. We’re both finding our footing. Dealing with the situation we’ve found ourselves in.” And she had DIED. It felt like a presumption to assume their friendship would continue as it had for so long, after something so... final. That was supposed to be final. Though he hadn’t yet lived through it. “It would be understandable.”

"Would it? I think it would make little sense, when we're so clearly in the same boat, to abandon each other to the current." He glanced at her sidelong. "It would amount to abandoning ourselves as well."

“Yes. It would,” she told him. “There would be nothing wrong if you dealt with acclimating yourself first.” He’d told her he would be there for her, and she knew he would be. But she couldn’t burden him with this. Not with her death, and the after-effects of returning to life. Not when he was in a similar situation, dealing with the same displacement and news of their future. It was bad enough she’d broken the news of her death to him so poorly.

Her smile was crooked, and fond. “But I appreciate that you are so stubbornly refusing to go anywhere.”

"It's not about stubbornness," Obi-Wan insisted. "Acclimating will be easier for both of us with a familiar... element around." He looked at her. "Anakin's life here is different, Siri. I can accept that, but he's not my student anymore - not the adult - and he's not practicing the Order's beliefs. He outright contests some of them. Having someone around who understand how I see things, why I feel a certain way about things, will help the process, not hinder it." He half shrugged and glanced down. "Maybe that's selfish. But I've felt less... alone since you arrived."

Siri blamed the infinitesimal catch in her breath, the flutter in her chest, on the situation, and all that she had learned. And it was true, at least in part. She would have barely stopped to notice it if she hadn’t just had her world torn apart again. That was why she slid her hand down his arm, tangling her fingers with his and squeezing his hand before pulling away. “Having you here has done the same for me.” It wasn’t as though it was a confession that meant anything at all. It was just the simple truth.

"I'm glad," he told her truthfully. "I wouldn't want all of this to be more difficult for you than necessary. Especially not... with everything you've gone through. I..."

He trailed off. Her future death, to come so soon once he went back, was still a difficult thing to come to terms with. He'd go back, and then she'd... be gone. Just... snuffed out, like a candle. Her warm presence in the Force would leave a cold hole in its place. And so soon. So soon.

"Well, I suppose it wouldn't do for me to presume to know what you're going through at all."

“I wouldn’t want you to know. To experience...” Siri trailed off, a shiver running down her spine as she looked away. She would do anything to keep him from knowing the memory of his own death. It was largely the reason she’d been sleeping so little since her arrival. She kept dreaming of it.

She very nearly reached out and touched him again. It was a habit she’d tried to break herself of, ever since the undercover mission with Krayn. It never quite took, and it was all the worse now, it seemed, a way to reassure herself that she was real, that she was there.

"I can sense your uncertainty," he told her. "But I don't know what it is you're uncertain about. If you don't feel you can confide in me, you should confide in someone. Seek advice. Until you find the answer you're looking for, it will be hard for you to find peace."

“There are no answers, Obi-Wan. This is all...” Words that she wanted to say, but could not burden him with, tightened her throat. She had broken the news of her death badly; she wouldn’t make it worse by sharing details he didn’t need. He didn’t need to know that a large part of the uncertainty he sensed was the uncertainty of her existence.

“It’s nothing.” That was a lie, it was anything but nothing. There was a pause, as her desire – her NEED – to talk about it, to at least make the pointless attempt to somehow talk her way through everything, and her fierce determination to protect him from this tangled in her chest. “I broke the news of my death to you badly. I cannot – WILL not – burden you with this. It isn’t something you should have to bear.” He would live through it soon enough, upon his return to their world.

His brow creased in consternation. "You caught me off-guard; it wasn't a burden. It's not a burden, it's a fact of this place. It seems to enjoy cruel timing, perhaps, but what could you possibly tell me that's more shocking and troublesome than that?" he asked.

She couldn't have expected him to simply accept that reasoning and start walking again. She knew him far too well.

Siri made an irritated noise. She had known he wouldn’t simply accept her reasoning... but she had HOPED. “You haven’t lived through it yet. You don’t know the details. It would be... cruel to force that on you twice. It’s bad enough you have to live through it at all when you...” Go back were the words she left unsaid. They were unneeded.

There was so much she should have been beside him for. He shouldn’t have had to suffer Anakin’s betrayal alone. She should have been there, beside him. For everything. Guilt and loss twisted in her chest anew.

"You should talk to someone, Siri. If not me, then someone who doesn't..." Who doesn't care as much as I do. "Someone who would be a neutral party," he amends quietly. "But you can't just shoulder the burden alone until it drives you into the ground."

He reached out, then, and - almost gingerly - touched his fingertips to her arm. It was a gesture meant to be a physical reassurance by someone not accustomed to giving them.

"But if you change your mind, I assure you I would listen."

“If I was going to talk to anyone... It would be you.” Her voice was more pained than she would have liked. “I just... can’t. Not about this. Not about my death. Not yet.” Maybe not ever. There was so little that she could do to spare him pain. But she could do this. She froze, glancing down in surprise, to where his fingertips touched her arm. For Obi-Wan, that little gesture spoke volumes. It was almost a hug. And it almost pushed her to her breaking point.

"I'm sorry." He withdrew his hand, thinking he'd overstepped his bounds. He cleared his throat and turned to start walking again. "How about that drink?" he suggested.

As he turned and started walking again, without thinking, without hesitation, Siri reached out and grabbed his hand. “You don’t have anything to apologise for, Obi-Wan. Especially that.” It was just a surprise.

She didn’t allow herself to contemplate the loss she had felt when he had withdrawn his hand. The after-effects of returning to living and hearing the news of the future was the cause. That was all.

Her sudden gasp of his hand stopped him, turned him back to her. He met her eyes for a long moment, then, unable to find something to say, simply nodded slowly.

As he turned again, giving her hand what he hoped was a reassuring squeeze, he said, awkwardly, "I only wish I could be more help."

She should have let go of him, should have pulled her hand away. But the truth was that standing there, his hand in hers, made her feel more grounded, more real, than she had since her sudden return to living.

Squeezing his hand gently in return, she fell into step beside him again. “You’re here, Obi-Wan. That’s more than enough.”
