Once Lei was in the kitchen, she found a clear spot to set the things she was carrying down and did so. With her hands now empty, she found that she felt a little awkward. She wasn't sure if it was being as close to Mitchell as she was the thoughts plaguing her mind, but she found she didn't know what to do with her hands. She settled on clasping them in front of her and reminded herself that she still considered him a close friend despite the fact that their relationship hadn't worked out. It wasn't fair to him for her to feel awkward around him.
She snapped immediately from her thoughts hearing his question. "What?" she asked before she could stop herself, then she shook her head. "Oh, yes, something to drink would be nice," she added quickly as a way to cover for asking him what he'd said. She really needed to keep herself focused while she was there. "A glass of merlot sounds good, actually," she added after he listed off the drink options. She thought that maybe that would help calm her nerves, at least a little.
She was honestly too lost in her own thoughts, and the fact that she still didn't know what to do with her hands to notice whether or not Mitchell was acting oddly. To her, he was acting perfectly normal, though if she was acting anywhere normal she might have noticed the little oddities about his behavior. Instead, she was too concerned that he might notice hers.
