Just in case it needs to be said, this is a terrific season for inspiration - Fall, Spring (in the Southern Hemisphere), Halloween, Samhain, Harvest, Day of the Dead/All Saints Day, Columbus Day, etc.

If you want to take on a Fall challenge for the community, feel free to post drabbles, recs, stories, art, icons, wallpapers, etc. any time this month and into next month. Did I mention recs?

You're always welcome to request prompts or ideas from the community.

You're also welcome to point out places where people can participate with Lupin/Snape content.

Two prompts, two different genres...one spooky day!

This year, October's challenge is Spooky Snupin!

Q. There are so many cool prompts! How many may I claim?

A. As many as you think you can handle! Commenting to claim a prompt is optional for this challenge, but you may comment to claim if you want to give people a sneak peek.


Q. What if I want the same prompt that someone else wants?

A. No problem! All prompts may be claimed by more than one person and may be used for either a story or art. This is NOT a first come, first served challenge.


Q. Is there a minimum word count?

A. 100 words.


Q. Is there a maximum word count?

A. Nope! If you want to write a novella/novel-length piece, go for it!


Q. What about art?

A. Art can be a sketch, a doodle, a comic, a full color piece - whatever you have time for!


Q. When may I post my story/art?

A. Any time between October 1 and October 31. The challenge will be over at the end of October, so you need to get your spooky contributions in no later than Halloween! If you claim a prompt in September and get it written/drawn right away, please do wait until October 1 to post it.


The prompts are for inspirational purposes, not written/drawn for anyone in particular, so the identity of the prompters will not be revealed. Feel free to take the prompts in any direction you choose!

I have to open with a resounding cheer for the return of the snupin_prophet! If you're new to the pairing, you should subscribe to and support the Prophet with links because it is an invaluable round-up of our pairing on a twice-monthly basis. Prompts are still needed for the Spooky Snupin challenge in October. Comments are screened, but I can tell you that we definitely need lots more prompts to give participants a wide range of choices. We're doing something a little different this October: a Spooky Snupin challenge! I'll post all the details later in the month; right now, we just need prompts.

For this challenge, the theme is "spooky", so anything you can think of that's spooky can be used as a prompt! You may leave as many prompts as you like! They don't have to be designated for stories or art.

Examples of prompts you can offer include...

- titles of horror movies/books/tv shows ("horror" is used loosely here and can include anything from Goosebumps to sci-fi)

- quotes from horror movies/books/tv shows

- Cross-overs with horror movies/books/tv shows. Ex: "Remus and Severus are the victims of a magical portal spell gone wrong and find themselves on board the Nostromo."

- AU/AR set in a horror movie/book/tv show world. Ex: "Non-magical AU. Remus is one of Buffy's Scoobies; Severus is a newly turned vampire. What happens when they meet in a graveyard one dark night?"

- any general horror plot or cliche. Ex: "Zombie invasion on Hogwarts!"

- anything related to Halloween, such as costumes, folklore, urban legends, traditions, etc.

- spooky settings

- any specific horror/spooky/Halloween bunnies you'd like to share.


This is going to be a inspiration-based challenge, not a challenge about fulfilling a request like the Fantasy Fest, so your prompts don't need to be lengthy, detailed, or specific. If you want to contribute a prompt as short as "Autumn leaves", that's fine! If you want to give more detailed info, that's fine too! Just remember that the author/artist won't be writing/drawing specifically for you and might take it in a different direction than you had in mind.

Comments will be screened, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask! I'll unscreen any comments with questions so others can see the answer if they have questions too.

New prompts will be accepted through September 25.
