WHO Everyone (party post!)
WHAT The Grand Opening of WWW & Magic Ally
WHEN Saturday afternoon (forward dated)
WHERE MV Community Center
WARNINGS hopefully none but kick me if needed
STATUS Party Post

Magic Ally was finally ready to be opened. Hermione and Fred had worked together to get both shops ready for a Grand Opening, with a Floo set up between both shops and instructions clearly laid out next to each of the fireplaces.

Magic Ally itself was decorated with floating orbs of light that changed colors every few minutes and everything was freshly stocked and organized. There were high tops set up with various finger foods and non-alcoholic drinks in turn. Everyone was encouraged to browse and shop, and Hermione provided each person who ventured into the store a coupon discounting any purchase anyone made.

Fred and George were supposed to have their Grand Opening in the middle of January, but with George's departure from Madison Valley, Weasley Wizard Wheezes delayed it's Grand Opening a few weeks. Luckily, Hermione was willing to go in and do a joint opening with him.

He had set up some tables of snacks and drinks at his own shop, and he had made sure there were more than enough products available on the shelves. The shop consisted of a few floors, the bottom floor catering toward the muggles of Madison Valley. The bottom floor consisted of any joke product that anyone could use, regardless of their magic ability. The rest of the shop catered toward the magic users of the town. Anyone could go anywhere in the shop, but there were plenty of signs on the upper floors warning the non-magic users of the dangers of using the magical jokes.

He wanted to encourage anyone who came into the shop to browse wherever they pleased, he just wanted to make sure that everyone understood that some of the products were not meant for some people in the town.

While Lena was not a supernatural being, she had experience with them in spades. Between being friends with aliens and working on technology and science that could be considered highly advanced for the time, normal was much different for her.

With a drink in hand, Lena was busying herself with glancing through the books. There were plenty that she had never heard of, which had drawn her over, to begin with. As most were magical-based, it was possible that she could not actually use them. That didn't mean, of course, that they wouldn't be an interesting read through at least once or twice.

Oz of course had helped out with everything, which usually ended up with Hermione telling him what needed to be done yet and him stepping in to do anything he was capable of. He was good at rigging and fixing just about anything you needed even if he wasn't in construction and he'd done a lot of fetching, carrying and helping to rearrange...or at least giving his opinion on the rearranging because when Hermione was doing it things usually flew through the air with no heavy lifting needed.

"Feels like my high school library." Oz hadn't seen that many spell and information books together since research time at Sunnydale High.

"It is quite extensive." And yet Lena understood none of it. It was rather intimidating, but that was something Lena never let deter her. If she did, there were many opportunities she had taken that would not have happened.

"And even more amazing. Everyone involved did an absolutely amazing job. I suspect that this place will become quite popular very quickly." Lena smiled, turning her full attention to Oz.

"I'm Lena, by the way."

Hermione had checked out Fred's shop before the opening and thought it was just the perfect touch of home. He was very brave, allowing anyone into the shop, but Hermione understood why he did it and respected that. She just wished to be more careful, was all. Now that the store was officially open, she was doing her best not to hover too much.

Instead, she took the opportunity to mill about and help anyone who looked like they had a question or if they were browsing intently. She very desperately wanted this to be successful and she hoped so much that it was. The Magical Community here was reasonably sized, but not centralized in any way. Magic Ally, she hoped, would provide the place for just that.

She grabbed one of the ciders off a drinks table and inclined her head in greeting to the next person she saw. "Welcome to Magic Ally."

Having reopened her own shop on Thursday, Melissa could understand the importance of making a splash for such an occasion. Though she'd kept the opening on the quiet side, she could appreciate what both new shops were doing this weekend. It was important to make a splash your first time out and Melissa hoped that by showing up, she might be able for a bond with the two owners and maybe increase business for herself. After all, they were all magic related, were they not? Of course, Melissa's was a bit more on the fortunetelling side, she hoped the two could still appreciate it as a sort of magic.

Arriving, Melissa decided to check out Magic Alley first. It was supposed to have supplies for people like herself and she hoped to replenish a bit of her magic stock by making the trip. The setting was lovely and she lucky enough to be greeted by the owner herself upon her entry. "Thanks. You did a really good job on the place," Melissa complimented easily. She wished she could spice up her own in such a manner.

