Be careful of the curse that falls on young lovers
Who: Lux and Troy
Where: Troy's apartment over the dojo
When: early evening, a few hours before moon-rise
The night of the full moon meant a great many things for the little community of Scarlet Oak, but for the life of him, Troy could not be bothered to focus on the big picture. No, tonight was all about setting things up for Lux at his apartment. They'd talked about it and once Troy had offered to store her new cage at his place, that had been that. There were very few instances where the earth elemental would not feel as though he needed to help his best friend in any way he could and tonight was no exception. Instead of having the great metal thing looming in his living room the entire night, Troy had placed it out in his storage shed by his garden until such time as they would have true need of it. He didn't see the sense in having the elephant in the room there when Lux was nervous enough about the moon -- and having Troy see her that way. He could understand completely her anxiety over the event, but it did nothing to change the way he felt about her. He loved her, and that was that.
As much as he wanted the evening to be as stress-free as possible, it stood to wonder that the dinner they shared was strained, to say the least. Troy did his best to put Lux at ease, but he could tell that she was restless. After first working up the courage to tell him what she was at all, and then agreeing to let Troy play host and look after her for the moon? Oh yeah, he could understand her being nervous and he would never begrudge her how she felt. Once dinner was eaten and cleaned up, Troy finally did the thing that he had not been looking forward to -- he brought Lux's cage up from the shed. He'd found a blanket to throw over it, so it wasn't just staring them both in the face, but it was still there, taking up a huge corner of Troy's living room. As soon as he'd brought it up, Moriko had left, muttering something about hunting and sleeping in her den for the night. Troy couldn't blame his familiar for leaving, either. It was tense enough without adding another persona to the mix.
Even after he'd thrown the blanket over the cage, Troy could tell that Lux needed a distraction. It was some time before the moon rose, and it would do them both some good to not focus on it. Troy still had little in the way of expectations, so he was just doing his best to be positive and supportive. From his place in the living room, Troy moved over to where Lux was seated on the couch. Taking a seat next to her, he wrapped his arm around her, leaning in to kiss her temple. "It's going to be fine, Lux. Trust me," he murmured. Before she could protest though, Troy gently disentangled himself enough so that he could rub her shoulders. "You're safe with me," he said, the fingers of his hands kneading into the muscles of her shoulders and back. It seemed like even at rest, her muscles were pulled taught with tension, like she was ready to bolt at any minute. Even if giving her a massage wasn't going to alleviate all of her stress, it might at least help, and Troy would be happy with that.
