WHO: Drina and Belle
WHAT: Nommins
WHEN: Lunchtime
WHERE: Golf-2

Thanks to the offer on the site, Drina had invited Belle over for lunch. She supposed that making friends on this island wouldn't be a terrible thing; she still planned on leaving and escaping, but that wouldn't happen for quite some time, clearly. She had never thought of herself as being one of the "soccer moms" that were so popular in the States, but having lunch with a woman of a similar age didn't sign her away to specific archetype.

The table was set and Drina had prepared a fruit dish that was quite simply mango slices with Spanish pepper sprinkled across them. She smiled, thinking of how her mother would keep fresh fruits in their apartment. She had only been here for a full day, but she desperately wanted to speak to her mother. Not to mention Heath. She had no idea when he would return to their home.

The doorbell ringing brought Drina out of the kitchen, her hair in a single plait and her most comfortable pants around her hips. she arrived at the door with a bright smile on her face.

Belle was still a little rattled after last night. She'd come far too close to losing Cooper once this week. Having him come high tailing home with the biggest damned wolves she'd ever seen on his tail had been a bit much after finding him unconscious on the floor of their bar.

She needed to do something else for awhile. Lunch with the nice gal who'd offered everybody breakfast would be a good distraction. "Hey hon," she greeted, holding up a plate she'd brought with her. "I made some muffins to go with whatever you made for lunch." She smiled. "Belle Bennett, I don't think we got a chance for proper introductions yesterday."

"Drina Perez," For a brief moment she felt like she did when Heath would take her out for lunch with some of his partners. It felt odd to experience a hint of normalcy when she was who knew how far from home. "And muffins are great. I have a lot of fruits and vegetables in here." She motioned with a nod toward the kitchen. "Come on in! You can sit the muffins anywhere on the table."

Drina walked toward the refrigerator. "I'm glad you could come by. I've only talked to one other person while here. I mean, it's only been a day, but I still have no idea how many are here. Have you adjusted well?" Peering inside the refrigerator she found a pitcher of guava pineapple juice. "I have milk as well, and I think there is some soda in the bottom drawer here... Which would you prefer? I think it all goes with chicken."

She had prepared a rather simple meal of grilled chicken, but with the fresh vegetables, she had made her own pico de gallo to go along with it. She had also been surprised to find enough flour to make tortillas. Whoever had brought her here knew everything there was to know about her. She glanced at the photograph of her and Heath that was just in the hallway before returning her gaze to her guest.

Belle smiled as the gal introduced herself. "Nice to meetcha," she agreed. "Smells good." It really did. "Glad to have some company myself. The little gal who helped me make dinner was a sweetheart. Grace. Talked to one of the fellas on the computer thingy and I think he stopped by to have some dinner but I was in the kitchen. Then he and Cooper came back being chased by them big damned wolves late last night." She shook her head.

Had she adjusted? "As best as I can," she admitted. "Having Cooper here helps, even if the damned fool is trying his best to eaten by something. He oughta know better. He'd dealt with wild animals his whole life. He might as well be half one himself, as much as he spends in the wilderness."

And she was going on and on to a near stranger about this. Who probably didn't need to be hearing about her troubles when she clearly had plenty of her own. She took a deep breath. "Sorry darlin'," she apologized. "Been one of those days. I'm sure for you too. I get to ramblin', feel free to tell me to shut up if I get too bad. I won't take it personal."

Drina smiled a bit at Belle's accent; it reminded her of the way people spoke in Texas. "I noticed the tracks from the wolves, but I didn't actually see any. I spoke to a woman on the forum and she called them 'wargs' or something. But the tracks were all around my door and house. I think if you look, you can see where a couple scratched at it."

"Understandable. I'm sure that it'd be much easier having someone you love nearby." She didn't mean for it to sound cryptic, but she found suddenly, that she was slightly jealous of Belle and Cooper - the latter she had not met just yet. If Heath had been here with her, things would be much easier. At the very least, she would be able to sleep better at night if he was next to her.

"Oh, you're fine!" Drina beamed. "It helps to get your troubles off your chest." She pulled some silverware out of a nearby drawer before she motioned toward the table. "Have a seat. There's plenty of food, so you can dig right in."

Belle shuddered at the mention of the wolves. "They were huge," she admitted. "Biggest damned wolves I ever seen. And bold too. Wolves don't usually come near people."

Her sympathy immediately went to Drina. Poor gal, stuck here to endure God only knew what and in a family way, with her husband not here. "It helps," she agreed. "Can't be easy for you." She nodded at the picture. "He's a handsome fella too. What's his name?"

She set about digging in. "Well, that goes both ways, sugar," she agreed. "I'd be completely lost without my Cooper. You're a hella lot stronger than I am. So if you ever need a shoulder to cry or whatever, you just come find me."
