WHO: Miah and Leah.
WHAT: A random encounter of the random kind.
WHERE: Outside the cafeteria.
WHEN: March 6th, 2020 :: Noon
RATING: Medium, maybe?
The need to get out of the apartment had been strong; it was the reason Miah was walking the halls near the cafeteria. He wasn’t hungry, but if he spent one more minute in the apartment he was going to break down and do something he had been fighting against doing for close to a month now. That bottle of oxycocet sat untouched, tucked away in his bag. There as a reminder of what he could do to escape everything, to get away from his feelings, the flashes of the future he saw and life in general. You can’t do that. He reminded himself. Now more than ever he couldn’t slip away and escape. Not when Ellie was dealing with David being back and her cousin having left. Maybe he had a martyr complex; maybe that’s why Miah seemed to always find himself putting Ellie’s needs above his own. Always been that way. He thought, shoving his hands deeper into his pockets as he turned the corner and made his way towards the cafeteria doors. Sometimes he found himself wonder who was looking out for him, if he was always looking out for Ellie. Often times he ignored that voice, shoved it off into the back of his mind. One more thing he didn’t focus on. The list was piling up now. Maybe one day it will be gone. But that day wasn’t today. No, today it was shuffled to the back of his mind with all the other things he wasn’t going to think about. The stuff he wanted to escape, but knew he couldn’t. He was just stepping up to the door when it swung open and he was nearly taken out by Leah Stone, who looked to have her hands full with enough food to feed an army. Okay, maybe an army was an exaggeration. “Here, I’ll get out of your way,” Miah stepped off to the side, pausing only a beat before asking. “Do you need any help with that stuff?” Again he found himself looking out for someone else and not himself. |
