Belle smiled as the gal introduced herself. "Nice to meetcha," she agreed. "Smells good." It really did. "Glad to have some company myself. The little gal who helped me make dinner was a sweetheart. Grace. Talked to one of the fellas on the computer thingy and I think he stopped by to have some dinner but I was in the kitchen. Then he and Cooper came back being chased by them big damned wolves late last night." She shook her head.
Had she adjusted? "As best as I can," she admitted. "Having Cooper here helps, even if the damned fool is trying his best to eaten by something. He oughta know better. He'd dealt with wild animals his whole life. He might as well be half one himself, as much as he spends in the wilderness."
And she was going on and on to a near stranger about this. Who probably didn't need to be hearing about her troubles when she clearly had plenty of her own. She took a deep breath. "Sorry darlin'," she apologized. "Been one of those days. I'm sure for you too. I get to ramblin', feel free to tell me to shut up if I get too bad. I won't take it personal."
