RP: Full Moon
Who: Anyone who wants to be involved
When: Monday, 26 April, 2038 - Tuesday, 27 April, 2038
Where: On the grounds and then in to the castle
What: A couple werewolves just trying to get by with a little help from friends

Another month. Another moon.

Though he understood the potion worked now, was a miracle if he was honest, Remus still wasn't interested in taking too many chances. Not until he had a few months without incident under his belt. So, he still planned on using the Pitch to transform and run with the others. It would do him good to stretch and run. He'd noticed the previous month that the wolf form had the exact opposite reaction to the transformation as his human form. Where the transformation at the end of the night left him exhausted and barely able to move, the wolf form benefited from running and gently working pained muscles. It was probably something the curse needed to survive. No use having a violent predator that couldn't spread the infection of the curse because he was in too much pain to move. Still, it was something Remus had never noticed until the previous moon.

He'd offered to let Fenrir join them and he'd taken Remus up on that offer this month. So, there would be two of them, plus Padfoot and Prongs.

This could either go really well, or terribly wrong. But, Remus was hopeful in favour of the former.

Remus was focused on making sure Peter and Fenrir felt comfortable, not as though they were intruding on the evening. He was focused on staying close to Sirius and making sure he knew Remus was still there, that he wasn't going anywhere. Honestly, it was probably a good thing, in a way, because it meant he wasn't focusing on what was coming, the pain of the transformation.

But, he wasn't so focused on the three of them that he missed James separating himself from the group.

After watching his friend move around the pitch for a bit, Remus left the others with a quiet word and went to talk to James. He made an effort to not walk as silently as he could, seeing the tension in James' posture. It wouldn't do to startle him and get someone hexed on accident. Coming up beside him, he stayed standing, rather than squat down as well, not wanting to be seen as invading the moment if James really just wanted to be alone. He didn't ask if James was all right because he assumed he already knew the answer. So, instead, his question was "You going to be okay tonight?"

James heard Remus coming, knowing from the lightness of the footsteps who was approaching even before he turned round. Instead he carried on with his charm, watching the old wood weave itself back together.

When Remus spoke, he turned long enough to shoot him a smile, pushing his glasses up his nose.

"Course. You know me, Moony. Old reliable." The work was finished when he turned back and James tucked his wand away, instead knocking the repair with the heel of his hand. It gave a satisfying 'clunk' noise.

"Look at that," he said, pleased. "Solid as a rock. I should get paid for this stuff." Rocking back on his heels, James turned to face his friend properly, a shadow of concern passing over his face. He almost checked his watch, then remembered he'd left it in the room. "How you feeling? We've got a bit of time still, haven't we?"

"If you're Old Reliable, does that make Pads the Empress of Stormy Emotions? Because I think that makes me the plucky niece who doesn't think the man who proposed to her was serious," Remus cheeked with a bit of a soft smirk, not convinced for a moment but willing to let the bluff stand for a moment.

Squatting down, weight all on the balls of his feet, he did take a look at that, more to please James than from any real need to inspect the work. "You get paid for it and you'll be a proper upstanding citizen, marketable skill, respectable wife, successful son. No more acting like a carefree wastrel with us boys." He threw James a teasing wink before using his hands on his knees as leverage to push himself back up to a standing position.

"We've a bit of time left, don't worry." He smiled ruefully. "I can feel it crawling under my skin, so not long, but a bit more, yet." He wanted to say that it helped having all of them there. But, he suspected James wasn't ready to hear that sentiment, still.

James shot Remus a completely baffled look. "You know I have no idea what you're on about, right? Who's proposing to who?"

"Don't be disgusting," he snorted, giving the wood one last knock before following Remus' lead and clambering to his feet. "I'll always be a carefree wastrel at heart." It was cold, even if the charms kept the worst of the rain off them, and he fought off a shiver, pulling his coat a little more securely around himself as he looked out across the pitch. He could see the other three stood a little way away, their faces shadowed by the dying light.

"Alright," he nodded thoughtfully, pulling his thoughtful gaze away and instead gesturing at the final corner of the pitch. "I've just got this bit to check then I'm done." James quirked a dark eyebrow in Remus' direction. "I'm trying to contain my careless wastrelling to parts of the school that really deserve it. I might flood the dungeons later."

Remus laughed softly at his friend's expression. "Muggle books," he explained. "Main character's nickname was 'Old Reliable'. Mam loved 'em."

Rolling his eyes, he shook himself a bit like his alter-ego to stay drier and warm. The thing about having a slightly elevated body temperature that no one seemed to understand was that he felt the cold all that much more. He might be used to it, but it was still uncomfortable. "I'd like to see you tell Lily that and see how much wastrelling she approves of," he teased.

Following James gaze, he nodded. It wouldn't do to push this close to the transformation and, James said he was all right, then Remus would accept it for now and push later when claws and large incisors were not imminent. He snorted. "You will not flood the dungeons or you will have a cranky werewolf to deal with after," was his admonishment. Not to mention how badly Regulus might hex James for damaging his residence. "We're probably fine," he added, looking around. "But, since it doesn't hurt to check, I'll keep you company."
