Who: Evan and Natalie
What: Fighting! The future becomes the present!
When: Tonight
Where: Natalie's apartment
Rating: PG-13
Natalie had actually had high hopes for this dinner going in. It had been a little flattering, knowing that Evan was going to close the gym early for her regardless of what his father might think. She'd almost forgiven him for ditching her and trying to shove babysitting duty on her in the same night until their waitress had come around.
Now, Natalie understood a waitress flirting a little for tips. She'd done it before, sometimes more shamelessly than others, but when a man was clearly on a date, it was another matter entirely. You didn't go there- you just didn't. This waitress didn't seem to grasp that, unfortunately. It didn't help that she was, quite frankly, adorable, with perfect brown wavy hair and legs that seemed like they stretched on forever. It would have been one thing for the flirting to have been one-sided, but it wasn't. Evan had flirted right back, tossed a smile, laughed at her jokes. Natalie had been ten seconds from storming out when she decided going to the restroom was a safer option.
And she might have been able to let it go if she hadn't seen Evan slipping a piece of paper into his pocket. The pen for the bill wasn't in Evan's hand but in hers. She had just given him her number, and he had taken it! Her boyfriend had taken another girl's number! A perky, pretty girl's number!
Natalie hadn't strangled him as she felt the sudden urge to do. Instead, she'd managed to wait until they were in the car to start things, and by the time they had reached her apartment, they were already arguing. Her door was shoved open roughly after a struggle getting her keys into the lock. "You know what, Evan? I don't want to hear it, okay?" she snapped as she slid out of her heels, dropping a few inches.
