So. About them errands, huh?
((Man. How about all that self-play. It's what I get for playing 90% of the characters, I guess. :p And also currently the only character who can fling himself around the kingdom in seconds, so the job of errand boy has fallen to him. Purah's really got to come up with something for Zelda.))

After contacting Zelda and ending up with a laundry list of things he needed to get, as well as a brief panic when she asked about the sign outside his house, of all things, Link shifted his focus to his new agenda: getting a bunch of girly stuff.

His life went awry somewhere along the line, and he wasn't quite sure where. As much as he missed his sister, part of him was glad his early teen years weren't plagued by a teenage girl potentially trying to cajole him into being her practice dummy for learning how to apply makeup and do fancy hair styles. There was a good chance Marin would've ended up more like their grandmother than their mother on that front, but even so, that was an arrow he'd dodged.

It wasn't even getting dressed up like a woman that would've bothered him- when he was growing up, women were the ones with the power, it wasn't exactly an insult to look like one, and he had to do that later to get into Gerudo Town anyway -it was the idea of being turned into what amounted to a science experiment that would've annoyed him. Being told to sit and stay and be subjected to whatever his handlers wanted to do would've driven him crazy.

That, and he remembered being an adolescent boy, and he knew how adolescent girls acted, and he and his sister probably would've driven each other up the wall and down each other's throats.

... he still missed her, though.

He forcibly shoved that subject aside and focused back on the task at hand, most of which was just taking pictures, but the first thing he had to do was something that he wasn't ... exactly looking forward to. For a myriad of reasons, not the least of which was 'fessing up to having not told the entire truth to Zumi and Yammo earlier about his relationship status with Zelda. Although before he could do that, he had to 'fess up to himself about it. His side of things wasn't anything he'd been... too untruthful about- there was nothing that he'd given any thought to (and fighting his brain to keep it that way was sometimes a challenge) -but he knew damn well what Zelda's side was. Sure, there honestly was the chance that the years had changed her, but he had a feeling in his gut that they hadn't. He'd probably hide behind that possibility for awhile yet, but it was something he was going to have to face at some point.

Sometimes he wished he'd worked harder at not avoiding dealing with emotions after his initial grief over Marin had passed. It'd make things a lot easier on him. His tendency to shut down had helped him save face when the kingdom's spotlight was on him, but now it was just making things messy.

Oh, hey, brain. Nice of you to drift back to that subject. Let's stay on task, hmm?

The women had made pretty good time, all things considered, as Link could see them just on the other side of Proxim Bridge as he approached it. He nodded in greeting to Brigo, who still was holding his position as guard, though what he was guarding and why, Link wasn't sure. Whatever made him happy and gave him purpose, Link supposed.

Bozai's brain completely exploded into a spray of sparks, staring at her with wide eyes and a face that felt entirely too warm to look as calm and cool as he wanted to come across. He didn't want to come across like an overeager virgin (even though that's what he was), but he didn't want to come across like someone who would just use her and move on to the next lady that came down the road. How did he balance that?!

His mouth moved in an attempt to form words, though what words he was trying to make, he wasn't sure, and his voice wasn't cooperating anyway, so he took in a deep breath and cleared his throat, buying himself a moment to make his head- the correct one -think in words, and not things that would be too inappropriate to say.

Yet.

"Well! A beautiful lady who shares the same love of legend and lore as I would be easily able to convince me to hand them over if she drew another picture for me- a very specific picture." Then he adjusted his glasses, taking the schmooze down a notch for a moment. "The picture you showed me of the Eighth Heroine was missing her sword. All the other heroines are holding theirs. Hers must be up there somewhere too."

Back to the schmooze. "If a beautiful woman could draw me another amazing picture of the missing sword, I'd happily take the snow boots off for her and hand them over."

Boots and other things, but one thing at a time. Woo first, reward after.

There was another urge to recoil. Link heard that thought, and he wanted to retch.

He made another throaty hum of consideration. "You sure do like putting a girl through the gauntlet," he said. "Lucky for us both that I enjoy a little thrill of adventure now and again. You got yourself a deal, Mister Boots. You'll get your picture, and I'll get my reward."

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew.

Re- re- reward.

Bozai had to keep the right head on his shoulders and not floating somewhere above the desert while the other one decided to have a mind of its own.

Ahem. Ahem ahem ahem.

"I'll have it right here waiting, my lamb," he said, somewhere between a love sonnet-worthy sing-song and a low and 'promising' purr. He wasn't sure which was better, so he tried for both.

