Who: Remus Lupindiv & Sirius Blackbaby
What: Talking. Remus is bringing tea.
Where: Sirius' room
When: Sunday afternoon/evening
Warnings: "Fan required" - Sil

It took Remus longer than he anticipated because he stopped to make tea. Since it would have been rude to show up at someone's door with your own tea and none to offer, he then had to make two cups. He then carried them to Sirius' room and tapped on the door with the toe of his boots. Sure, he could have used several spells to make the whole process easier, but he really didn't care. Especially not now with his mind distracted as it was. His earlier conversation with Theodora had his thoughts going in plenty of directions.

His eyebrows went up in response, like saying, "What? Am I wrong?" Sirius knew the answer to that, so he didn't put forth the rhetorical questions. Waste of time. Instead, he was snug and secure in the truth of his statement. Remus liked that, liked that about him. Instead he started humming, nothing in particular, though it was bound to end up being a song he didn't know the lyrics for well enough.

It did, sure enough. And the inability to remember lines was driving Sirius crazy. I something something with you something something something. Or maybe it wasn't with but to. He didn't know for sure. So when Remus spoke, he stopped humming. Truth or dare? His smile broke out even larger. "Hell yes, Moony," Sirius even pulled his arm back so his hands could rub themselves together enthusiastically. "So, truth or date, mate?"

The humming didn't bother him at all. It was a nice background noise until he broke the silence. Then they seemed equally as eager to play this game. He thought about that question, wondering which one he was going to pick, which one he felt more in the mood for.

Since he was already good at telling Sirius anything, he decided to go with the other option. Plus, he was curious as to what Sirius would come up with, though that could always go in the form of a question. Anyway, he was from Dauntless. So why not. "Dare."

Excited as he was, Sirius turned sideways on the couch, his legs coming up to sit cross-legged. The move made him perilously perched on the edge of the couch, but his balance prevented him from falling on the floor. His hands ran along his thighs as he thought about it, about what he'd ask for depending on what Remus said. His tongue slipped out, running along his upper lip, as he sat there watching him.

"What to dare a Dauntless," Sirius muttered out loud, humming again to himself, the jeopardy theme song this time. His eyes glanced around the room. "Make that lamp sexy," Sirius pointed to a tall floor lamp in the corner, his eyes lighting up.

Remus' gaze switched to Sirius' hands as he kept his position on the couch. His lips were turned mischievously, daring him to dare his best. There wasn't much he wouldn't do, after all. He laughed at the dare and turned to get a good look at the lamp.

"The problem, you see, is that sexy is up to the eye of the beholder." He squinted, brows furrowed as he considered it. Then, with a flick of his wand, the lamp transformed until it resembled the statue of David. Sexy and classic, as well as modest. Remus chuckled and turned for approval.

"Okay, truth or dare, Sirius Black?"

His fingers tapped against his legs as he waited. There had been an interpretation he had in mind, but it was more fun to see what Remus thought of it and what he did than forcing Remus into a corner. Corners were more comfortable than edges, but they were both more comfortable on the couch. And David was a classic, without even a fig leaf in front of his modest sized junk. Marble wasn't the medium for exaggeration, not when that wasn't the point of it. But his head gave a small turn of appreciation.

"I've seen sexier, but I'll agree with that," Sirius replied, looking over still at where Remus sat, shirt still open more than usual for the tattoo. "And it's me, love. Got to do dare."

"What were you expecting?" There had to be something Sirius was imagining when he said it and Remus wanted to know what that was.

"Alright," the corner of his mouth twitched and Remus' arms bent until his elbows were on the back of the couch. "I dare you to get what you want most right now." He didn't like the dares that only had one route either. It was more interesting if the other person had some creative wiggle room, and their dares were more telling than the average one.

Remus wasn't being innocent at all, either. He wanted to push Sirius, to see what he would do. It could make everything a lot easier and simpler, and yes he was still flirting with not-so-naive looks.

Making a bit of a pout, Sirius looked at Remus and made him wait a good few seconds before answering. "I was expecting you to make it sexy, you know, you and the lamp." Sirius laughed, it had been a ridiculous idea he hadn't really expected it to happen. It had just been what was running through his mind at the time.

His fingers then his palms hit against his legs as he thought about the dare. What he wanted most? Right then? And it was meant to be selfish, or so it sounded. Besides, he couldn't just make Astro or Astrid suddenly feel better because he was dared to. Nor were they there at the moment. Wanted for him, wanted for him, ... Sirius wanted to be over Gamma, completely. That wasn't so much something to do action-wise. And while he'd always care for Oscar, that was different than being over him.

