"It was an excellent distraction from talking about Melle Parkinson, and I always enjoy looking at art," she said with a little laugh. "And Dean is a lot of fun to spend and afternoon with." She smiled, clearly pleased with Susan's comments about her jewellery. "I am pleased you're getting a lot of use from it. I always hate to think of it sitting on dressing tables or in boxes and not gracing the bodies of beautiful people such as yourself."

"Dean has told me so much about his best friend. I think if he wasn't so busy with preparing for our show he would see much more of him. I don't want to take up all of his free time. People should not abandon their friends for romance, no matter how tempting it can be," she said.

Dean was glad to see Susan and Ophelia getting along, just as they had when she came to the studio. Although he was always concerned when he couldn't understand the conversation and was grateful when they switched to English when he rejoined them. He rolled his eyes at her, suspicious about the details of her talk with Ophelia. "I'm well, apart from the Parkinson thing, but I'm sure I can survive what I have to put up with as long as she's professional. And I really wish I could have caught Seamus' eye, but it's a busy event. I'm sure you can meet him eventually," he said, touching Ophelia's arm lightly.

He was feeling extraordinarily thankful he couldn't blush when Susan called them lovebirds. Her teasing was so well meaning, but he was feeling a bit put on the spot. "Oh, you know, far too much work, apart from skipping out yesterday."

"Oui, you did take me to the cinema to see the belle film about tennis though," Ophelia said, wrapping her arm around Dean's waist. He smiled at her but didn't quite relax.

"Thank Susan for that one, it was her suggestion," he said, flashing his friend a smile.

Susan laughed easily. "Ah yes, Pansy Parkinson. What an absolute delight that one is," she said with a shake of her head. "Still, I'm glad it led to you two having a good time." She looked down at the ring she was wearing, which was slowly moving as a living flower would do and grinned. "I love them actually, jewellery is art and should be worn and seen, not kept in boxes."

She smiled sadly, privately wondering if Dean and Seamus would be seeing one another as much even if there wasn't a show going on. "Yes well, Dean is very focused on his work," she said finally. "Seamus is too, come to think of it."

"Parkinson won't be that bad," Susan said with a small shake of her head. "Remember she technically works for you now, and if she tries to bully you or do anything untoward you can threaten fire her. She's not so silly as to jeopardise her job over the chance to be a bitch to you." She decided to leave Dean's statement about Seamus unanswered, she looked over at him at the bar and then back to the couple in front of her.

"All work and no play, handsome," she said, patting his arm gently. "Maybe it's a good thing you've got Ophelia here to distract you."

Susan laughed easily. "Well it seemed the least tr-" she paused and blinked for a second, faking a cough to cover up the pause as she wondered if Dean had mentioned his PTSD to Ophelia. Deciding to err on the side of caution, she raised her hand, "Sorry! It seemed the least trite option that I'd heard of. I hope you both enjoyed it?"

"I'm like a quarter of her boss, I wouldn't be able to fire her alone, and I'm pretty sure she'd still be working for Cadmus anyway, but it really would be stupid for her to be a bitch," he said, shrugging. "I'll get over my initial reaction or something," he said, making a face.

"It is true he works hard, but so do I at the moment. We must be doing our best because of the show. When that is done we shall be able to rest again," Ophelia said, smiling brightly.

Dean's eyes widened when he could see Susan about to say something about being triggered, but thankfully she changed her mind part way through. It wasn't like his PTSD was a secret, far from it, but it hadn't particularly come up with Ophelia just yet.

"Oui, it is very different from French films, but I have not seen so many of those either, and this was very fun. Très romantique," she said.

Dean nodded, managing to follow the stray French words easily enough. "We did, thanks Susie, although we both agreed that Quidditch is far more exciting than tennis," he said, and both he and Ophelia laughed lightly, remembering the conversation they'd had on the topic between the cinema and the restaurant.

"Well between you you're more half her boss, but really any percentage of her boss means that you have the upper hand," she said, before patting his arm and smiling winsomely. "But yes, I think you're best bet will be to just get on with it and bunk off to go and 'appreciate art' with one another if she becomes too much of a pain in the backside."

