Lei was beginning to wonder if the baby she never had would haunt her for the rest of her life. Enough time had passed as it was, yet she still found herself wanting a baby and feeling empty. She found herself wanting to cry at random times when she saw a mother with a child. She'd heard of things like that happening when someone had a miscarriage or an abortion, but she didn't think it could happen when a person had never been pregnant in the first place.
The initial discovery that she hadn't been pregnant had been the happiest moment of her life, until she saw the expression on Mitchell's face, yet now it seemed that she really did want the child she never had, though she couldn't understand why. She and Mitchell weren't even dating anymore and hadn't been for a long time. Despite that, he was the one she could actually see herself marrying and having a family with. A relationship long gone and he was the only one she could see herself committing to. It was a shame she hadn't felt that way when she had the chance.
This wasn't the time to think about past experiences and past regrets. She was going over to Mitchell's place and while it seemed like an odd way to forget about their past, it was something to do. It was something to keep her mind occupied. She only hoped it would work.
She left her flat with some bowls in her arms, carrying the things she cooked for Mitchell's dinner that night. She had a feeling he would think she went overboard, but cooking had kept her mind off things as well. That was what was important. She apparated from her place to near his and made her way to the apartment number he had given her. Once she found it, she took a breath before knocking on the door and waiting.
