I just had to reach you
Who: Circe and Antonin
When: Aftermath of the explosions
Where: Bridge remnants
The protest had not been a noteworthy event as far as Circe was concerned. There were a variety of reasons she already knew she wouldn't be attending from the first moment she'd heard about it. First, her race was a complete secret known only by a specific few and she'd really recognized the perils of being an "out" lamia in the Zach Temple case. Oh, she was certain he was a lamia and she was certain he'd been murdered by one of these so-called hunters. She was surprised he hadn't been skinned. Oh, no, Circe was more careful now than she'd been at university. She had stuff to lose. Second, it was a work day...and third, she was far more preoccupied about Ulysses' visit than anything else at the moment. After he'd left her - unharmed, for that matter - she'd collapsed on her floor in a weak pile. It had been all sorts of embarrassing and traumatizing. She hadn't even told Antonin yet. Speaking of Antonin...
The entire hospital practically exploded simultaneously. From a relatively quiet morning, there were suddenly sirens and screaming and people running up and down the hallways wheeling things...and people. It had only taken her a second to find out from one of the orderlies that there had been explosions at the site of the protest. While she had been originally unfazed, the hospital announcement of "all hands on deck" made her realize what other professionals would have received that order. The surgical interns, naturally, were being shipped out to take care of patients on site and a doctor with only labwork experience was not going to be sent out into the field. Circe, however, had an ace up her sleeve. A quick conversation with her supervisor about ensuring that no lamia patients who were potentially involved in the protest were ever discovered or brought back to the hospital to be placed under a metaphorical microscope led to Circe being placed in the next group of doctors sent out in ambulances to the explosion site. While she got a few strange looks, a quick glare dismissed most of them. Besides, she could suture and dole out first aid like any of the others present. Besides, if Antonin was hurt, she'd find him. And if he wasn't...well, she'd still find him.