Though Prim was still adjusting to being her younger self again, she still wanted to explore the new magic places opening in Madison Valley. Granted, Prim possessed no magical abilities or talent herself, but there was something enchanting about the idea alone that drew the blond in. There was also the fact that she never skipped out on a chance to learn something new and magic was remained foreign and out of reach despite her time in Madison Valley and minor experience with it on occasion. Free food was also a good incentive to give the two places a look around.

Having decided on visiting the joke shop of sorts first, Prim wandered around, nibbling on a few items on her plate. It was an interesting sort of concept to create a magical joke shop and while she leaned on the side of caution when it came to many items within the shop, the blond remained fascinated it with it. She wasn't much for jokes of the normal variety, but magic tended to make things a whole lot more interesting.

Briar recognized Prim from around. They were about the same age, so they'd probably wound up at the same sorts of things and they'd probably wound up sitting at the opposite ends of the same table over lunch at school or something. He wasn't sure, but it didn't matter. He was pretty sure she didn't have any magic in her.

He did, though, and had decided to check out the shops that had opened. He didn't need ingredients and tools the same way some others did, but he there were things he could do with. Crystals, stones, herbs, those were in his wheelhouse. And as a teenage boy, of course he wound up drifting toward the joke shop too.

He wandered over to her while she looked at things. "Anything interesting?"

Amberle was curious about the magical community in Madison Valley. She didn't have any magic herself, but she felt sensitive to it in some ways because of her connection with the Ellcrys. The shop, Magic Ally, held some interesting texts, but she thought Wil might find more use out of it than she would. Instead, she spent the majority of her time in Weasley's Wizard Wheezes.

The products were ludicrous and silly, but each description made her smile. Some were funny because they were genuinely amusing to her and some were funny because she couldn't quite believe anyone would want to prank someone in that way. Amberle ended up putting each one back on the shelf and she genuinely tried not to be in anyone's way.

"Apologies," she said, when she felt someone come up behind her.

Hotaru was not normally a "joke" sort of person, but somehow she found herself at the latest opening of a joke shop. It was of the magical variety and while Hotaru's sort of magic was nothing like what was being sold here, she found herself in the shop anyway. Part of it was that she was looking for a distraction from all that "adulthood" stuff that had been her life for the past week or so. It felt good to be...herself again. Entering a joke shop was probably taking a lot on faith considering all of that, but Hotaru was curious.

Looking around, Hotaru spotted a few things that caught her eye. It was all a risk though and for the moment Hotaru chose the snack table. There was quite the decent spread and Hotaru put a few things on a plate before deciding to wander the store. All of it was mildly amusing, but Hotaru felt the magic the senshi possessed was much more real than what was displayed on the shelf. Catching sight of some trinket she almost tripped and fell into someone. Luckily, the girl turned around in time and Hotaru recognized her instantly. "Amberle, hey," she greeted, accent a bit heavy with the words.

Ariadne was more curious than she really wanted to admit, in part because she knew she would never be able to wield any of it. As far as she understood it, magic was something innate, not learned like being an Architect was. She would have to talk to Arthur about taking some time in the PASIV.

In the meantime, she was browsing the shelves of Magic Ally, trying to see what books caught her interest. It was amazing to her, what witches and wizards were capable of, and just how many different kinds of magic there were. "And this is just a fraction of it," she murmured, more to herself than anything else. She hadn't noticed someone coming up to her.

She probably hadn't noticed because Star had been playing with the floo network. It was almost as fun as teleporting! which meant she'd been going back and forth between the shops instead of actually shopping or helping to show off her bean bags and color changers.

She had managed to keep herself from running into anyone so far but she had flung herself out of the fireplace ery enthusiastically and ended up stopping not too far from the woman looking at the books.

"Just a fraction of what?" Star's hair was a little wild with a lock of it stuck up over her horned headband and she was grinning from the last trip still.

Elizabeth had no skill in magic, but her curiosity was still piqued, especially after 'meeting' Mal and Evie last week. Besides, there was nothing in the invitation to say that non-magic users couldn't attend either. There was enough against 'refugees' already without there being infighting.

