The fair has come to town! To those of you who have attended a rural county fair, this is pretty much your standard fare. To those of you who haven't, there will be rides, food, games where you can win huge stuffed animal prizes, and also...4 H stuff. Like...cow shows and rabbit shows and horses and talent shows and quilt competitions and...really, name it and it's probably there.

Going to school in Montana meant that Rose was no stranger to the concept of county fairs. They weren't really her favorite thing, but after being trapped in the middle of nowhere Indiana for so long, she knew to make the most of anything that was different while it lasted. She did spend a little time looking at all the animal exhibits, remembering how fascinating she found animal biology during her time at St. Vlad's, but she cut it short when the animals were so obviously agitated by her presence. If she wasn't a dhampir, she might have actually considered becoming a vet or something.

Food was a natural draw for someone with a superhuman appetite and she was lingering near the various stalls, trying to decide what she wanted first, when someone nearly bumped into her and she realized she was kind of in the middle of the walkway. "Sorry," she said immediately. "I can't decide what I want, but i should really get out of the way."

The fair wasn't something she'd been to in the longest time, probably since before she'd hit double digits , but it seemed like a good way to pass the time and maybe make a few new friends in this place. Madison Valley was something of an adjustment for her, but it was relaxing, too. The fair was just a nice way to remind herself of the good times she'd had as a kid. A big city was what she loved, but small towns had their charms.

Food was always a good place to start and she was thankful for Extremis so that she could get away with sneaking a funnel cake, fried oreos, ice cream and cotton candy. She wasn't watching where she was going though, and nearly bumped into someone who was near the food. "No, it was my fault," Pepper replied with a friendly smile. "I'm going for the funnel cake. What I can't decide is if I want extra powdered sugar with chocolate syrup or the apple compote. Any suggestions?"

When Piper heard the fair had returned to town, she got to baking. Like last year, she decided to set up a booth to sell some cookies and brownies, the proceeds once again going toward the soup kitchen. Keeping the Musain soup kitchen going for those less fortunate was something she took great pride in. Any help she could get for it she was going to take.

Unfortunately, she didn't get to bake as much as she usually did do to feeling fatigue and morning sickness. There was still quite a bit, but she was pretty sure it wouldn't last the entire day. She was really just grateful being in the presence of spinning and fast rides wasn't making her dizzy. Yet.

She felt a little bad having this news and not sharing it. She wasn't sure how much longer that would last. For now, she just had to get through this day.

Angie had been at the fair all three days, helping Piper at the booth half the time and walking around the other half of the time. At that time, she was set to work at the booth but walked away to get them both something to drink and eat because it was about lunch time. "Here you are" She spoke as she approached the booth again, handing Piper the food and drink that she'd asked her to get.

Maggie had heard about the fair. She had gone to the fair back home a couple of times. She almost didn't want to go to the Madison Valley fair because it would remind her of the world before the dead took over. But damn near everything reminded her of that, so that wasn't really a valid argument.

In the end, she decided to go. She thought about calling James to see if he wanted to go with her, but she hadn't seen him since he'd come to the farm for Labor Day, and she felt a little awkward about reaching out to him. So she opted to go alone, figuring she would walk around and maybe enjoy a candied apple or a funnel cake.

She had little interest in riding the rides or playing the games, but she found she actually enjoyed the change of pace as she walked around.

Carnivals, fairs and festivals were things that Abby sometimes enjoyed and sometimes avoided back home. It all really depended on what she was working on at the time or what was happening in her life. They could be fun or they could be the potential breeding ground for nightmares.

When she spotted another woman coming toward her, she gave a friendly smile and gestured around them. "I'm not sure that I've ever seen one that's been as big as this one is."

Opening small talk? Not always one of Abby's strengths.

Kira was so excited about the fair. It reminded her of her time growing up in New York and going to Coney Island. Okay, so maybe it wasn't quite the same, but she was feeling nostalgic as she wandered the fairgrounds. She was just glad to go after missing out last time due to helping the weres during the full moon.

She wanted to go on all the rides and eat all the fair junkfood she could find. She just wasn't sure where to begin.

Kili wasn't sure how to describe this festival he was currently exploring. It was much more massive than any festival he had seen in Middle Earth and there were so many things here that he couldn't identify. There were rides that went fast or went high and there was so much food.

Food that he had never heard of before -- even during the time at Rivendell when the elves tried feeding them some of their types of food.

He was craning his neck and trying to see everything when he accidentally walked into someone.

