Group Starter - Arrival
WHO: Everyone.
WHEN: Anytime before 11pm. Saturday, 9/8/2012
WHERE: The Eclipse Hotel, in Cantonville, Indiana
WHAT: To avoid a slew of very similar arrival posts, characters should arrive at the hotel here - however and whenever they like (please, to avoid confusion, put what time you're getting in somewhere in your comment... preferably the subject line XD). Weirdness Magnet and Honeymooning Couple are already present on the grounds, but they can interact with or comment on the new arrivals as they see fit.
WARNING: As a group introductory post, anything too mature should be taken to its own thread. This is all public, so don't make me call the police out here in the middle of the storm to make arrests for indecency. They've better things to do.
Severe weather warnings went out just before noon. By late afternoon, all flights in and out of the city had been canceled due to the storm. Indiana was usually considered a flyover state, not a tourist destination, and were it not for the airport in Cantonville, few would stop there deliberately. It was barely a city, boasting a population of less than seven thousand people. As it was, most of the flights were just brief layovers, if they weren’t emergency stops at the tiny airport due to circumstance. It was rarely a final destination. Until the storm lifted, everyone in the area was going to be stranded. Those who were disinclined to sleep in the airport would just have to make do with what the town offered. There wasn’t much, and the oft-neglected Holiday Inn filled up quickly with irate passengers who’d been on their way to more exciting, hospitable locations. The Eclipse can take you in, but avoid room 215. Of the hundred rooms available, only the honeymoon suite and one guest room (215) were claimed prior to the storm, so the hotel manager was quite accommodating; reducing rates dramatically for the reluctant, stranded guests out of simple Christian kindness. Regardless of whether or not the guests arrived by their own volition or by cab, they were all greeted with a reassuring smile from the man behind the registration desk. Check-in was relatively painless, all things considered. |
