Seeking Professional Assistance
Who: Severus Snape, Marietta Edgecombe-Spencer
What: Severus has a professional question.
Where: Marietta's salon
When: Saturday around 11:00-ish in the morning, 20 October
External transformation was a lot easier than the internal sort. It had been a simple matter to get Lorcan to give him the haircut and to ask Draco to advise him as to the proper wearing of ordinary clothing that wasn't robes.
Turning himself into a decent human being who could interact politely with the general populace without sneering down his nose or bossing people about was a much more difficult matter.
However, just now, he had chosen to make another effort toward improving the external. The haircut had helped, and the fact that he was no longer standing in a classroom full of steaming cauldrons for eight to ten hours a day had helped, too. But his hair and skin were still naturally very oily, and he'd now tried every variety of shampoo sold at that general store, plus making a few additions of his own with potions. Unfortunately, this was the one area of potions-making where his interest level had been lacking and so his knowledge was weak. He'd made some anti-wrinkle and anti-aging sorts of potions for some of the wives of his Death Eater associates over the years, but nothing more.
So now, even trimmed to a better shape, his hair was brittle and dry at the ends while his scalp remained as oily as ever. If he wanted to make a complete change, he was going to need some help. He was too embarrassed to ask Draco, Narcissa or Lorcan for advice on the matter and didn't want to take the time researching it in the library when there were professionals available to address the process.
He would just have to trust that Mrs Spencer wouldn't use the opportunity to poke fun at him.
This was actually perfect timing, because he'd promised Albus a photo with him this afternoon. Perhaps, if Mrs Spencer was very good at her job, he might actually be in a halfway decent state for the photo. The bell over the salon door rang as he entered. The first thing he did was glance about to make certain there were no other patrons there to witness his embarrassment.
