PROLOGUE |
You wake up one morning with a headache, you wonder if you're hung-over but you didn't drink anything last night so that can't be it and after taking a painkiller and heading to work you forget all about it. A few days later you think you back to your childhood and there's a memory that doesn't fit, it doesn't make sense and you try not to think about it because it sets you on edge and makes you feel uncomfortable. It doesn't stop. Maybe weeks go by, or maybe it's months, and someone turns up on your doorstep. Maybe they look official, or maybe they're wearing jeans and a T-Shirt, but they introduce themselves and tell you that they're from something called 'The Agency', they sit you down and if you're lucky they'll make you a cup of tea or pour you a drink before explaining it all to you. The memories are real, but they're someone else's, someone you always thought of as fictional. You're what they call a reincarnate, someone who's been reincarnated from this fictional person, brought into this world with magic that no one yet understands. They talk about a war that's being fought between two sides of reincarnates, the good and the bad. You're not told what side to pick or that you need to, but you know that a day will come when you and the person you used to be and are possibly becoming will need to choose. |
As children, we're expected not just to believe in fairy tales, but to embrace them. Boys can fly and live as children forever, girls can be rescued from their evil step-mothers and whisked away to castles in pumpkin coaches; the world is an endless stretch of possibility set against a backdrop of inherent freedom. It is only a fiction. The world eventually reveals itself to be an unkind place, the villains not easily defeated, no fairy godmother to come to the rescue. The loss of innocence is taken in stride by some, and those fortunate masses go on to become grown-ups, to live out their lives in some boring profession or another, to forget magic after passing it along to their own children. But what of those who grow older without growing up? What if Alice witnessed something so terrifying that she never wanted to leave Wonderland? What if Belle's beast was so cunning and so cruel that she could not bear to part from him, his murder of her father aside? For all of those who fell through the cracks, for the most unique and the least privileged, the untouchable and the uncared for, for the most heartbreaking and horrifying, there exists a refuge. The shelter? A deceptively quiet New England hospital; Cheshire Crossing. |
Don’t go to sleep. Don’t close your eyes. Keep them open. Open them as wide as you possibly can. Look around you. Take in your surroundings. What is this place? You may ask: Where have the trains and the skyscrapers gone? Or you may ask: Where is Cair Paravel? Where are the Lone Islands? What you will soon come to learn is that you have entered into Aslan’s Land. This is not Narnia at all, but a place resembling Narnia in every aspect. Every tiny detail, right down to the last grain of sand. But how can it not be Narnia? You see, whatever place you may have dreamed of is here. The land, the cities, the towns, the people. They are all Narnian, even if this place is not Narnia itself. In such a place, even skyscrapers may be brought back. You simply have to know where to look. But even in such a beautiful and peaceful place dangers and evils await. This land, Aslan’s Land, was meant for the good. It was meant for the peaceable. It was not meant for the evil or dangerous. It was not meant for those who seek corruption and vanity. But they still found their ways here. To remove them, to make them leave would be a difficult task. For even the most evil of persons may very well have been the person closest to you. Would you allow them to stay? Or would you help to rid the land of them? To return them to the place they truly belonged. Each is given his or her own choice. Choose it well. For that decision may very well decide your destiny. That decision may mean leaving this land. What happens to one after entering Aslan’s Land? How far must they go before finding their destiny? Or does destiny even exist in such a place? Do all who come there truly belong? Or have some found the backdoor into this wondrous land? What wonders, adventures, spectacles could possibly be waiting beyond that shore? Only those who have found their way truly know. These are the stories of such creatures. Of a place called Aslan’s Land. Deceptive Perception The land known as Inora consists of a set of islands that cradle more than just mortals in its loving embrace. They were said to have been created by vampires long ago. This gave them a place to live among the mortals who fed them while painting the earth red with blood. Eventually, other races were thrown into the fray and a century of war was fought for supremacy. Centuries passed between rulers and the times of war seemed to almost be forgotten. The treaty between the demons and vampires has always been upheld. The werewolves have always protected the treaty and, eventually, winds of change blew through the lands. Times evolved and an industrial revolution took hold. All was well with the lands. The latest in a long line of demonic kings has died and the vampires have come back into the throne. Even with this change, death and violence still run rampant through Inora's streets and it seems the Gunslingers are unable to stop it. GAME RESTARTED JUNE 22ND! |