She was about to help herself to the drinks, when her eyes caught the sight of the bookshelves. Soon as that happened, she left any other thought of refreshment out of her head, instead going over to the shelves to see what was on offer. Something of her father's influence, reading was a past time she enjoyed nearly as much as sparing and killing zombies. Perhaps there was a title or two here that might even be useful.

Wes had lent a couple of his books to the shop, for display only of course, his books weren't for sale, but they were available for others to look at. Naturally that meant he was there for the Grand Opening, to check out the shops.

He was not a magic user himself, but he was quite familiar with the practice. He made a point to keep himself informed of those who were capable of using magic within Madison Valley. And while there were no doubt others in attendance of the Grand Opening who were not actually users themselves, the event was a good place to encounter magic users.

He greeted Elizabeth with a nod. "This is quite the collection of books, isn't it?"

Naturally James was in attendance at the magic shop opening. For one, he was on good terms with Granger, very good terms, he'd go so far as to say familial even. She was like a niece or a cousin who was a touch strange but good people and James did like having her around even if they weren't the closest. He let her be more Lily's friend, and that was fine he had Sirius.

As long as he had Sirius, James couldn't possibly be unhappy.

He drifted more towards the joke shop, though, hopping through the floo network, leaving Harry with Lily, to check it out. Since it had been open before its grand opening, he'd been before of course. But it was more his sort of thing than magical supplies. And he and the Weasley boy got on. So he browsed around through all the jokes, admiring the ingenuity of them.

James & Fred

2018-02-03 01:33 pm UTC (link)
When Fred was a kid he'd loved practical joke stuff. He'd even gone so far as to order some of the joke things from the backs of comic books and even though the x-ray glasses never worked and the sneeze powder had been eaten by the family dog he'd still had a good time with it all. So it was sort of a nostalgia thing to go to the joke shop.

Of course it was much more colorful than the things he'd bought as a kid and they looked more like they would actually work than the things he'd gotten from the comic books. And he was also just kind of enjoying the fact he didn't keep disappearing randomly. That week with Sue's powers hadn't been his favorite. Your hands disappearing when you're trying to hit a nail was disconcerting at best.

"These are pretty cool. Guess I haven't looked at joke stuff in too long." Fred was used to a small town where you talked to people even if you didn't know them and James looked like he might be more the age to know what was popular.

Naturally when there was an official opening of a real magic shop in Madison Valley, Paige was in attendance. She loved the idea of it. A real centre for the local magical community, with resources and supplies and shared knowledge. It reminded her a little of what she'd always wanted the Coven to be, and she hadn't had one of those in a very long time. Not since she'd met Lucas, really. In her world, a witch loving a sorcerer was not something the community would tolerate, and honestly with all the crap they'd put her through and the way they'd treated her after her mother's death, she was better off without them.

This was so much better.

She'd brought the babies, of course, couldn't go anywhere without them at only three months old, to the day actually, but she had managed to make sure they were both fed and changed and napping so she could at least spend a half hour or so looking around. And she did, making a beeline for the books almost as soon as she arrived, pulling one of spells off the shelf and browsing each page.

Aside from the likes of Regina Mills and Rumplestiltskin, Jefferson had had a means of powerful magic as well. His hat allowed any and all travel through a variety of lands and realms through portals. Thus it had always been an object of great demand. High demand usually meant a strong income even if it was alarmingly dangerous more often than not.

That was not the case here, though. Though Jefferson had his hat, the level of power and magic had greatly decreased. The lack of magic over the course of twenty-some years in Storybrooke had not been kind to it or him. While he could use it here and there to travel around Madison Valley, Jefferson was still cautious. The last thing he wanted was to lose it entirely.

Which was why he had strolled into the grand opening of the plethora of magic, hat resting on his head and duster sweeping along the ground. Perhaps he could find something to bolster the hat's magic to ensure it's lifespan.

Instead, he came across Paige and the little ones. "Teaching them young," he commented with a grin. "Very smart."

He had been rather curt with Hermione, though did not necessarily mean to come off as such. It was, sadly, his natural state of being. The knowledge that he held in regards to mystical arts was considerably large, though much were not found in books. It was merely what he had learned, retained, and mastered while studying under the watchful eye of The Ancient One. The teachings he had learned through books had been the base of everything he could do; everything he had done. It was not meant for just anyone.

