Mostly it was because dealing with Susan Bones any amount of time outside of class made Sirius want to swear and hex things, but he'd been hesitant to claim any of her detentions since doling it out for the remainder of the year to her. However, in spite of his recent conversation with James -- the one where James pretty much admitted to not denying that he was the stag in the Shrieking Shack when they'd caught Ginny and Susan out of bounds -- and since Susan had been more antagonistic toward him than usually, he thought maybe it was time to have a little chat with her.
He had no idea what he was going to make her do. Some lines, maybe. Obviously they wouldn't sink in like Umbridge's lines, but Sirius really didn't have the desire (or the stomach) to borrow Dolores's quill. He'd just make Susan write things she would hate to write. And maybe, if he was lucky, they wouldn't do much talking. He could just glower and of course that meant she'd think he was making veiled threats at her and her poor mother. Besides the actual, 'I will kill you' thread (which Sirius didn't entirely mean, though he'd been terrified enough at the idea that someone would blab about James leaving his hiding place for the night), he didn't actually threaten her for the reasons she thought he was threatening her. Whereas she so obviously thought he was threatening her on Voldemort's orders, it was that he needed to make sure they don't lose steam right now.
Sirius waited in his office, sitting at his desk sans robes, watching the Marauder's Map and, in particular, the little Susan Bones footprints walking, and hesitating, up to his classroom. He smiled.
