Who: Greg and Draco
What: Two friends reunited. Inevitable awkwardness.
Where: The Manor
When: Saturday afternoon
Rating: PG
Greg was a little apprehensive. Even before Draco's disappearance, he had no idea of what he ought to do if he was to find himself face to face with his old friend. The problem was the emphasis on the word "old", of course, though Greg had never stopped to think about it. He had always seen Draco as a friend, albeit one who was on a much higher position than he felt he'd ever be, but then sixth year happened and Draco had started to alternate between acting distant and bullying him and Vince into drinking Polyjuice potion and keeping guard without really bothering to explain the reason why.
And then, of course, Greg's dad came back and told him the Malfoys were no longer worthy of their esteem, and he and Vince started turning into the Carrows' golden boys (well, Vince, mostly, though Greg had also received his share of praise) and the gap between the two of them and Draco kept growing even further.
And then the Battle happened, and it all turned to hell. Greg tried not to think about it, or about Vince, as it made his heart hurt, but it was inevitable. Everything was still too fresh in his memory, and he ended up thinking about his friend's death every single day.
He wondered if there was a way of crossing the gap separating him and Draco. He wasn't going to lose another friend after Vince if he could help it, but... at the same time, he was afraid the gap was already too big and he might fall inside.
Reaching the entrance to Malfoy Manor, he took a deep breath. He might as well try, otherwise the gap would never be closed.
The problem was, he had no idea what to do once he reached the gate. Would he be able to open it? After all the trouble they had had, surely there were wards securing the place? Shrugging, he did the only thing he could think of: shouting.
"Hello! Anyone there?"
