WHO: Regina Black and Kirley Dukehope
WHEN: Tuesday, late morning
WHERE: Compound Courtyard two
WHAT: Reg interrogates Duke.
WARNINGS: TBD

Duke was up to something, and Regina knew it. He had to be. There was no logical reason for him to be so secretive with her. She had to find out what he was plotting.

The memory she had chosen that morning was of her sixth birthday party, her favorite party. It had been princess themed, and her mother and father had really pulled out all the stops. She got a beautiful tiara and a pretty party dress, and everything was perfect. She lived the memory through her mother's eyes, and though Reg no longer believed what her parents did in regards to blood purity and societal hierarchies, it was nice to relive some of the happier moments when her family was all together. She did still love her parents, after all.

Living that memory had put her in a great mood, much better than the day before, so as soon as Duke let it slip where he was, she headed out of her room to find him, stopping first in the block common room to grab a banana on her way out. She needed some sort of breakfast after all.

First she went to the courtyard by the pool and gym, but couldn't see him anywhere. There were a few people flying around on broomsticks, and she was really tempted to join them, but figuring Duke out was a bit more important at the time.

So she headed to the second courtyard and spotted him quickly, sitting under a tree off in the corner.

Walking over to him, she sat herself down next to him and poked him in the side. "You are in trouble, mister," she said with a grin. "Keeping secrets. Very rude."

"Don't you start about alcohol," she said, elbowing his side. "You're the one that took advantage or poor, drunk, me in Greece. Even if I was a willing participant..." She grinned then.

She took another bite of her banana and pulled her legs up to her chest as he spoke, nodding, then grinning. "A ha," she said. "Look who's on the other side now. Wanting something you can't have. Sounds very familiar. I wonder why."

Reg smiled then, and got a bit more serious. "Just because you want him, doesn't mean that you should have him. If it gets to the point where you truly only want him, and he's not okay with that, then you need to let him go. You're never going to be happy if you're settling for not being the only one when you really want to be. Trust me. I know these things."

Rolling her eyes, she finished off her food and tossed the skin off to the side to throw away later. "I am not an old maid," she said. "Though if you'd have asked my mother before I came here she would adamantly disagree with you. Finding me a match was going slowly, and she was very worried."

"Any takers so far?" she asked then. She couldn't help but be curious, after all.

"Exactly. There was no advantage-taking." And Duke drank more than almost anyone else, something he was starting to consider - was it a problem? Did he need to do it less? Would that fix anything? Was there anything to even fix?

"Ha ha," Duke rolled his eyes with the sarcastic, pronounced laugh. "I always get myself into that situation. First it was Tau, now him. It's a terrible addiction." He let out a sigh as he listened to the rest, knowing it was true. "That doesn't work well for me. If there's something, someone, I want then I'm not going to stop trying. It may not be the best, but hey, at least I'm not a quitter."

Giving a genuine laugh, Duke reached over and draped his arm around her shoulders, giving a shrug. "Just taking preventative measures. One Harry Potter said he'd take you dancing, but he thinks of you as family because your sister is his uncle in another world or something. Doesn't sound like it counts to me, and then there's another bloke who I haven't talked to much. Mostly I just got girls wondering the same thing." That was even more hilarious to him, but he kept that to himself.

"I get being persistent, I do. But there comes a time when you have to give up, or it'll drive you crazy. Knowing you can't have something and still going after it is not healthy," Reg said. It wasn't like she was trying to discourage Duke from what he thought would make him happy, but she didn't want to see him keep going after something he would never get and eventually would make him miserable. He was her friend, even if they'd taken a strange route to get there, and she cared about him.

"Well that's what happens when you leave a journal open to the entire Compound. You really should learn to ward, you know."

Leaning over into his arm, she laid her head against his chest. "I am not related to Harry Potter," she said. "First of all, he's a girl in my world. Secondly, I died before he was even born. It doesn't count. But I do like dancing. Who's the other bloke you were talking, to, do you know? Which Harry was it? I've not spoken to all of them, but I've spoken to most."
