[Rey + Luke]
I know you're not my real kids and I don't expect you to treat me like your mom or whatever, but I know this whole situation leaves you dependent on me doing shit for you. So I'll pack your lunches the night before and leave them in the refrigerator, because there's no way in hell that I'm waking up early enough to see you off to school. If you rather have lunch money or whatever, ask your dad. If you won't be home for dinner just give me a heads up so I don't waste my time cooking. You both seem old enough to do your own laundry, but I know you're all from space or whatever so let me know if you need help figuring out any of the appliances.

[Tony 616]
I don't really like you, but I don't want to fight about this.

[Pietro]
Where they have you working? I want to come by and bother you.

[Rogue 616]
Want to go grocery shopping?

See, I can't, though? I'm really hung up on this whole "you don't like me" thing now.

Fine. I dislike most of the Avengers and SHIELD as a whole and you shouldn’t take it so personally. Can we move on?

Actually, yes, that does make me feel a little better.

What were we talking about?

Not fighting. I’m not expecting you to spend any time with me or whatever, but be cool to the kids, don’t drink, and don’t make me clean up after your messes. And I’ll cook or whatever because I like eating and figure the rest of you do too.

Yeah. You really don't need to worry about that with me. I don't like messes. I do like kids. And I'm ten years sober. I have zero interest in experiencing the 1950s as my father.

Okay, good. This should work then.

... Thanks. For being decent about this.

I figure most married couples in the 1950s were basically coworkers, anyway. No reason why we can't work together.

I just don’t see a point in causing problems for ourselves when we’ll probably be facing worse soon enough.

Our teams have had differences, but I've also had pretty substantial differences with most of the people on my team, so you know. I'm not really one to hold onto things like that. I mean, I'm Iron Man, and I lived with Magneto for like 6 months without incident.

I’m just tired of being dragged into these Civil Wars. Your bs tends to trickle down, ya know? It’s hard not to resent everyone involved.

What’s your read on this situation so far? I don’t know if I really care either way which side wins.

Yeah. Well. Believe me, I don't love them either. Steve has been one of my best friends for years, but for some reason, our team can't make decisions without an adversarial process. That usually means we end up fighting. And Captain America does not fight clean.

I don't know. I have a weird feeling that something bad will happen if Russia wins. Less because of the communism thing and more because of the whole, Red Fascist authoritarianism thing.

I mean isn’t the bad part already happening if we’re arresting each other over... what, nothing? It’s just been too easy for them to turn us against each other. Punishments and rewards here have never been worth the damage we do to each other. Can’t we all just agree to chill out for once?

You know, it wouldn't be the worst idea to try. But there's always the prisoner's dilemma.

Nobody wants to be the sucker that gets betrayed.

But do you plan on getting into this game, or riding it out?

I don't know. I'm not that interested in pointing fingers. Especially knowing the kind of things that got fingers pointed at you - I'd just as soon sit this one out. Howard had a point, though. I'm working at the lab, so I'll be under scrutiny. HUAC really loved going after nuclear scientists. I don't know how that will go if they start calling us up.

Then we keep our heads low and sit it out as long as we can. I need the break, after everything with that damn machine.

If it's just us pointing the fingers, historical context might not even matter. But I don't think any of us know how this is going to go down quite yet. Over speculation can be dangerous.

Yeah, I don't want to start Avengers vs. X-Men Volume 2, but that shit got nuts.

You got a point. I wouldn't want to set us up by suggesting it.

I tried to smooth it over best I could. The Council has that thing now, they said?

Do we talk to the kids? They don't have a historical context for this sorta thing. I don't want to worry them over nothing, but I don't want them getting caught unaware either.

[...]Yep. I mean, where else would it be?

I think that might be best. If you don't talk to your kids about Communism, who will?
