Ethan Trimble -- Arrival Time: 5:16PM
After hours upon hours of waiting in the airport for the weather to hopefully clear, Ethan had finally gotten word that his flight wasn't going anywhere for a while. Being single and childless meant he could allow himself a little luxury - even on his meager wages - and he was quick to pick up on where he could get a room for the night. This was a good thing because sitting in an airport for hours on end with his carry-on and the large suitcase he'd checked in was anything but fun. Trying to get food while hauling that thing around was a nuisance. In fact, everything about this day and the damn airport had him in a tiff.
He got a cab outside the airport and relaxed against the leather as he tried to watch his surroundings. The view consisted mostly of rain beating down on the window so that didn't help much and it was always awkward to be in a car with a stranger. Ethan was quick to fish a book out of his backpack, more to seem occupied than to actually occupy himself, but he was acutely aware of the driver looking at him ever so often in the rearview mirror, which was intensely frustrating.
Once they arrived at the hotel, the driver helped him with his suitcase and then stood there for a moment as if he wanted to say something. Ethan stared at him blankly before awkwardly searching his pockets for a tip. He was too tired to be of any use today it seemed, flights just did his head in. The driver accepted his tip and then muttered something before stalking off to the driver's seat again. It was quiet and quick, but it sounded eerily like, "Be careful in there, the place is haunted." Or perhaps, "Be caffeinated, please son..Ted?"
"Pardon?" Ethan had managed to say but the guy was already slamming the door shut, so, so much for that. Ethan wasn't about to stand there and ponder, he was getting soaked through and the hotel awaited. He trudged inside and was relieved to find that the driver's advice(?) was not because there was heavy construction going on or otherwise dangerous conditions. The foyer looked just fine and he really couldn't wait to get a room and perhaps nap for an hour or two.
He could really appreciate the key he got, there was something nostalgic and sweet about an actual key, instead of those modern swipe cards that always felt a little fake somehow. It was heavy in his hand when he accepted it and he definitely wanted to start with sleeping, even if he was hungry after the dumb day he'd just had. He'd be up in time for a good dinner, he thought as the bellhop took his bag from him, relieving him of at least one of his current burdens.