Still, Stange's curiosity was peaked. An entire area filled to the brim with an abundance of magic was a place he certainly had to see to believe. Especially after being without it for the past week. Though he had gone his entire life without the knowledge he had now, not being able to utilize his abilities had felt nearly as crippling as his injuries.

He had already begun a small pile of items that his trusted sidekick - the Cloak of Levitation - was carrying beside him. While he didn't show off such things too much in the public eye, Strange believed it safe to do so here. The Eye was still hidden, though, as it would remain.

"I am not getting a book on flying carpets," he groaned as the cloak flipped it about using its bottom hemline.

Even though the young woman was older than both Lily and James, she considered her near a daughter mostly because of knowing that she was Harry's best mate in the future.

She had Harry with her, so she couldn't browse as well as she'd like, but she was mingling and making sure everyone was finding what they needed. Something caught her son's attention and he started pulling her away from the bookshelf she was perusing. "Harry, what is it?" she asked.

It was pretty easy to see what had him enthralled when she spotted the a man with piece of cloth floating behind him that seemed to be encouraging him to purchase a book. "LOOK!" Harry said, walking up to get a closer look at the whole scene.

Piper was not going to miss the opening of the magic shop. She pretty much promised Hermione she wouldn't. Besides, she felt like she had to be here. She'd given the other woman some advice on this whole thing. She wanted to see it through.

When she arrived, she took it all in. She was quite impressed with everything, and she was proud of Hermione. All that hard work had paid off. The shop was wonderful.

Piper & Adrian

The only magic Adrian was really familiar with was Moroi magic - control of one of the five elements. It had never really occurred to him before coming to Madison Valley that there were other types of magic, or that humans could do magic at all. Since he'd had Sydney's memories for a week he was now aware that she could do magic as well, of a very different type than the Moroi. And he'd been told there were other types of magic here besides hers. He was both intrigued and a little frightened by it. So when he heard there was a magic shop opening, he decided to check it out.

Naturally, being Adrian, he still noticed and gravitated towards the beautiful women. He definitely wasn't here with the intention of picking someone up, but hey, if it happened he wouldn't complain.

He looked around at the shelves, and picked up an item almost at random. "Do you think this stuff actually works?" He asked the woman who happened to be standing next to him.

Fred was excited about the grand opening of Weasley's Wizard Wheezes. He was also glad Hermione was willing to do a joint grand opening of their shops. He felt it would bring in a lot of business, and that it would introduce people to things they might not necessarily have found otherwise.

He was greeting everyone who came in the store, or at least trying to. He had worked hard to get everything ready for today, and he was pleased with the outcome. He felt today was going to be a good day.

For someone like Zoe, she was a bit go a homebody. Sure, it was hard for her to believe that Connor had already left town, but in an odd sense, it didn’t bother her. Still, this was a chance for her to turn over a new leaf.

So, in her daily foray of town, she had ended up in a store. A store with a large amount of people and things she never saw before.

“What kind of store is this?” she asked one of the patrons there in awe, since she hadn’t known of magic in her life.

Kate Bishop & Klara

Magic wasn't new to Kate. She was no stranger to it and the things that it could do. While she, herself, could not do magic, Billy did enough for all of them put together. Sometimes it was good and sometimes it was a headache and a half.

The folks who had put this together and were running it certainly seemed to know what they were doing.

Kate had been promising Klara a day out for a while and she was finally able to make good on it. Holidays and vampire times had put a damper on that, but everything had cleared up. It was time to enjoy some more peace and quiet.

"Klara! Check this out." She beamed and held up an antique-looking perfume bottle. Kate wasn't sure if there was anything inside. Maybe it was a special vial to hold potions or something.

Klara had almost been pouting at Kate. She adored the woman and they hadn't gotten time to spend together here. Of all the people who could know her, Kate DID. And it was a connection to home she liked.

So when she'd finally had time, Klara jumped on the chance to go with her to the shops openings. She had wandered off then looked as Kate called to her. She made her way over.

"Ooooh that reminds me of home home. Things were so pretty then." She leaned on Kate a little before putting up a different one. "I bet they hold potions. They're beautiful."