There was a way to test that though. His stomach flipped a little, but Remus was looking at him like that, like he was just waiting for Sirius to do something. So Sirius leaned forward, kissed Remus on the cheek, and sat back. His head tilted, and Sirius was amazed at the lack of guilt he felt. Maybe he really was over Oscar. Sirius grinned.

"Oh," Remus understood it that time and couldn't help but laugh. "So that's what you meant." Maybe if he had gotten it the first time he would have done it that way. Not that he was sure how exactly one went about making a lamp sexy with nothing to help.

Remus waited patiently for Sirius to do something. When he finally did, Remus smiled and tilted his head for just a second. His attention settled on Sirius for only a moment or two and then he gave a nod. "That makes it my turn. I'll go with truth this time."

Remus had yet to prove his mind anywhere as dirty capable as Sirius's. And he hadn't, thus, had to make a lamp sexy. In drunken evenings, Sirius had committed similar acts before, being encouraged on by good company. Admittedly, he didn't think his Sirius had always approved, despite the little smiles he tried to hide. But the David was nice, even if it didn't light up the room the same way as before. But maybe he could make it a lamp.

His eyes was all on watching Remus's reaction to the kiss then. Sirius had been selfish in doing it, doing what he had wanted. He hadn't thought about the consequences of it, other than continuing not to be the chicken in their flirting, as it went on. As for truth, Sirius wiggled his toes in thought, "Why'd you choose to tattoo me with your name like that?" He hadn't cared, having liked it, but he wanted to know.

No, Remus didn't usually go straight to dirty things or think them up all on his own. He easily could be dirty, but he still wasn't entirely comfortable when Sirius chose to be naked - whether while climbing a building or at a dance. That was just the way he was but it didn't make him like Sirius any less.

He took in a deep breath after the question had been posed. "Well, you had already chosen for me to have your name, so it was only a fair choice," Remus glanced up to look him directly in the eye before continuing, "And since you're close with your own Moony, it makes sense to have a good, meaningful tattoo. Especially for your first one. I can't lie and say I won't enjoy seeing my own handwriting there, of course, and I dunno. It just looks nice." He shrugged and ran a hand through his hair, ruffling the middle part that usually stuck up in several directions.

They were comfortable and having a fun, if so far modestly tame, game of truth or dare. The oldie but goodie never had a reason to be shunned. Sirius was thirty, by two counts, but the big three oh wasn't going to make him suddenly grow up a lot more and stop having fun. He was plenty grown up. Sure he let loose here in some ways he wouldn't back home. Naked at a ball wasn't something a budding politician could get away with, even him. But Sirius hadn't ever wanted to do that there anyway. Here, someone else had the power to do that without needing permission whenever they wanted. Sure Gamma wasn't the sort to do that. But his point stood. It changed social norms. Anyway, he was waiting to hear about his tattoo.

Resting his elbow near his knee, Sirius leaned forward a bit, resting his chin on his hand, and looking up at Moony, just looking and not saying anything and inviting more and more of an answer. "Mmhmm," Sirius agreed, but he kept looking at Remus, like he fully expected the man to say more. Sirius did. So he just kept looking and waiting expectantly.

Remus couldn't help but laugh, nervous under the close scrutiny. Sirius wanted more, he could tell, but he didn't know what more to say. "Uhm," he stalled, pulling an arm down to wrap his fingers around his chin in thought. "Well, it's Moony rather than Remus because Moony means much more, you know? Anyone can be a Remus, but not everyone has a Moony, and you, all of you, have helped all Moonys."

Letting out a sigh, he relaxed and put his elbows back on the top of the couch and he stared back. "I don't know what else you want," he said, though he was smiling like he would gladly give more if he could.

It was adorable, the way Remus got nervous. Sirius was just Sirius, same ol' as he had always been. Admittedly, each of them was fairly different and Sirius was now finally out of a funk that had lasted alost a month. But still, he was himself. And he wanted more, as he always wanted. And saying exactly what it was? That didn't make Moony squirm as much. Silence was so much more enjoyable for that. He smiled though, at the talk of Moony and Remus. It was rather fitting that his nickname for this Remus was Inked Moony. Not only did Moony have tattoos but he was tattooed, inked in, on Sirius's skin. In Remus's handwriting.

