Pit Stop

Still a bit upset at the ambush she'd received on Derrick's show, Dani left Shangri-La's communications offices with two hours to kill before the next scheduled transport back to Avalon.

The long walk earlier from the hanger deck of the massive ship to the communications office had taken more out of her than she wanted to admit, so the last thing the young woman wanted to do was walk around and sightsee on the luxury liner. Even if she'd had the energy and inclination, she'd just be gawked at by strangers surprised to see someone in her condition wearing the uniform of a Colonial Fleet officer.

With those thoughts in mind it was an easy call to wind up at one of the many bars on the ship, one with a view of the central environmental dome and the gardens it contained. It would help pass the time and let her rest until she had to make the trip back to the hanger deck. She might even get something to eat while she was there.

Just another day

Anika threw her jacket down on the now empty passenger seat at the back of the cabin before jumping down to the hangar deck. His smirk quickly dissolved into a blank stare as Anika walked away stiffly, not even a snarky quip forthcoming. Normally they would shoot the breeze for a good few minutes, the flirting always fun and making a highlight of his day. But today it was like a small dark cloud had gathered over the young female pilot's head and as the young man hadn't seen a real cloud or any weather really for over three years it was a pretty strange atmosphere.

She didn't stop, her steady stride taking her swiftly up to Bethany's suite only to find her sister not there. )

On Shangri-la

Anika left to do the run to the other ships and Bethany finished up the paperwork she'd been doing then made a few calls to some of the staff who'd called in to say they couldn't do their shifts. Running the bars and restaurants that were always open was probably the most challenging of all her roles, as the concept of day and night was so varied amongst the guests. Over the eight years Shangri-la had been operating it had always provided full facilities any time of any guests' night or day.

And to keep the staff happy and willing she made sure she gave them the time off they needed,... )
