He rolled his eyes and didn't care if she noticed or not. This is why he hated claiming detentions with students. They were always so awkward and uncomfortable. He met her gaze. "Filch was caretaker when I was in school. He was a Squib and was removed from his position when Lord Voldemort came into power." She hadn't asked for an explanation, but he gave it to her anyway.
"No, the accusation doesn't make it a lie, but the fact that I know it to be a lie is." He didn't really see her purpose in lying about it, unless she was covering for Ginny, and in that case, he had to respect her a little bit more because of it. The number of times he lied -- and was still lying -- to protect his friends knew no bounds.
"What do you think of the map though, hmn?" he asked. He really should stop talking and let her do her lines so she could get out of his sight, but he didn't want to. He had no idea why not. "Clever bit of magic, isn't it?" Egotistic that he was, of course.
