Dug my way out of blood and fire
Who: Elizaveta, Liliya and Lux
Where: Near the Broadway Bridge
When: Sometime after the explosion
There was a loud noise, a sharp and tearing pain and then everything... it slipped out of her grasp. Or she slipped out of it, she would never be able to differentiate between the two.
"You'll be wonderful."
"You're beautiful."
"DAVID!" No, no everything hurt and the light was too bright, she did not want any part of that...
"I can't believe that you don't even care!"
"It won't hurt all that much, it'll be like you're falling asleep."
"DAVID WHERE ARE YOU?!" Whoever David was, he needed to answer already so that woman shut the hell up, her voice was far too jarring.
"That is the most wonderful dress that I've ever seen."
"One of these days you're going to regret this and there won't be a single thing that you can do to-"
The voices faded away from inside of her mind, replaced by all sorts of noises around her. Sirens. Cars. Voices shouting. People crying... and the scent of blood. Oh the scent of blood was everywhere and it sent a pang of hunger racing right to the pit of her stomach. Liliya felt as though she had not eaten in over a day even though she remembered that she had eaten that morning. It had been that morning, had it not? Yes, it had to have been, just that morning she had gotten up and downed a fair bit of fae blood so that she could be ready for - the march. It was all coming back to her; slowly at first, but then it was a rush of information. Everything had been going just fine. She had been talking with Elizaveta about something and then the world... the world had exploded in sound and light and pain... the pain was duller now, but it was still there and when Liliya tried to look down to the main source she could not manage. Her body was simply refusing to do what she told it to and there was something wrong with her leg. The pain stopped above her knee and below it there was just nothing. But some of the blood that she could smell was too familiar and once her arm remember how to work she lifted it up to touch her forehead, the fingers coming away slicked with blood. Her blood. There was a gash opened on her forehead and it was slow in closing thanks to all the blood she was losing. Far too much of it. Her body had not felt this way since... it had been since she died.
Pressing her palms flat against the ground, ignoring the sharp bites of pain that came from bits of metal and broken stone scattered about, Liliya forced her body up. A decision she instantly regretted when she looked down at herself. Her body looked almost fine until you went below the waist. Her right leg was... a mess, that was the best word that she had for it, and it was a good word when you compared it to the left. Liliya could not compare it to the left, though, because it was not there. There was a twisted tear of jagged black and red flesh, a shattered edge of a bone and it was not healing as fast as it should because that was somehow a burn. An explosion. Liliya's body was shaking. "Elizaveta?" Her voice was weaker than it should have been, almost quiet, and she tried to clear her throat to make it louder. "Elizaveta!" Was that her just over there? She tried to look closer, but her eyes kept going back to her leg. Did she need a tourniquet? How did that work? Maureen had never told her what happened if her leg came off. It was still bleeding... she could smell it even over the scent of charred flesh.
Had Maureen been with her? Had anyone other than Elizaveta been there? Something told her 'yes' there had been others, but her mind was latched onto the last face that she had seen and it was playing over in a blurry loop. Liliya's arms shook and she fell back onto the ground, finding it hard to care about that. I have to be dreaming. This is a dream - no, it's the worst nightmare that I've ever had. Had to be. Things like this did not just happen. Someone was crying nearby, another person was screaming and there was a blonde... Liliya's eyes fluttered closed as her stomach gave another sharp ache, echoed by her body. She needed blood. Not if I wake up first. Wait, Via. Via had been there with them, a few steps behind. Liliya's eyes opened again and she glanced back as best she could "Via?!"