"Only all of you," Sirius replied, half-joking without any thought of it. But he smiled, sitting up a little straighter. "I'll take another dare, love," he added. Leaning back a little, he stretched his sides, as if leaning forward had cramped him in any way. It hadn't.

"Well I'm right here," Remus offered quietly, under his breath, the words fitting his body language entirely. He was there - Merlin, he didn't know how he'd gotten to this point - offering himself like he was ready for someone to have him. Whether that was physical or metaphorical; it worked both ways if you looked at like that. But he had to come up with another dare.

"Hum." For some reason, it came a lot quicker than he expected and the idea had Remus laughing to himself. Even if he wanted to take everything slow and not rush or think about it much, he was getting frustrated with how things were progressing. Clearly they got along well and liked in each other in some manner. "I dare you to stay still," his lips quirked in a grin and then he brought his knees up on the couch so that he was facing Sirius.

Leaning forward, his hands planted on bare spots of the cushions to hold himself up and he lingered just inches in front of Sirius. The dare didn't really matter, at least not to him, and especially not when he pressed their lips together. Remus kissed him slowly, slightly teasing since Sirius wasn't really allowed to move.

Sirius's eyes dropped for a moment, just to look at all of Remus, the way he sat on the couch, his adam's apple, up along his neck to look at his face again. Merlin, there hadn't been a reason to whisper, but it felt quieter, damn quiet, after Moony said that. So he stopped thinking for the moment, the usual way of planning dares and truths and thinking about the exactness of what they were doing, and watched Remus. He had to see it, to know.

His eyebrows came together instantly, curious and wanting to respond, at least in words, to the dare. His lips almost parted before Sirius caught himself. But his legs stayed crossed, as they were, and his toes even stopped moving. His hands rested along his legs, and he just sat there, wondering what Remus was going to do that was going to make it hard to stay still. There were so many different ways, and Remus likely knew every achilles heel he had.

Getting closer wasn't surprising. His heart beat faster, but Sirius neither pulled away or pushed closer. A damn hard feat that was with Remus so close he could smell him,s mell his shirt, smell how little air was between them. Sirius rarely lost a dare, and he held himself there, eyes open watching as Remus got closer and closer. To be honest, Sirius still hadn't expected it, even when they were so close any movement on his part would have pushed their mouths together. His first thought, when he felt the kiss, was that he had done it, that he had broken the dare and just kissed Remus. But his body held as tense as before. It hadn't been him-

His eyes got a little wider, and his arms twitched to come up before Sirius caught himself. But kissing, that didn't count as moving when Moony started it. Well, Sirius didn't care if it did. Remus was free to call him on it. His lips pressed back, making it a kiss between them, not one-sided. It made him want more, to do more, but Sirius wavered around the line, not turning it into more at that time. His head was swimming with previous comments Moony had said.

Sirius was good, he had to give him that. He stayed perfectly still as he got closer, and he didn't even count kissing him back as really moving. Sure, there was something behind it, but if there had been nothing but something like a statue in front of him, it wouldn't have been nearly as good. And the kiss, well, it was damn good.

Remus didn't really think about how his thumb started moving, brushing against Sirius' leg for the moments he continued. It wasn't a terribly long kiss, though, only some seconds so that he could leave a good impression while not giving away too much. Finally he sat back on his heels, sitting low and slightly hunched forward.

"You're good," he said, grinning as his eyes narrowed. Now there was just the waiting period for some real reaction to what he'd done. Or nothing more than continuing the game. Either way, Remus believed he'd upped the level of dares with that move.

His heart was having troubles staying in his chest. His mind was all sorts of confused. Everything was pushed aside for the duration of the kiss, just making it a perfect moment in the moment, not to be tainted by anything else. His attention itched to every place between them, like the air itself was heating up from being pressed between them. And yes, Sirius noticed the caress, noted every little thing Remus did. And it left him breathless and catching up.

There were games between friends, but kissing James wouldn't have felt anything like that. And Sirius had kissed James before. In truth or date. This wasn't like that. The two weren't anything alike, and Sirius was almost staring a bit, at Remus, as he tried a little harder to breath. "You..." Sirius began, motioning toward Remus because sod the game, sod it all, it wasn't one. And if it were one to Remus, then Sirius didn't know him an eighth as well as he thought. "We," Sirius tried again, "Us.."

"Are you going to string together enough words to make an actual sentence?" Remus angled his head to the side, somewhat pleased with himself for making Sirius of all people unable to come up with words. Well, maybe he never gave himself enough credit over all these years, a thought that had him chewing at his lower lip as he glanced back up to see if anything had changed.

