| 02:24 am - HP Tarot Award Winners!
hp_tarot Fest Round Three, Awards List
Thanks to everyone who nominated fic and art for awards! We got a LOT of nominations, and I was pleased to see very often the same piece would get similar or the same nomination from multiple people. Also, many of the best pieces were nominated for multiple things – I chose only one award per piece, though.
Before we get into the art and fic awards, we have a few special awards to announce, for Best Commenters:
lotrwariorgodss was the most frequent commenter in the fest, making some on IJ and some on LJ and I *think* not missing a single contribution.
severed_lies was next, for not only the most comments on IJ (100% of the art, and all but the final 3 fics!) but also many thoughtful and well thought-out comments.
On IJ, honorable mention also goes to kabal42 for art comments.
On LJ, honorable mention for comments goes to angelbabe_cj, who commented copiously on fic and art, and to meghan70 and sugareey for art comments especially.
And now to the awards for fic and art contributions. There are a lot of them, so they are under the cut.
( Some really creative awards in here... )
Contributors to the fest, your award banners can be found here:
http://esoteric-renaissance.com/hp_tarot/banners/
named by your journal name. You can snarf your copy of hotlink from there to put your banner up in your journal or in your userinfo! Please do!
Thanks to beautyfulevil for making the banners!

| 10:44 pm - Fic: Children of Hope (1/4), by airmdm: Greg/Tracey, R Title: Children of Hope Author: airmidm on LJ Rating: R Characters: Greg Goyle/Tracey Davis Claim/Card: Ten of Swords Word Count: Total:10,322; Chapter One: 2,947; Chapter Two: 2,135; Chapter 3: 2,826; Chapter 4: 2,414 Warnings: The epilogue doesn't exist for me so this is EWE. There is mention of numerous character deaths and slight gore. There is also foul language, mentions of drug and alcohol use, Potter bashing (extensive), plots to take over the world... in other words, it is a Slytherin fic. ;)
Summary/Card interpretation: Crushing defeat brought about by idle intellectualism divorced from reality. (Which is portrayed by the end of the war with Voldemort and The Battle of Hogwarts.) Sadness and desolation in the aftermath of a catastrophic and total collapse. (Greg, specifically, how he deals with the end of the war, and the loss of loved ones.) A decisive conclusion brought about through the swift and merciless application of overwhelming force. (The aftermath of the war and what is necessary in order to preserve as much of the Wizarding World as possible.) This card also gives us a glimpse of hope. ;)
Greg and Tracey dealing with the aftermath of the final battle, to include the loss of one of their best friends and the total destruction of their world.
A/N: Greg and Tracey call each other Val and Maeve, nicknames from childhood. According to the Lexicon, the Goyle family is likely from Northern Ireland and I've gone with that supposition when I write Greg. Also, there is frequent references to The Little Prince as according to the 'canon' jandjsalmon and I have created when writing this pairing, it was their favourite book growing up. A big thank you for the hand holding and Beta goes to jandjsalmon!
( What hurts the most. )

Warnings: Inferi! Summary: n/a Cards Drawn/Interpretation:
Ace of Cups: Salazar Slytherin, wearing his locket and ring, stands in his library at Samhain. This card represents intuition, joy, the senses, compassion, autumn, and Samhain.
The Hanged Man: Regulus Black is pulled beneath the waters of the lake in the Horcrux cave by Inferi. This card, sometimes called The Traitor, represents sacrifice, renunciation, new point of view, letting go.
Artist Notes: Part of my ongoing Harry Potter Tarot Deck Project, ravenna_c_tan kindly let me post these as an addition to this round.