She smiled at the earnestness in the other woman's voice and nodded. "It will definitely be worth it in the end I think. You're all extremely talented."

She winced at the way Dean's eyes widened. Obviously he hadn't mentioned the issue to Ophelia - a fact that wasn't all that surprising if Susan actually thought about it. She glanced at the woman for a moment, wondering hopefully if she'd been momentarily struck blind and dumb, or failing that came from a background with enough good breeding to ignore the faux pas of her boyfriend and his friend completely.

"Yes a bit less philosophical and avant-garde and a bit more trite, but as long as it was entertaining and you enjoyed it, then I'll chalk it down to a win." She rolled her eyes and poked her tongue out at Dean. "Oh come off it handsome, Tennis is utterly bonkers. Nearly as boring as watching the lake in the Triwizard tournament."

She looked around again and grinned lazily. "Still, there's been a good turn out tonight, yes?"

Dean sighed with exasperation, "Susan!" It wasn't that he was ashamed in the slightest of what they'd done, but he was a relatively private person, and he didn't exactly want it broadcast to everyone.

"No, she is right. And I should enjoy that very much," Ophelia said, leaning up and kissing his cheek. "And," she said into his ear so just he could hear, as he lent down slightly to accommodate her kiss, "you should see if you can make me loud."

That made Dean swallow very hard at a sudden thread of desire. It was unusual for him, given how wonky his libido could be, but he was pleased. If his libido was on an uptick that might mean one less thing to explain to Ophelia right away, and, he realised as the conversation continued, he really did need to do that soon. Definitely more information than she had now.

He shrugged. "My mum's pretty fond of Wimbledon, I never saw much of the appeal. Football was always more fun."

"Oui, I am glad that Dean invited me. I had not heard of this Fawley Foundation before, but I think it is an excellent thing, cause is the word, oui?" Ophelia said. "I think I should go and buy some tickets of my own, excuse me for one moment, please. It was so nice to see you again," she added to Susan, before beginning to make her way through the crowd to the table for tickets.

Dean watched her go, smiling softly, for a few seconds before turning back to Susan. "It really is going well tonight. I just wish I could have donated a little more, but hopefully after the show is over I'll have some more to spare."

"What," Susan asked with an air of complete if not convincing innocence. "I am merely saying you should go and enjoy the art. Be as artists! It's not like I told you to do the whole 1960s art commune thing and paint naked, did I?"

She lifted an eyebrow as Ophelia murmured coquettishly in Dean's ear, making him gulp audibly. She tilted her head for a moment, wondering vaguely if Dean had managed to accommodate the erratic fluctuations in his libido that his potions caused. They'd never really discussed the problem of course, but Susan was observant and she was sure it had led to the premature end of more than one of Dean's relationships.

"My grandparents always used to drag us when we were kids," Susan agreed with a nod. "My grandmother is ever so proud that her daughter is witch, even if she doesn't understand what it means, so she liked to parade us off in front of her friends."

She smiled at Ophelia, touched by her brightness. It was a shame, really that she and Dean would probably inevitably break up. Or if they didn't, that their continued coupling would probably drive an uncrossable gulf between Dean and Seamus. "It was lovely to see you again too Ophelia. I must remember to come and see you very soon about a necklace I'd love to commission."

She reached up - deeply thankful for the heels which left her slightly less shorter than him than usual - and patted him on the shoulder affectionately. "I can always buy a bunch of tickets in your name," she teased. "Or perhaps commission a couple of pieces for something that I may have in the works depending on my brother." She smiled at him with the dazzle and intensity of the sun coming out behind the clouds. "I'm so very happy that you're happy, Dean. You deserve every inch of happiness this world can give you."

"Getting paint everywhere isn't all that fun to be honest. I imagine the same goes for clay," Dean said, to which Ophelia nodded.

"It can be quite fun until you have to clear up," she said with a little smile, looking Dean up and down somewhat covertly, but with clear appreciation.

Ophelia nodded gaily, "Please send me an owl, we can arrange a meeting," she said.