It was the last day of the fair and Liz was happy she found finally check it out. She had class and worked on Friday then she wasn't feeling up to it on Saturday after a long class. Who's idea was it have a class on a Saturday? After a peaceful night's sleep, she got up early and made breakfast for everyone then she and Shawn headed out. "Let's see if you can win Riley one of those big bears. I bet she'd love that" She suggested to him as they approached the game part of the mid way. "Maybe if you get stuck I'll help you out alittle" She told him with a big of a grin and a hip bump.

Things seemed to be going okay so far with Liz living at the house with him and the girls and Shawn was grateful for that. He knew he wasn't equipped to deal with all the issues that teenage girls dealt with, especially ones involving boys, and he was hoping that Riley and Maya would both feel comfortable enough to talk to Liz about those kind of things now that Topanga was gone. "Actually, she really likes purple cats," he said, spying one offered as a prize at the game where you had to knock over milk bottles with a softball. "So maybe I'll try that one."

Jane was very excited for the fair, but more so because she and Zee had finally settled on a good spell to try that would let her have a good time with Ty. Who was maybe sort of her boyfriend? It seemed silly to call it that, but she did like the idea of them dating. They just needed to find a way around the cold thing, which wasn't even remotely a problem in her mind. The spell Zee tried raised her body temperature just a couple of degrees higher so it was like having a fever without all the gross stuff that came with it.

"Okay so, how do you feel about rides? And games? I think we have to hit a little of everything if we really want to have the typical fair experience," Jane asked as they entered the fair grounds. She slipped her hand in his as they did so, in part to see if they were on the right track with the spell. Jane knew she was grinning a little like a crazy person, but she couldn't help it. If they found a way around the cold thing, she would be happy. Just in case, she had a pair of gloves in her back pocket.

Ty would probably shy away from the title of boyfriend. It was fine, he liked it, he liked Jane, but Dawn was his girlfriend. The girlfriend he'd nearly killed. Putting that behind him was complicated.

He even let her hold his hand, for a few moments. A few moments were okay, but he wouldn't let her put herself at risk when it could be avoided. By something as simple as not holding his hand. For a moment, though. A moment wasn't any worse than holding a tub of ice cream or something.

"I think we should," he agreed. "What would you like to hit up first?"

The moment was up. Ty carefully extracted his hand from hers. He was probably being over-cautious, but he'd already hurt one person he cared about. He wasn't going to do it again.

Lucas had been excited by the fair and he'd been just as excited to take Riley on their first real, official date. He'd asked and everything, fumbling over his words worse than ever. She'd said yes though, so that counted as a win, and he finally settled on the right shirt (with Cam's help) before they picked her up. Just because they were arriving with Cam and Melinda didn't mean they had to stay with them, but Lucas probably wouldn't have minded all that much. He liked them.

"Okay, so what do you want to do first?" he asked, taking her hand in his with a shy smile. Lucas had saved up some money to take Riley on a date anyway, so it just happened to work out nicely that the fair came because he hadn't been sure about what to do before that. "I was thinking maybe the ferris wheel once the sun starts to set?"

There was no offer Lucas could make that Riley wouldn't have said yes to. She wanted to spend time with him. Having Lucas, and being his girlfriend, was the best thing that had happened to her in this place.

That might be a low standard, and a lot of bad had happened with her parents disappearing and Carl disappearing and feeling so alone. Lucas made things better, and Riley was ecstatic to explore a fair, on a date with her boyfriend.

Glancing down as his hand took hers, her own smile just as shy and goofy as his, she brushed her hair back with her other hand. "Um. Yeah. We can do that. Let's try some other rides first? Until it's later?"

Last year about this time, when this thing had shown up, Cameron and Melinda had been refusing to admit they were interested in each other, had come to this thing as just friends. Definitely not on a date.

He'd been determined to make that different this time. While he had the chance. Who knew when or if another fair would show up.

So he'd invited her, indulged the kids by bringing them along and setting them free to do their own thing, and wound up strolling down the midway with his own girlfriend at his side. He wasn't big on fair rides these days, maybe the quiet ones, the ferris wheel or something like it, but food and midway games were still a lot of fun.

"So you want to grab a good old fashioned candy apple or something? Cotton candy?" Melinda wasn't really into sweets as far as he knew her, but this could be an exception to the rule.

Melinda wasn't usually the type who would be at a country fair, at least not on her own. She didn't mind when Cameron invited her to go, and she especially didn't mind that it was more a date than it had been last year. It wasn't that terrible of a way to spend a night off.

"I haven't had cotton candy probably since I was a kid." So a really long time ago. "I can probably handle funnel cake."