"You shouldn't be surprised - unless you haven't actually been flirting so openly and heavily with me." Now it was his turn for an increased heart rate. This situation wasn't one he ever faced in a fear landscape.

His mind was still whirling to catch up. There had been little things, little hints, to himself that Sirius could have noticed had he been looking for them. Sirius wasn't a fool. They had been flirting like crazy. There had always been some kind of tension like that between them, and lately, well, lately- Sirius hadn't been thinking about whether it meant something, the entire time. It was possibly selfish and wrong of him, when he thought about how much he had been flirting with, well, a lot of people but two more than most. But it wasn't the time to think about everything and all he had done with everyone. It was time to think about Remus. It was a quick decision, yes, but it was the way Sirius operated. He shoved the complications of time away because his ethics had guided him this far in his life, and he wasn't about to abandon it to get lost in a moral quandary that, while difficult on him, was unfair to multiple people.

Merlin, he really was over Oscar, and that had been all he had been thinking about. But he was, and that meant it was okay, it was okay to think about other feelings. It was such an onslaught of emotion, not that he hadn't been feeling it before, but Sirius hadn't thought about what they were, about what it meant, about what it meant he wanted. Even for him, that was a bit much in a matter of seconds. But there was more between them, more than just a Padfoot and a Moony, more than inking their names on each other, more than just being friends.

"Not ... not surprised, well surprised, but not that," Sirius was still trying to find his tongue, "Never expected you to make the first move." That was almost a sentence. He was getting better with talking, even as his brain continued at warp speed, trying to figure stuff out. Sirius had wondered, even before Moony had shown up, if he there was something about the two of them that made it natural, just fitting together. But he hadn't felt this way toward the other Moony's. It was this one. He grinned.

"Honestly? Neither did I." For good reason. Remus hadn't been trying to find someone in his world and this compound was only worse. He hadn't given any real thought to them because he didn't know what that really meant. Was he going to eventually give in and be with him, or anyone for that matter, when anyone could disappear at any moment? He didn't want to get attached to someone in that way, to fall in love with anyone, if they were just going to one day be gone. No warning. No way of finding them.

No, it was worse than that. It was a return to their normal life back in their own world. And Remus didn't want that to happen. He didn't want to have an entire family here, even, if he was just going to wake up back in his world and not have a memory of any of it. Well, all of those thoughts certainly depressed any happy feelings he'd started out with. Over the course of it all, his forehead increasingly pinched.

But they weren't at that serious stage or anywhere near it.

"Tease enough and someone's bound to collect," he shrugged. He knew it wasn't just harmless flirting between two people, even two friends. There was more to it than that but even though he'd made that first move, he didn't want to get caught up in it all just yet. Remus had to give it thought. And that made him feel guilty. "I probably shouldn't have." Doubt, second-guessing, self-conscious. Those words still applied, only on a Moony that was naturally a bit more daring than the others. He didn't think it was a great mix.

If there were a Moony around to start something, to make a first move, it really was the one sitting in front of him. Sirius knew that. The Dauntless lifestyle, so much as he'd heard about it and seen it in Moony himself, certainly pushed the envelope more than the average group, made Moony a bit more aggressive in ways Sirius hadn't seen before. And he liked it. There hadn't been enough time, just sitting with Moony, for Sirius to figure everything out, but his gut was telling him how it was going to go, and things were already moving inside along those lines. It was hard not to feel. It was hard to hold himself back at all, as that wasn't Sirius's style, but he didn't want to make Remus uncomfortable.

"It's not just teasing," Sirius replied, leaning forward a little, not enough to kiss Remus again, but he liked being close to him. Yes, Padfoot was growing more and more surefooted about the matter. But the way Remus was acting right in front of him worried him a little bit. It had been a perfect moment, a perfect act that started something, something real. And it what?

"No no no," Sirius countered immediately, "Don't say that." His hand reached out and grabbed one of Remus's, holding on to it tightly. Amid the happy remarkable feelings sorting themselves out, a small stone began to sink in Sirius's stomach, and he didn't like that at all. "Don't say that," he repeated.

"More?" Apparently it was his turn to be low on words. But he didn't need to say anything else, and in fact he felt like even that wasn't necessary. If it wasn't just teasing, then obviously it was more, and he could see that; it was impossible to not see it. Remus was just so good at controlling every emotion from not expressing what he really thinks or feels all the way down to keeping a cap on every fear he's ever confronted.