Dean rolled his eyes at Susan. "No, it's fine. Come December and I should be feeling flush again, I hope. I'm hoping the show might bring in more commissions too," he said, smiling at her. "Not that I won't do them if you want them, but dates with people I don't know isn't my thing, even if they aren't romantic." He shrugged, not all that bothered by talking about his triggers now Ophelia was out of sight.

"Thank you, gorgeous. And I am. Well, I'm getting there. Still a bit unsure in places at the moment, but getting there."

Susan snorted and nodded. "There are places paint and clay just shouldn't go, quite like sand in that regard I feel," she said, actively trying to repress the urge to laugh at the sudden vivid mental image of Dean painting buck naked.

She paused for a moment at Ophelia's words, but decided that for Dean's sake she'd pretend she hadn't heard them. There'd be plenty of time later to gently tease him about the whole thing.

"Of course," she said with a warm smile. "I'll send you one tomorrow morning to arrange a time and a design."

She narrowed his eyes and peered at him intently for several moments. "Has Seamus been checking up on you lately," she asked shrewdly. "I know I've been a bit lax, but I may have to put my foot down and have you and Ophelia over for dinner one night soon." She allowed herself to smile again at the mention of commissions. "Well I'll definitely be taking you up on that dear. My brother's asked if he could have the house after all, and I've been thinking of actually using all that gold I have lying about to buy myself a house that various members of my family haven't-" she paused, deciding to not finish the sentence. Dean didn't need to think about various members of her family being murdered in her house. "I'd like to have a fresh start."

"Well at least you know yourself well enough to know that dates aren't your thing, although a date with Seamus would've been alright surely." She gave him a big smile and felt herself growing misty eyed for a second. "As long as you're striving towards getting happy then that's what really counts," she said.

If Ophelia's comment had been a little less in the public eye he might have made something of it, as it was he was sure he'd hear about it later. Susan was an excellent friend, but could be thought to be a little too invested in the love lives of her friends sometimes.

Being used to Susan's scrutiny Dean just sipped at his juice while she looked for whatever cues he didn't realise he was giving off. When she spoke he rolled his eyes. "Sure he's been doing his bit, dragged me out of the studio and off to his parents' place ... huh, start of last week. I hadn't realised it was that long since he dragged me out. He's done his bit though. And I bet he's been busy getting ready for this," he said, frowning slightly. He had seen rather less of Seamus than he usually did and could do with fixing that.

"Yeah? It'll be nice for you to have a fresh start," he said diplomatically. He knew the house held a lot of difficult memories for Susan and as hard as it might be to leave it behind it might also be a good thing for her.

He rolled his eyes. "Sure since it's only a 'date'," he said, making the necessary quotation makes marks with his hands, "but he wasn't one of the options." Justin was though, and Dean assumed Seamus had bought plenty of tickets for him, which made the ghost of a frown pass over his face. He curled an arm around Susan's shoulders and hugged her to his side. "I'm always working towards being as happy as I can be. Most of the time it's going pretty well," he said.

"Yes of course, he's very busy," Susan said with a nod, deciding to leave aside the fact that Seamus always found an excuse to be busy when Dean started seeing someone. "Still at least you have Ophelia, and I might make you some food some time this week." She took a moment to look around, wondering if Seamus was actively avoiding them, or had actually convinced himself that he didn't have time to come and say hello.

She laughed quietly, touched to the quick by his valiant attempt to be politic. "It will, handsome, it will. I've been told that I should take a man along with me, get the realtor to think a couple's buying the place," she said, giving him a smirk. "I would ask you, but you know you have a show coming up."

"Oh Dean," she said with a sigh. "Air quotes, really?" She chose to completely gloss over the comment about dates and Seamus, particularly when Dean frowned for a moment - thinking no doubt of Seamus going on a date with someone else. She leant into the hug and patted his back. "I'm glad," she said with absolute sincerity.

She started for a moment, when she heard her name being called. She looked over and saw Eddie and a few friends from work. "Do you mind if I leave you for a bit, handsome," she asked, before giving him a quick kiss and walking away.
