Mitchell laughed as Lei mentioned the fact that he would eat well with the leftovers that were sure to be remaining in his home after this evening. Typically Mitchell kept his kitchen well stocked with a variety of foods that he could prepare simply and take with him to work, but with the hectic detour his life had taken since he signed the lease on his new place Mitchell simply had not found time to properly go shopping. Yes, these leftovers would be very much appreciated.
Setting things on the counter next to the sink, Mitchell turned to face the door in time to see Lei follow him into the kitchen. The room suddenly seemed smaller than he remembered, and Mitchell was very aware of how close Lei was to him. This is silly Mitchell told himself, shaking his head slightly to clear his thoughts.
"Would you like something to drink?" He asked her, pulling down two glasses from the cupboard over the sink. Holding them in his left hand, Mitchell reached over to check what refreshments he might have in his fridge. "I have water, orange juice and some merlot left over from Juliet's visit last night." he told Lei. Yes, this was the gracious thing to do to any guest, but the routine of playing host also calmed Mitchell's anxiety. Anxiousness was a silly feeling to be having around someone he had known the ins and outs of for two years, but there he was, holing to glasses in front of him to give him something to do with his hands and looking at her with an apologetic half-grin, certain she was thinking that we was behaving foolishly.