"Sorry," Remus sounded breathy. He ran his free hand through his hair again, his eyes on their hands. "I shouldn't have left it like that without an explanation. This place...it just makes me hesitant about getting close to anyone. Friends, my children, you. I'm afraid of getting too close and having someone ripped away like it's nothing." Otherwise there wouldn't be a problem.

It was just another reason for him to do the fear landscape. Remus was going to do it tomorrow and he wondered if it would be any different than his last.

Sirius's head nodded, just a couple times and just slowly. But neither of those were really just. It was a modicum of self-control, which he actually had plenty of when he tried. It kept him calm, and it kept him sitting there with a bit of patience. It was always about two people, and Remus was as important in it as Sirius. He was, easily, capable of holding a relationship up on his shoulders, but that wasn't the best founding for one. And it wasn't best for him, if it took that to work. Not that Sirius thought that was what it was. No, he simply had all sorts of worried thoughts passing back and forth while he stayed calm and patient. Because really? Sirius rarely liked being patient, even though he had gotten damn good at it.

Holding Remus's hand strongly, without clutching it like a lifeline, Sirius didn't know what to make of the apology. If it were an apology for getting this whole thing started, which a tiny corner of Sirius's mind worried about, he didn't want it. And if it weren't, well, Sirius had to know what it was about. The hope and confidence Sirius applied every time he knew he liked someone was there, battling back the uncertainty of the situation, of their situation. Remus's concern wasn't one Sirius had ever acted on. Having met and lost his children, some of them more than once, he knew the pain, but that never stopped Sirius from getting close to anyone.

"That can happen anywhere," Sirius replied, "Here, back home. The manner someone can be ripped away is different. But I don't believe that's a reason to keep people out." Sirius paused, knowing the way he saw things was differently than Remus's usually did, than this one certainly did. His mind instantly brought up the relationship between Sirilla and color Remus, between color Sirius and party Remus (actually, that Sirius had aged, were they still together?). And yes, it was precarious, perhaps more so than in the worlds they came from. Merlin knew that he and Moony, the one before him, were two of the ones not in wars, so maybe it was less likely. But life had its way of doing whatever. And Sirius still threw his heart out every time. Eventually, it was going to do him some good.

"That's ... you have to decide that for yourself," Sirius added. He'd practically pushed himself on Oscar, in hindsight, and he wasn't about to do that again. Offering himself was different, but Remus had the free choice to do as he decided. Sirius just tried to keep on breathing, knowing he wasn't likely to get an answer that night. Nothing was going to happen, if he stopped breathing.

"True," Remus said, and it was. In other worlds, James and Lily were killed in one night. Sure, there was some anticipation of danger, but he imagined that his other selves didn't exactly expect his best friends to be gone like that. Anyone could leave in several different manners. Sirius took that as a reason to not hold back while it gave Remus every reason to hold back. He wasn't used to this, had never been through a war like the others, and that gave him a much different perspective. Maybe going through that would make him less hesitant. He wasn't sure.

There was no question for Remus, in his mind, to answer. Nothing had been posed out loud. He wasn't even sure where to take it or what to say. But when he looked up again, he wrapped his hand around the back of Sirius' and slid it down his arm, fingers trailing over the skin as he took hold of the entire limb. "I think it's too late for me to give up on you - this, us, entirely anyway." It was half joking and mostly true at the same time. But it definitely wasn't a bad thing. At least, he didn't think of it that way, despite his concerns.

Sitting cross-legged on the couch with one of his best mates wasn't supposed to be so hard. He knew Remuses sometimes had that thing they did where they had to take particularly more time to think on things. Sure, some time was needed alone with thoughts. Sirius knew he needed some of that himself. But the direction it went, whether he'd consider going for it, that was all settled. He had already pursued one person not from his world while here, and sure that wasn't ever going to happen, but that didn't make it true about Remus. Unless Remus decided so. That was the root of it, really. And Sirius was neither ready to hear an answer on that nor expected Remus to entirely have one.

Still, his body leaned in a little more, pulled in by the way Remus moved. Sirius smiled at the statement, taking it as a positive sign but nothing binding. "I don't support giving up," Sirius replied, smiling to himself a bit. "I expect we'll have to get our thinking faces on," he added. It was true for both of them. Sirius never liked running into things half-cocked. It just didn't take him very long to make up his mind once he went about it. He leaned into Remus, turning a little, so he could rest his head on Moony's shoulder. "I like your thinking face."