AAAAAAAAAAUGH GODDESS WHY IS HE DOING THIS.

He couldn't help the way his upper lip curled up in revulsion, very glad that the veil covered the entire lower part of his face. He needed to give this guy a name, if only so he never called him 'his lamb' ever again.

The first woman's name he thought of was an instant no-go- not in any way, shape, or form, ever, would he give this creep his sister's name. Marin would have the same idea of how to handle this guy that Zelda did, that Link wanted to, and would never be bothering to play this routine, for one. For another, this guy didn't deserve to ever even hear Marin's name, much less say it. Especially with that tone. That'd just guarantee that Link would lose his shit and beat the guy bloody.

His brain latched onto a vaguely connected one, and after a second's thought, decided that it worked for this better than he could've hoped. "Actually, it's Candace," he said, saying the name with what he hoped was a snap that a guy who clearly wanted to be lead around by a leash tied to his dick would find as properly arousing from a woman willing to hold said leash.

He would bet all the rupees in the world that this guy had no idea who Queen Zelda Isabella Candace of Hylia was, or that she was known as the One-Eyed Wolf Queen for a reason, and not one this guy would like. Link had forgotten a lot of the history he'd read growing up, but the story of the One-Eyed Wolf Queen was one of Marin's favorites. And it had surfaced in his memory at just the right time.

Candace. Candace. What a beautiful, delicious, perfect name for this vision of glory that knelt before him.

"Candace," he said, giving the name all the love and silk it deserved. "It's a pleasure. The name's Bozai. Not nearly as amazing a name as your own, but then, none are, are they?"

Bozai. More like bozo, if you asked Link. But at least Link had a name to think instead of 'Mister Creepy.' If he used the name 'Mister Creepy' too much, he chanced saying it without realizing it. Yes, having a name was good. A stupid name, but a name.

"That's what I've been told," Link said with a wink that he immediately hated himself for, then stood. "Hate to leave you here already, Mister Bozai, but I'm afraid I have a little shopping to do, especially if I'm going to be taking such a long trip up the highlands again. Gotta get my Me Time in before I go look for this little sword of yours."

It was a struggle to keep himself at a walk into the town, stopping just inside the walls and allowing himself a full-body shudder of revulsion.

When one of the guards that stood at her post gave him an amused smile over her shoulder, he gave her a pained look that was only half as effective as it would've been without the veil.

"Was he treating other women like that before I came along?" he asked her in a hushed voice.

The guard looked over at Bozai, then turned a bit, just enough to speak to the little vai. "You make a noble sacrifice that no vai should have to, little one," she said. "It does not go unappreciated."

Link gave her a weak whimper that substituted for the equally weak smile she couldn't see. "As long as he leaves others alone," he said, turning to lean back against the wall and start dumping that sand out of his shoes.

The guard didn't answer beyond another sympathetic look, returning to focusing on her job.

Which left Link a second to mentally scrub off the worst of the ick and reorient his brain to the shopping list he had in front of him.

-Clothes for Zelda
-Make-up for Zelda
-Hair clips for Zelda
-Jewelry for Zelda

He desperately wished he could convince the bartender at the Noble Canteen that he was old enough for a hard drink. He'd happily add that to his shopping list.

Although the story of the One-Eyed Wolf Queen surfacing in his brain made him realize that while Zelda had said never mind on finding journals, if he was going to write down any of the history she wanted- and some of the old stories that had interested him growing up -he was going to need at least one of those himself. And it wasn't likely that Zelda would think to get any for him. So add that to the list. At least it was something for himself and not lots and lots of dress up accessories.

He wasn't sure where to find journals, or even any sort of books in Gerudo Town, but surely someone had to know.

Well, first things first. The woman that was selling clothing had her stall immediately to the left of the entrance into town, and Link made a beeline for it.

The vendor had a number of clothes for sale, though they were all fairly close in cut and style to the ones she had up on display dummies. Honestly, the outfit could be identical to his, for all it mattered, it was the fact that he had no idea what Zelda's size would be. He knew it'd be better safe than sorry to just guess big, since clothes could be taken in a size or two, but he had made a point of not noticing specifics about her measurements, and therefore had no idea how big was big enough to be too big.

This plan wasn't thought all the way through.

Saula had been a clothing vendor for many years, long enough that she could take one look at the little vai staring helplessly at the tops was probably looking for someone else, or had possibly never had to worry about her own sizing.

"If you're looking for yourself, little vai," she said, stepping over to her prospective customer, "then you are looking at the very wrong size. That top would be too tight on you."