Alex had already been to the fair last night, and she knew Kara had been there with Bucky. Today was going to be for sister time, though. It was nice that could go to the fair and be sisters having fun and feeling nostalgic for when they were kids. They didn't have to worry about anyone trying to destory the world or take over or any of things they worried about back home. They didn't need to be DEO agents here.

"We have to go on the scariest ride here," she informed her sister. "Still wouldn't be as exhilerating as flying with you, though."

Her tone was very lighthearted as she said that.

Lydia wasn't actually completely sure that she could handle this. The noise and the...busyness of a county fair, a county fair was bad enough, might be too much. But she'd been cooped up too long. Her physical injury had healed as much as it was going to, the patch of hair even starting to grow back, though no one would know it was gone at all by looking. She needed to get back out into doing things and having fun and meeting people.

This might be a bit much all at once, she probably should have started smaller, but Lydia was stubborn. She was going to do her best.

She made her boyfriend start small, insisting he ride the ferris wheel with her first. As soon as they got going, she shifted in her seat to lean against his shoulder with a smile. "Coming here was a good idea."

Even though Clarke usually reserved her Sundays for her lunches with Erik since they often stretched into the evening, she couldn't resist the invitation to spend a few hours at the fair with Raven this evening and had cut their visit short so she could go and meet her friend.

"So, what should we do first?" she asked, a little overwhelmed by the sights, sounds, and smells of the fairgrounds.

Maria wasn't the fair type, but she'd been in town long enough to want a taste of something different. But damn it, she wasn't going alone. Peter got talked into going with her. Granted the convincing had been in the form of some extra antics after the Hoosiers' football game Saturday night, but whatever worked.

Once they got there the smells of the goodies drew her to various booths. Funnel cake. Stale pizza. Soft pretzels then finally pink cotton candy. She'd just stuffed a piece of the sugar fluff into her mouth when she spotted a game booth across the way. Peter got nudged in that direction.

"That," she said as she pointed with a sticky finger. "Win me one of those." The pointing got turned to him. "And no cheating."

So much changed in the year since Wanda and John were at the fair together last time it was in town. Back then, they were newly dating and still figuring out the relationship thing. Or at least she was. Now they were married. It was kind of amazing when she really thought about it.

Of course, Wanda knew that John wasn't going to want to miss the opportunity to ride the Ferris Wheel and she was looking forward to sharing that with him again. "Do you want to save the Ferris Wheel for last?" she asked. "Or start there? Or both?"

So Jesse had gotten himself into some sort of cotton-candy-eating competition. With a werewolf. He had no idea how he had managed to get himself into this sort of situation, but there he was. At the fair, meeting a female werewolf. About to gorge himself on cotton candy. He wasn't sure he would actually manage beating said person in the too sweet competition, but he sure as hell was going to try.

He had arrived at the fair not too long ago, and was wandering aimlessly around the cotton candy vendor. He was trying to decide if any of the various colors of spun sugar had any less sugar than the rest, that might be key. But he then decided that no, that would be silly.

He sighed softly, and glanced around him, unsure of when this sugar fiend was going to show herself.

Athelstan was having a blast at the fair, something he found similar to when it last appeared in town. Now that Angie's pregnancy sickness was becoming more settled down to lessening, he saw no reason to indulge her in whatever she wished to eat.

For himself, he was determined to try and and all of the games that required skill to win. He wasn't sure about the rides, didn't see what was exciting about them, but the games-even if they were rigged, that just made them more fun to try.

At the prospect of cotton candy, popcorn, and a slew of other junk food in the same vicinity, Melissa accepted Tea's invitation with the intent to eat her way into a potential sugar and salt comma. Her dating life or rather, lack of a dating life remained the perfect excuse to abuse some magic and garner some free food in the process. Melissa also expected to pick off some beer and anything else of the alcoholic variety that the fair offered. This was Melissa's first time at the fair and after pulling as much of these things as she planned, she doubted she would be invited back. That only came down to if she was caught though and Melissa had enough practice to make her pretty confident she would get away with it. It wasn't like Tea would turn her in and Xander? Well, she would just have to plan carefully.

With a moment alone, she made the rounds, gathering herself a delightful picking before finding a seat at an empty picnic table. Settling in, Melissa tore open the bag of cotton candy and popped a few pieces of the sticky, light concoction into her mouth. Sweet, sugary goodness erupted within the recesses of her mouth and Melissa smiled to herself. Reaching out, she picked up her glass of beer and took a large sip. In response, the brunette made a face, but she didn't expect it to be a good combination from the start. Alcoholic numbness was always worth it even if cotton candy was a bad mixer.