| 12:16 pm - Art (Part 2/2): Three of Cups and Three of Swords My apologies for this being a touch late, apparently be relaxing and thinking I had plenty of time, whilst making me more relaxed about the art, made me fail about the timing!
Part 1 is HERE, I'd recommend looking at those first, as they do follow on. If you want to read the (vague) story outline I created these images from, see the cut at the bottom.
Title: Research and Longing Artist: angelbabecj Type: Art Main character or Pairing: Harry, Snape/Draco Rating: G/PG Disclaimer: The characters depicted belong to JK Rowling amongst others, I'm not claiming anything but the situation I've put them in. Warnings: None Summary: Harry helps Snape and Draco research Snape's defence from trial. Harry is a little jealous. Cards Drawn: N/A Artist Notes: My thanks, as before, to lilydahlia and ravenna_c_tan
Title: Three of Cups Artist: angelbabecj Type: Art Main character or Pairing: Harry, Snape and Draco Rating: G Disclaimer: The characters depicted belong to JK Rowling amongst others, I'm not claiming anything but the situation I've put them in. Warnings: None Cards Drawn: Three of Cups Card Interpretation: Friendship and sharing. Deep connections, and celebration. The three cups are being held aloft in celebration by people from diferent backgrounds or cultures, working together while keeping their individuality. Artist Notes: Thanks to lilydahlia and ravenna_c_tan as before. Also, if you can't make it out Harry's cup has a phoenix on it, Draco's an 'M' and Snape's is meant to show hidden depths. I see the closeness they've developed preparing Snape's defence, whilst being individuals due to backgrounds, despite their similarities.
Title: Three of Swords (reversed) Artist: angelbabecjType: </b> Art Main character or Pairing: Harry/Snape/Draco or Drapery Rating: R Disclaimer: The characters depicted belong to JK Rowling amongst others, I'm not claiming anything but the situation I've put them in. Warnings: Implied nudity and sexual situations Summary: Draco and Snape weren't oblivious, or against the longing! Cards Drawn: Three of Swords, reversed. Card Interpretation: The usual symbol for this card is a heart, pierced by three swords. Reversed, however, it may refer to a release from sorrow or depression. I've slightly twisted the meaning, Harry's sorrow was that he couldn't be part of Draco and Snape's relationship, k? Also Ravenna mentioned to me she sees Slytherins as swords, which I can certainly see, and I associate Harry with the Sword of Gryffindor, hence their are three swords in the picture! Artist Notes: As ever, my thanks to lilydahlia and ravenna_c_tan for the resolution change and encouragement, and the original reading respectively.

| 06:49 am - FIC: One (Mostly) Happy Ending, Some Assembly Required Title: One (Mostly) Happy Ending, Some Assembly Required Author: Leela (leela_cat) Type: Fiction Length: ~ 8,150 words Main character or Pairing: Severus/Harry Rating: NC-17 Disclaimer: I don't own them. I don't make money from them. I just let them out to play for a while. Warnings: slight AU (EWE, Snape's alive, yadda) Summary: As the Death Eater trials wind to an end, Harry's inability to look doesn't stop him leaping when he thinks Severus is in danger. Just this once, he learns, his bad habit may just lead to something unexpected (and good) for both of them. Author Notes: Without my betas, regan_v, fbowden, iulia_linnea, and batdina, this story wouldn't be half of what it is (and I mean that quite literally). And for those few who saw it, my apologies for my (briefly) screwed up comm entry.

| 04:30 am - Art: The Empress (Narcissa) by soramame_kun Title: The Empress Artist: soramame_kun Type: Art Main character or Pairing: Narcissa Malfoy Rating: PG Disclaimer: This is fan art. The original Harry Potter is the property of Bloomsbury and JK Rowling. Warnings: none (a first for any of my pieces!) Summary: This is my first piece of fan art after a year. I have gone into semi-retirement since my son was born last July as I have not enough time these days as a young mother! Please please forgive the lower standard of my work than previously as I am horribly out of practice. I enjoyed doing this though, it made me all nostlagic for my days in HP Fandom. The card interpretation is under the cut as I prefer you to form your own interpretaion of it first before reading how I interpreted it.
Cards Drawn: The Empress Card Interpretation: The Empress is a creator of all things. She is the fertile womb where all things gestate and grow till they are ready to be born. This is why her symbol is Venus, goddess of beautiful things as well as love. Even so, the Empress is more Demeter, goddess of abundance, then sensual Venus. She is the giver of Earthly gifts, yet at the same time, she can, in anger withhold, as Demeter did when her daughter, Persephone, was kidnapped. In fury and grief, she kept the Earth barren till her child was returned to her. She can smother, be possessive and jealous and her children can suffer from being over-protected as well as neglected. She is usually depicted with wheat as a symbol of abundance as well as a crown of stars.