Link froze, his hyper-awareness of being in a potentially hostile situation already making his brain scramble to come up with a believable reason why his size was so unusual for a woman. It probably wasn't necessary, but given how carefully he had to tread in that town, he didn't like taking chances.

"I'm actually looking for a friend," he said, trying to leech the nerves out of his voice. "I'm just not sure her size."

How the hell did he explain that he didn't know a thing about sizing a woman's top according to her bust size when he was actively pretending to be a woman, and was in a den full of lionesses who didn't like the men in their midst?

"It is a bit different sizing a top in the Gerudo style than in the styles I have seen other Hylian vai come in wearing," Saula said. "Most Hylian vai wear clothes that require a bra of some sort. Gerudo clothes aren't cut for one, so that does tend to throw you Hylian vai off a bit." She smiled. "Fortunately, I have sold to many Hylian vai, I know how to convert the sizes. What cup does your friend wear?"

WHY IS THIS A QUESTION HE IS BEING ASKED.

"I- I don't know," he confessed. "It's not something I've ever asked."

Saula frowned. "Odd, that's a conversation most vai have," she said. "Are you two not close enough for that yet?"

She was noticing that this vai didn't look like she knew much about cup size to begin with. To an unusual degree.

That was one way to put it.

Link could tell very well that he was being literally sized by this woman, and he felt like he was trying to walk around a sleeping lioness who kept moving her paw right under where he wanted to put his foot.

"I- I'm usually left out of those conversations," he said weakly, hoping that maybe he could play it up in a bit of reverse psychology.

A woman could be sensitive about that.

"With no unkindness intended, I don't suppose, no," Saula agreed. "I can't imagine it doesn't make you jealous."

She frowned again, trying to figure out why this vai had such a bizarre size. Her rib cage was bigger than it should be for a vai, and she had a very clear lack of any sort of breasts. But there was no way that was a voe, she was far too slender for that. Saula had sold clothes to both vai and voe, and never had she seen either gender in the size this vai had. Puzzling, and perhaps a bit intriguing to the fashion enthusiast in her.

Then she spotted what looked like some sort of injury along the vai's left side, just a bit peeking out under the top. It looked like it might belong to a very large and terrible scar.

Saula suddenly wondered if perhaps this vai had no obvious bust because an injury stole it from her.

She gave the vai a sympathetic smile. "Your friend is kind to not bring up a subject that looks like it might be a tender one." She nodded towards the vai's injury. "That injury looks like it must have hurt at one time. I'll not pry. But since it means that cup size isn't something you would likely know much about, we can try it another way. How would you say your friend's bust compares to mine? If not mine, then someone else's nearby?"

The woman hadn't even finished speaking before Link's hand slowly moved to cover the scar that he hadn't realized was that visible. The movement had been unconscious, something he'd done without even realizing it.

Had. Had he really just been given that easy of a way out of the mess he was in? He hadn't even thought of implying that 'Candace' didn't have breasts because of an injury. He might've if he'd realized that the top didn't go quite as low as all that. He mostly paid attention to making sure the hair wrap and face veil were on correctly when he fussed with that outfit.

Who was he to look that gift horse in the mouth? He'd deal with the screaming silence that usually accompanied putting too much thought into that scar later.

He made a show of collecting his thoughts, lowering his hand and switching his brain over to answering the question without feeling like a thirteen-year-old boy told to stare at a woman's tits.

"Why do women wear dresses with those big pads on their chest?"
"You little pervert!"

Oh for the love of the goddess, brain. Find a better time to grab random and completely out of context memories and wave them in front of his face, please. He'd feel sorry for his ancestor at another time.

"A little bigger, maybe?" he said, not sure if how uncertain he sounded was a good thing or not. "Her chest is more slender, but I think her bust is a little bigger than that."

Saula nodded, mentally picturing this woman. "It's normal for Hylian vai to have more slender builds than Gerudo," she told the vai, who sounded completely out of her comfort zone.

Saula could just imagine. Poor thing.

But, she wasn't going to let the focus keep on something that was obviously not a pleasant subject and started rummaging through the stack of Gerudo-stle tops that she'd made for Hylian vai.

"Then I would say this size would be best to go with," she said, pulling one from the bottom. "I suspect it might be a bit too big, with how uncertain you sound, but unless you are terribly off with your guess, it shouldn't be beyond so big that a little bit of tailoring couldn't cinch it in if need be."

She handed the top over, then moved to the stack of sleeves that paired with the tops. "Is she a fighter?" she asked.