Warnings: AU (canon compliant up to HBP) Summary: When trapped in Azkaban, despair seems to be the only option. Help, however, can come from the most surprising of places. Author Notes: Many thanks to my amazing betas, centaury_squill, leela_cat and perverse_idyll. You rock! My apologies to Alexandre Dumas, père. Rowling. Warnings: None Cards Drawn: The Hanged Man Card Interpretation: The sacrifice the Hanged Man asks us to make is in the form of giving up things in our lives that do not serve us. Set aside one's own needs for the needs of others. Artist Notes: There are many ways to interpret the "Greater Good."
Title: The Sun Artist: harrysde on LJ Type: Art Main character or Pairing: Gellert Grindelwald Rating: G Disclaimer: Characters belong to J.K. Rowling. | 10:08 pm - Part 1 - prelude and Four of Coins Title: Escape and want Artist: angelbabecj Type: Art Main character or Pairing: Snape/Draco Rating: R Disclaimer: The characters depicted do not belong to me, but to JKR. I am simply using them. Warnings: chan (not graphic or non-con), canon compliant fully to HBP, and mostly DH. Cards Drawn: (prelude to) Four of coins
Artist Notes: I turned my cards into a past-present-future like story and this is the further past, background. Huge thanks to lilydahlia for being my cheerleader and changing my resolutions for me and ravenna_c_tan for the reading and allowing me to split this up. Also, I'm a tarot and fest novice, and it was a lot of fun :)
Title: Four of Coins Artist: angelbabecj Type: Art Main character or Pairing: Harry Rating: G Disclaimer: The characters depicted do not belong to me, but to JKR. I am simply using them. Cards Drawn: Four of Coins Card Interpretation: Four roots us in the physical world - the solar events (equinoxes used here), four directions - to front and back and either side. Also achievement and realisation of goals, power derived from skill or posessions (the elder wand) Artist Notes: Vertigo Tarot was used originally and see above.
Title: Meanwhile Artist: angelbabecj Type: Art Main character or Pairing: Draco, Snape - implied Snaco from before. Rating: PG-13 Disclaimer: The characters depicted do not belong to me, but to JKR. stonegrad
| 01:26 pm - Whenever Dark Draws Near [Lucius/Harry, R] Title: Whenever Dark Draws Near Author: stonegrad Type: Fic Length: 2700 Main character or Pairing: Lucius/Harry Rating: R Canon compliancy: Compliant up till the final battle, AU thereafter Disclaimer: anything recognizable belongs to JKR and WB, and I am making absolutely no profit from this Warnings: none Summary: When Harry Potter's hunt for Lucius Malfoy finally comes to a head in the backstreets of Rome, there's no telling how things are going to pan out... Cards Drawn: Wheel Of Fortune, Two Of Cups (R), Nine Of Wand Card Interpretation: condensed version - a clearly 'unpredictable turn of events' followed by some 'unfaithfulness' to, well, the war, and the opposing sides, and probably a few lovers, and ending with the very Malfoy position of 'knowing that you will be victorious'. Author Notes: This story almost never made it. The original fic grew too big to finish, and this one just didn't want to be written in the veryshort time frame I gave myself for it. A huge thanks to my beta, Cazz, who basically poked me in the shoulder until I wrote the damn thing - it's an odd story, I know, but it's here! I get points for that, surely.
( Stupidity, some might call it, but, well... he's Harry Potter. This is what he does... )
